Had a good experience there, just wish we would have more locals from houtbay from near the market able to sell their wares at this market, wish it was a proper market, where you can find great goods at great bargains and not just expensive stuff out of reach of the ordinary person who lives in the surrounds. Such a pity and opportunity missed.
Lovely place. Always visit here with kids. Food is great. Good variety and options with different cultures combining. Coffee shops are on par with the best. The various goods stalls offer a lot of options and interrestest. Though small there is a lot to do.
Wonderful mixture of art, craft, gin and beer tasting and great eats over the weekend
The ambience is inviting, the coffee was great, but some stores are bit over priced...
Such a vibe! Live music and a great variety of food and drinks!
Rough day at work or just had a long week? Come to Houtbay Market Friday night for some great food and a show. Sit down for dinner with live music and a drink ranging from non alcohol drinks to healthy shakes and cofee to soft drinks. Draw some money. Some vendors only use Snapscan, Zapper or cash. A handful has card facilities. Wonderful way to spend a night or afternoon.Fridays open at 5 and close at 9.
Lovely sunday market to visit, with artisan created meals. There is a variety of beautiful hand made craft stalls too. From jewelry, painted, artwork, linen clothing, honey, kids puzzles to fabric and leather handbags. Nicely spaced out, so its not cramped up. Clean ablution facilities and lovely chilled areas both inside and out to enjoy your meals. Meals range from sushi,, soup, smoothies, to burgers, persian traditional and of course fish and chips. I thought this was a well hidden gem and enjoyed my time there 🙂
So many great things to see!
The market employees are so a-maze-zing creating 5 star service and delivering food that of impeccable quality.Definitely a Cape Town hot spot of opportunity and reward.Covid19, very friendly and clean youll feel safe. Thank you Bay Habour Market
Its COVID19 compliant, most importantly. Great variety of food and drinks. Awesome atmosphere. Great live music. Well worth a visit
Best honey, bread, biltong!
Great little market, sadly lacking in tourists right now. Clothing, jewellery, books and handmade leather shoes are for sale, as well as artisanal coffee and lots of different foods. Well worth a visit.
The Bay Harbour Market is a very busy and colourful market. Extraordinary art work exhibition outside and inside. There are so many interesting things to buy. I simply cannot do justice to trying to describe the vibrancy and products available at the market stalls, its a must see and experience place. There are also a great variety of food and drinks available as well as a delightful seating area overlooking the gun emplacements.
Nice and neat indoors market.Great food and craft stalls
Right by the Hout Bay Harbour which is very well run and maintained. There is a wide variety of stores and delicious choices for food.
Indoor space with lots of good food and interesting stalls. Combines the convenience of being indoors with the local cultural crafts and produce experience of a typical local market. Great option for a cold and rainy Cape Town winters day.
Amazing experience with live music and tons of different stores to try various foods from.
The most vibrant market in Cape Town. It was a beautiful experience we have fun shopping around
Great market selling a large variety of crafts, clothing, jewellery, art, etc. A section of the market is dedicated solely to food and has tables and benches where you can enjoy a light meal, coffee or sweet treats. Dont forget to browse through the numerous galleries adjacent to the market hall. Something for everyone here. Well worth a visit.
What a awesome experience. Friebky people and great food.
Best place to go over weekends, with live music with craft and different types of foods and races get together
A very cosy and cool market.Love it very much
Very nice clean little Market with beautiful handmade products.
Im very impressed with this market...the food they selling is very delicious...
Wow, cool stuff to buy, browse and eat!
This place is amazing and if you hungry, you are in big trouble because of the seemingly endless choices and varieties of food. This is it! Here, its only food. Ready prepared or freshly made right in front of you, this is the Bay Harbour Market! South African, Japanese, Portuguese.... Lots of meets to choose from... Drinks... Desserts.... Fresh fruits...
✓ Tons of shops with plenty of interesting things to buy✓ Reasonable prices for the shops✓ Decent live band playing at a reasonable volume (we may have just lucked out)✓ Great food available here✓ Great local craft beer available✓ Able to walk around the market with a delicious craft beer✓ Right next to the beach so you could go for a swing✓ No reasons to not visit this place. This place definitely raises the bar on what to expect from a market going forward. Kudos to whoever helped create this place as it is amazing. It is not so big you are walking around forever and it is not too small that you see everything in ten minutes.
Always an awesome time at Bay Harbour Market. They could however do a bit more to accommodate kids though. But the food, stalls, arts, vibe and music is always great! Its wheelchair friendly, theres an outside smoking/eating area. The staff are friendly and efficient and the eating areas are always well kept.
Awesome. Coffee the best. Mushroom kebab my absolute favorite
Enjoyed browsing. Will definitely go back again
Always lovely to see. Great Dim Sum!
One of the reasons for me going going back to Houtbay. This is one of the nicest, friendliest little markets we have visited. The large array of food and curios, the colorful and decorative displays, the convenient eating quarters are setup to entice your senses and is just so inviting. The food caters for every need. The the live music to entertain you while you enjoy your meal is awesome. You could spend the afternoon just getting lost in it all.
