From the day we met Riekert he had this magical way of making a very nervous and slightly clueless couple feel super at ease about the big day. Already the timeline he set up for us was a major help! We couldnt be happier that we chose Riekert to photograph our conference in Cape Town. Most important for us is that the pictures came out great. Hes very creative and caught a lot of really wonderful candid shots as well as staged shots. Riekert shot for us on a Sunday and Monday and we had the edited shots by Tuesday. Wow, wow, wow! From the moment I first emailed him, Riekert was both professional and warm. He was extremely responsive, and I never felt out of the loop in the process. Having not done an event like this before, I also appreciated how he balanced listening to what we wanted (or thought we wanted) with his experience and made suggestions based on a combination of these. During the event itself, he skillfully combined being in the background so as to capture moments without making people feel uncomfortable with being so friendly that several of my guests complimented what a great guy he is! We organized a family photo shoot with Riekert while on vacation in South Africa, and everything went really well.The session was no hard work at all for us. He did our wedding in Port Elizabeth in February 2012 and to this day I firmly believed he was the best photographer for the job. He is very experienced and offers great advise on weddings! We were so lucky Riekert was available to take the photos on our wedding day. The final photos were absolutely stunning, and Riekert made full use of the beautiful surroundings in order to capture each shot. He also worked very fast, and I still dont know how he managed to take so many photos in such a short space of time. Email correspondence was so easy as he always replied fast and in a very friendly manner. We were elated when he could capture our day and we arranged for an appointment to meet him. When we got to his house we were met with a big, warm and friendly smile. He invited us in and made us some delicious coffee. He asked about how we met, how long we have known each other, our plans for the wedding day, where we would like to have our pictures taken and the flow of the actual day. He also gave us a background on his career and where he met his wife. We felt so at ease through the whole meeting and it just confirmed that we made the best decision.Working with Riekert on the day was so easy. It felt like we knew him our whole lives. Me and my husband were so relaxed. Sometimes you didnt even know he was there. He was so professional, never in the way and just knew where to be at the right time. He gave us guidance as to how to stand in order for the pictures to come out the best. When it was the end of the night the guests were so eager to see some pictures and Riekert was so kind to send us some images that same night. Wow!!! And how amazing they were. That made us sooo very excited to see the rest.When we came back from honeymoon Riekert told me that the photos were ready. I was so impressed that they were ready so quickly. He was kind enough to give us high resolution images as well as low resolution images that we could load onto facebook. The pictures was out of this world. Exactly what we wanted. It was like he knew us and captured us at our best moments. A picture says a thousand words, and our photos told the most beautiful story of the best day of our lives.Thank you Riekert!! The first time I saw my Wedding teaser photos, I burst into tears!In my wildest dreams I couldnt image that someone could capture how I felt on the day as perfect as Riekert did.Before the wedding we went to meet up with him, at first it was a hand shake, but by the time we left it was hugs all round. It is always important to feel comfortable and at ease with your photographer. I was a bit nervous at first when the camera was pointing my direction, but Riekert made me feel confident and completely at ease.The day is about making a lifetime commitment to your Love, in front of a community of you nearest and dearest family and friends, and celebrating it with them.The last thing you want is a photographer thats in your face the whole time.Not once did We feel that he was in our space or that he tried to get our attention for a quick photo. Riekert is brilliant at capturing the whole day, but you never feel that hes in your space. Hes very focused on when to give you a moment and when to take charge to take a great group shot. Photos take time to edit, but as promised we received our pics within 3 weeks from our wedding.We got married in the Cederberg - Sanddrif, its not really a wedding venue, but we saw the Magic in the venue. Riekert was recommended by 2 of the best wedding photographers in South Africa (they were personal friends of ours so we wanted them as guests and not to work).So we met with Riekert and most important was that my husband was comfortable with him immediately (guys dont love the camera) and I just loved his portfolio and the fact that he could get the photos to us so soon after the wedding (BIG PLUS!!!).On the day it felt like Riekert wasnt ever in our face - he was always at a distance and all I remember is that I laughed so much through our photo shoot on the day. He allowed us to have our day without interrupting it! And out of that came the BEST photos we could have wished for.One problem you will have with Riekert - you wont know how not to choose 300 photos to put in your home afterwards. We have our wedding photos all over our house cause they are not just special but complete art works on their own! You cant go wrong with choosing Riekert as your wedding photographer!!!!

We were lucky enough to have Riekert photograph our wedding at Lothian Vineyards.Amanda and I looked at a lot of photogrpahers work. Riekerts magnificient images, particularly those of huge African skies at dusk, were the ones that really caught our eye, and sold us on his ability.The booking and planning process was easy. A single meeting was all that was necessary to discuss the details, and timings. From then on it was a simple matter of fine tuning the logistics, and turning up on the day.The day itself could not have passed any better. The wedding was everything we hoped for and then some, and Riekert and his assistant captured everything. Impressively they did so in the least intrusive way. We were taken back by some of the photos - we just had no idea they were there. Seriously, they must be trained in the art of ninja-stealth!Just as important to us is the fact that Riekert has a winning personality. Stress and fuss-free, all the while fostering a great rapport with the wedding party and guests.Ultimately however it comes down to the finished product; the photos.In short, few words can adequately describe our first review, and the reaction of family and friends. I saw a photograph by Riekert Cloete on Facebook once that was very striking. The photo showed a bride on horseback with soft ligting. It was beautiful. After some further investigation I saw that Riekert has a special gift for capturing sunsets and stunning wedding moments.It was not difficult to communicate with Riekert in advance of the wedding as he has an easy-going personality. He proposed a wedding time-line which worked wonderful on the day.After attending a number of other weddings I realised what a professional photographer Riekert is, because I was not aware of him most of the time on my wedding day! His unobtrusive, friendly, mature demeanour also attracted compliments from our guests. It was mentioned that he could have been part of our family.When we received our photographs we were blown away by the quality and the uniqueness of the photo’s. There were also more photographs received than expected which was a bonus. 5 stars from my husband and I. We booked Riekerts services for our wedding. We booked him over a year in advance to make sure we did not miss out! We came to know of Riekerts work as he was the photographer at a friends wedding. The pictures spoke for themselves.Both our engagement shoot pictures and our wedding day pictures far exceeded our expectations. Riekert has the ability to capture the emotion of the day. The photos are a balance between posed and natural. He captures the moments you miss. His pictures tells your story reflecting the various emotions throughout the day.We got married in August in Robertson and the weather was not ideal - windy and super cold, however, Riekert made the pictures work - he remained calm, which meant the Bride remained calm. :-) My husband, who is not a camera person, felt at ease with Riekert, and we have some amazing portraits! I was running behind time in my preparations, but Riekert made sure a moment was not missed in the rush.The quality of the pictures are perfect, and the turn around time quick. We never once felt there was a camera stuck in our face. We used a few of our engagement pictures for décor and our guests loved it.Riekert is very easy going yet professional. He was quick in replying to our emails, and my numerous queries. Our engagement shoot and wedding day was filled with entertaining laughs and sharing of stories (We were lucky enough to have Riekerts wife as a second photographer so was great fun and they make an excellent team). I still remember our car trip back to the reception from taking the couple pictures - Riekert and his wife made sure we savoured the moment.It is without reservation, that I recommend Riekert for any special occasion.
