Autumn has never looked this good than how I saw it in South Africa and more precisely at Camps Bay Retreat. We’ve spent 2 nights in this amazing property and it was like tunnel through space and time, where everything had that old school charm. When we first got there it was super sunny and nice, so we took these pictures and then relaxed on the grass having a glass of wine. We’ve seen then the most spectacular red sunset. The dinner was exquisite, so was the wine and the location, a dream. The next day was rainy with some interruptions, but I must say that it was the best rainy day of my life, without exaggeration. I cannot think of a better place to be on a rainy day than Camps Bay Retreat. The have there on the property the most amazing, funny, smart and playful dog, Bengers with whom I fell in love with and spent the entire day with her. First she came to me with a tennis ball in her mouth. We’ve played a lot, I threw her the ball and then she brought it back. When she got tired we’ve stayed near the fireplace and chilled. They have in there and impressive room filled with books, old coins, chess table and everything you can possibly need to have a wonderful rainy day.The view from our room was like a painting where the deep blue ocean meets the green jungle of their property. It was indeed a dream and Camps Bay has been my favourite location from South Africa. I truly, honestly recommend you stay at Camps Bay Retreat for a magical and unforgettable experience.

A truly beautiful place, right near the beach in Camps Bay. Friendly, welcoming staff. Everything you could want. One small fussy complaint is that breakfast is not buffet, so you order from the menu, which is fine, but it does take a while, so if you are in a hurry to go somewhere, just plan for that. Breakfast was amazing though. Lovely place, I definitely recommend it.

Lovely tranquil place for a picnic. Huge green grounds with a pool for the kids. I would suggest leaving sundowners, meals etc on the terrace, until the sun has gone down. The terrace is unshaded and can be uncomfortably hot.The food is good, but service not their strong point.

A visit to the newly open Himitsu restaurant was a very good surprise. All dishes were full of flavour. We had a 4 courses menu per person and some extra “snacks” and drinks. I would definitely recommend the risotto, the kingklip, the porkbelly, and the deconstructed cheesecake to finish. The location is beautiful, and the view is stunning.

This hotel has the most amazing location and grounds, with spectacular views of the ocean and Lions head. Our suite in the manor house was also beautiful and spacious. Pity all this picturesque beauty was in such stark contrast to the dismal service we received. Staff are poorly trained and some are just flat out rude. The restaurant service was frustratingly slow (even for Cape Town) and the sunset picnic basket was a letdown. On checkout we were presented with an outrageous room bill, containing charges for accommodation we had already paid for, and room service we never ordered, and not so much as an explanation or apology has yet been received from anyone at this hotel.

Ummm just No! Especially if you have a dog or if you just spontaneously want to stop by, for a coffee. The manager chastised me for not having a booking, then led me to the 1/2 filled restaurant. Their website says dog friendly but they don’t supply water bowls. It felt exclusive and snobby.

Courtney was very pleasant and professional with our group...nothing was too much for her. DOWNS : The front security needs to be in touch more in touch with inside management as he did not have us on the guestlist (?). Bathroom (1) needs to really be cleaned more often and Wine (Pinot Noir) was served a bit warm and could have been chilled more before serving - other than that the view and UPS: Beaut venue, lovely waiters & waitresses, good food !

I do not want to tell anyone about this place as i would love to keep this gem a secret, if only that were possible! Huge property adjacent to Atlantic ocean, Lions head, and the 12 Apostles, loads of natural vegetation, natural water pool filled with mountain water. Accomodation varies, some outstanding and some less appealing. Hptel management very accomodating in helping you choose a good fit for you. Restaurant ok with lovely breakfast menu but very slow service. Resident dogs are very friendly and add a homely feel to the upmarket and classy manor house serving as the main building.

What a stunning property and location but unfortunately the service was disappointing to say the the least. We were on a planned girls statcation that we were really looking forward to. Upon booking we specifically requested rooms next to each other and it was confirmed in writing that this was all in order for our arrival. Upon arrival we were told that our rooms were not next to each other and when we asked why we were told that it was unfortunately just not possible. This meant that we were separated for our girls trip and our rooms were not close to each other. To our amazement there was a vacant room next to one of our rooms the entire stay so we failed to understand why we could not be granted what was prearranged. We continued our weekend nonetheless and spent our trip in one room instead of two as booked originally. Sunday morning upon our arrival at breakfast we were asked if we would like scones and croissants. We said yes to both only to be advised 30minutes later that it was not available. We were served one croissant and two scones for 4pax and when we asked about the service received we were just told sorry we dont have. We fully understand that staff and services may be limited due to Covid19 however for a property that has such high standards and a history of high calibre service we surely left disappointed.

