This was a lovely dinner experience. The deck area has a nice calm atmosphere and the staff are friendly. Food was really good (Mushroom Risotto and Open Veg Toastie) and the wine was reasonably priced (R135 Protea Range).The Harvest table looked very inviting but you do need to get in early (8:30pm dinner may be a little late for ample options).The only downside is the cars coming past near the circle but we find it minor.

A local favourite in Newlands. Friendly staff makes this place a pleasant establishment to frequent. The carrot cake and cheese cake is up there as some of the best Ive tasted. A worthwhile visit if youre looking for a taste of Europe.

TERRIBLE SERVICE AND ATTITUDE FROM THE FEMALE WAITRON. NO MANAGER PRESENCE DISCERNIBLE. BEST LEFT TO THE LOCALS - NOT WORTH SUPPORT, IN MY VIEWWE saw a wonderful spot in Newlands for an early relaxed coffee and breakfast. WHAT a pity that service and attitude did not match this. When it came to payment, and my companion asked to use a pen, she was informed by the woman with attitude, We dont have any. Miraculously the affable, perfect gentleman, another waitron on duty, left a pen on the table. We wanted to split the bill (with a tip, more than 10%. ) Had I an inkling of what was to come, no tip would have been given. She (the waitron) disappeared and the affable young man said they needed help working the new system. After a while, I called the waitron and said that she could just give us two bills. No, we cant change anything once its on the system. Arrogant, dismissive, intractable. There was an older man preparing gas heaters. If this was the manager, ZERO points for constructive help, FULL MARKS for not leading by example. You have a waitron who deserves to be complimented, for putting customers first, and another, who is toxic. I suggest you embark on some staff training. And that the manager / maitre d act as such. A lovely spot, a smallish but quite complete menu, and a large drinks selection. But certainly not a good spot for relaxing coffee. Two stars, One for the food and one for one of the waitrons. DISMAL. GO AT YOUR PERIL. There are two superb coffee places, with affable atmosphere very very close by. Infinitely better....

Food wasnt good. Dry and over cooked, food was tastelesd and wouldnt recommend, staff handled the situation extremely well, coffee was amazing.

Delicious food and excellent service. Suggest they sort out the seating and table arrangements out, 3 of us sat in the middle of the service area, otherwise all good.

The food was well below average with cold chips and cold coffee being served. There was one vegetarian option of a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and Avo. The buffet food was dry. The banana bread was like a brick. The service was terrible with one waiter serving the entire restuarant. Extremely disappointing. We booked for a birthday lunch and the only thing good was the champagne.

Coffee was excellent but I received dirty with stale food cutlery which made the experience negative for me . Im sorry .

Favourite lunch spot! Great coffee, the most delicious, abundant salads for such a reasonable price, lovely interior, couple of outside tables, friendly staff. There is a section of help yourself food that looks SO good (and menu changes every day), but I am yet to try it. Carrot cake is YUM too.

Good was good. Ambience as well.Though it was extremely expensive and coupled with atrocious service from waitresses who didnt seem to understand, care and some could not even speak English. The methodology used to price plates with mixed fare was most unequal. Eg. Rice gets priced equally as Bobotie and amongst all other dishes. 2 slices of cake priced literally as an entire cake. The plot is lost here.

It is a hidden gem. The food reminds me of home cooked food. Its an intimate atmosphere albeit private enough to have a conversation with your date.

Terrible, they really should only open after 8 and not 07:30. Second time we left sitting with no one asking if we need menus or coffee or anything for that matter, just left sitting there for more than 10 mins. Eventually just left.