Wonderful atmosphere with a variety of traders from food to clothing and jewelry. Live music and a buzzing Friday nite vibe 2nd to none. The market employs local community members in all divisions of the market and you can see them all over from managing the market to cleaning and helping in every food store in the market. This market creates employment for this community, I love it. Variety of different independently owned stalls makes it a true market, home industry allowed to trade and earn an income rather than corporate business allowed to trade in the market.
Great vibe and different goods on sale. Loved it.
What a stunning market! The food is so good here, you will find the best food in CT here.My favorite spot is The Mac Factory, the “le med babe” is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. The only downside to this market is there is not that many smoothie joints. The only juice stand does blended fruits and veg.
Awesome market, clothing, food, books, hair braiding, music stores and live music! A bit of everything for everyone. Only issue is the harassment from the chances outside.
Stunning market with food for all kinds.
Awesome crafts, foods, drinks and vibe!
Wonderful place. You can walk around for a while just looking at everything. Theyve got all kinds of food places too.
Very nice vibe. Good food and there is a bar. Top quality market stores. Great for the whole family as well.
Nice market with unusual things
NOT MY TYPE OF PLACE. TOO DARK. HARDLY ANY LIGHT AND STALLS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT GO BACK AGAIN. BUT EACH TO HIS OWN!
The Harbour offers delicious seafood options at 4 different outlets. The views of the Iconic Chapmans Peak with options of taking a leisurely walk along the beach and or a 2hr boat ride.
First time going and will definitely not be the last, so many interesting things and oooh so much food! Yummy
Lovely atmosphere. Live bands. Local crafts. Proudly SA. Love this place! Best street food.
Great vibe, nice mix of shops.
Exciting stalls and food market on point
Always nice to browse through the market. Atmosphere is very laid back. Some items are expensive though.
Just lekka vibe al round.
Great vibe and nice stalls.
Perfect place to relax. Little bit expensive but still awesome nature
Always a great idea to come spend the day here. Amazing food, amazing arts and crafts, just fun.
Free place to buy and interact with people
An absolute must if you visit Hout Bay. Great food with a big variety and prices to choose from. Fun, relaxing atmosphere and unique clothing and jewellery!
The food was alright, coffee was AMAZING. Other products were also really cool and diverse.
Cant give Bay Harbour proper rating as they were closed only went there to do a job, but the set up looks good lots of mini restaurants, I believe theres live entertainment on a Friday and yes I will b going there, the prices of food and drink seems reasonable, they also have a market place in front of restaurants, dont believe me, then check it out yourself
Always such a great vibe! Love the Paella place - and the bubbles!
Best 1 man band I ever saw.Food people atmosphere was awesome
Bought their falafel burgers. Very quiet due to Covid of course
One of the better markets in Cape Town. Great variety of food and drinks with a warm atmosphere.
This market is very beautiful and is in a great location. A few minutes drive away from the clay cafe and the best Fish and Chips place in Cape Town. The prices for some things are reasonable, but most things are rather on the expensive side as they are geared towards tourists. The food all ale reasonable prices, is very delicious and freshky prepared. You dont have to have cash on you as most places have card machines, but if you prefer cash, there is an ATM on site.Definitely worth a visit in Cape Town, nest times to go in the morning just as they open before they get crowded with people. A good 2 hours is more than enough to see all the stalls, grab some food and buy a few items.
Bay Harbour market is really fun, great place to see a huge variety of food and craft stalls. There is even a spa where you can get a facial or massage!Highlights:- There is delicious food and they cater to all types of people (vegetarian, banting, vegan, sugar free etc).- The prices are fairly competitive, not cheap, but it is not overpriced- They often have amazing live music- perfect for a Saturday afternoon chillNegatives:- No designated kids area- Very little change in stalls, so if youve been there once, you wouldnt need to go again- Outside area is very small so it gets a bit stuffy inside.
Many things to see and the food is great!!!
Its good to see that nearly all stalls were operating, hopefully there will soon be more people visiting, pandemic restrictions permitting
I always enjoy going to this market. Good food, wine and vibes!
Whenever in CT we visit Bay Harbour market. We seldom leave empty handed. A great selection of treats to nibble or quench a hunger.
Great place too hangout. Nice live Music and a lot of things too see and places to eat
Lovely, lots to see and do. Great selection of light meals to choose from. Great Live Music too. Nice place to visit. Open Sat & Sunday till 4h00pm.
Amazing food. Amazing aesthetics. Amazing vibe. Good music. Friendly people.
A really bustling place on a Sunday, stunning views of Houtbay and Chapmans peak drive. Seals are often seen along the harbor shoreline, both swimming and sun bathing. There are restaurants to sit down and eat which serve great tasting fish. On a good day one can see the slangkop lighthouse just on the outskirts of Kommetjie in the distance.