10/10 would NOT recommend this place. Surely not worth the price. After a night of no sleep due to an opening in our bathroom ceiling and the howling winds flapping the entrance to the ceiling all night, and no cable connection to the TV to drown out the raqueteering, my husband and I made our way to the dining area for our first breakfast as newly weds this morning. I am absolutely appalled at the breakfast food quality and service. The breakfast option I ordered wasnt served with the food stated on the menu. Upon the food arriving after the first time I placed my order, I requested for the condements to be placed on the table, 20 minutes later, my food was cold and the condements were still absent. I then requested for the food to be remade as I sincerely cannot eat raw, runny, cold eggs. The second order was again served without the foods stated on the menu, and after at least another 25 minutes of waiting, my husband having finished his meal, my breakfast arrived with raw eggs once again and they had ignored my request of my mushrooms (due to an allergy). I had requested my eggs easy over, and upon being served, even the egg whites were liquid. We were seated at the breakfast table for the duration of an hour and 45 minutes. We are extremely humble and patient people but this is not what we had expected for the cost endured. The view of the gardens and the ocean is fantastic and thats about as far as it goes. This was supposed to be my pre honeymoon surprise and now it sounds like Im ungrateful to my husband for bringing me here but we paid good money to stay here and I honestly feel we deserve a refund.

Notes about Camps Bay Retreat: ONE: Soon after arrival, requested three times for beach towels to be brought to the room. Twice to reception over the phone & once to a member of staff who appeared to be turning down the rooms. After roughly two hours waiting, we were given bathroom towels to use by the pool & it was explained no beach/swimming towels were available. TWO: Requested that our room be cleaned on the late morning of our second day. Again, reception said they would see to it. No cleaning service ever arrived. We decided not to follow up after the debacle with the beach/swimming towels. THREE: After a walk around the paths of the retreat, in particular a walk along the electrified fence line, one creatively labeled The Adventure Walk or Sky Walk (cant recall), all of which took 15 minutes, we ordered a Mocktail at the bar because we were thirsty. A member of the bar staff (as genuinely helpful & courteous as they are) said: If I make this, it wont be nice. We then settled on a passion fruit & lemonade which instead was served as soda water & lemonade. FOUR: At breakfast, we were among the first to arrive and ordered the complimentary breakfast of bacon & eggs and coffee. The breakfast arrived in good time & was nice though it took 30 to 40 minutes before the coffee arrived. During our wait time other recently arrived guests received their coffee virtually immediately. FIVE: We found the menu to be limited & over-priced, though accept it may have been because of Covid-19 that a more simplified menu was on offer. For example, in terms of pricing, there was a couple of steaks on the menu offered for R395 per steak. Arguably, some of the most prominent steakhouses in Cape Town rarely charge such a rate for an individual steak. SIX: Following a nice breakfast of bacon & eggs, pork sausage, sourdough toast, mushrooms and baby tomatoes, with hot coffee & orange juice - I was still a little hungry for a small snack. There was limited breakfast options on the menu, so I requested if I could order the flapjacks from the kids menu. I was given a firm no which I accepted politely though with a few reservations. Happily, the genuinely helpful & courteous member of staff suggested a scone which I gladly accepted. However, why was the scone not listed on the breakfast menu? In the car park, there is a little sign that says: Fresh scones baked on sight. That seems a small detail but in the space of a two night stay there seemed to be a lot of small details that were overlooked in terms of ensuring a pleasant experience for two paying guests, at rates that are not cheap. Another point is if you book the luxury suites you essentially get a wooden cabin studio, with a deck that appears to have last seen varnish a long time ago. It was a bigdisappointment overall and we felt we wasted our money. Will not be going back ever again.

Beautiful 1920s villa with enormous garden where you can discover pools, waterfalls, a forest and mountain walks in the middle of suburbia. The staff are not very knowledgeable about their establishment nor do they exude typical South African hospitality. I was tasked with the job of organising our end of year function for our 30 volunteer ladies. To make the booking and get confirmation took forever. We had requested 16 picnic baskets. Each Basket was supposed to be shared by 2 people and was charged for at R495.00. This came to R 7920.00. As we were a large group, we were advised that there was a 10% surcharge for a waiter, who was allocated for the afternoon to look after our group. This amounted to R792.00, bringing our total bill to R 8712.00.When the baskets were delivered, they were all different sizes, some just had salads, others crackers. It was impossible to take one basket and sit and share it between 2 people. We had to unpack everything and organise them ourselves. We had also requested 3 Halal Baskets for 6 ladies. There were 2 large baskets, one with a sticker saying “Halal”. None of the staff could tell us how many baskets were thrown together into that basket... One waiter said there were 2 in there, others thought 4. Anyhow, we were short of Halal food for 2 ladies, which nibbled on crackers and cheeses. As soon as the baskets were delivered, we were asked whether we would like to order some drinks. We asked for the wine list. That was the last time we saw our designated ‘R 792.00’ waiter. Not ONCE did anyone of the staff come down to serve us or to take an order for the next 3.5 hours! The assistant manager Ashton Cornelius was less than helpful and the host manager in charge, Jaypee, couldn’t even be bothered to respond to my email. He was also not available to take my 3 calls.May I suggest getting some decent management in there that know their jobs.I cannot express my embarrassment for having recommended your resort.
