I needed to bring the joy back into my weekends so I booked a morning ride at Imhoff. I’ve owned horses so have an idea of what good stables should be like. I wasn’t disappointed. The horses shine. They are well groomed and well treated. The best part was the ride through the vineyards, along the unspoilt veld and onto the beach. It’s a spectacular view. This gentle ride is truly worth the money. You won’t regret it. Just don’t expect to be galloping anywhere. As I said, it’s a gentle ride.

I had a fantastic beach ride here! It was perfect for an experienced rider like me who just wanted the chance to ride a lovely horse on the beach. The more experienced riders in the group got to gallop along a totally empty and gorgeous beach which was amazing. The horses are in great shape and are well behaved. I had a blast!

I arrived at the Center at 3 PM was met with One of the Horse Attendants finished the Paper work and off we go. Me, my spouse(who knows absolutely nothing about riding horses) and the Horse Attendant. The Horse attendant didn’t Communicate well to my spouse the absolute basics of riding a horse. 5 minutes in and my I notice my Horse Exhibiting all the Signs of Tight Bridle. Including but not limited to tossing the head, lack of chewing, and lack of engagement. I tell my attendant and ask him to come loosen it up and to my surprise he reply with give the Horse all the rain. At this moment my jaw almost fell. I argued i am giving the horse almost 90% of the rein and the attendant is ignoring me. 15/20 minutes in and at some point i gave the Horse 100% of the rein because he was in so much pain. And still exhibiting every sign of tight rein. i documented everything on Camera. I tell the attendant agin to come see and he refuses to even take a look he was extremely unprofessional and inattentive to us. It’s almost like he was hoping for something to happen to us. At this point i got off the Horse and i loosened it my self. And cut our trip and headed back to the stable where i was met with the Proclaimed manger. I explained everything to her but she came off as defensive and passive aggressive. And after showing her the videos the only she came up with to explain the horse tossing his head is maybe the horse is picking up on my energy ??!!. One thing i have to give it to them is they refunded our money at the very least. In Conclusion i would not recommend this trip to anyone. Especially those who are riding for the first time. because of the lack of the explanation. The inattentiveness. The lack of A footed supervising. And the complete and utter unprofessionally horse attendants.Note: if you are from the center admin please contact me so i can send you the videos.

I thoroughly enojoyed my horesriding experience here, I am not an experienced rider and I felt very comfortable on the ride. The horses are beautiful and the beach is magnificent. It was wonderful ride and lunch at the farm was fabulous. I would totally recommend booking a ride here, such a great day.

It really wasnt any fun. The coaches were very unfriendly, especially the lady ( Hannah ). Our horses simply turned around and ran into the stable, instead of coming the trainers stopped and screamed from 200 meters distance what to do. Of course we did not hear it. My horse tried to bite my feet all the time, so he had a muzzle. The beach is a dream.Fun factor-> 0%.I can’t recommend it.

Destination is beautiful - beach ride is just great. But the guide spent a lot of the time on smartphone while riding... bad impression. It is a more expensive centre if you compare to other places, even comparing to European prices. it could feel friendlier in the end. There might also be days with and days without.

Riding on the beach was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town this year, sadly, it was a great disappointment. (As I have only been this one time, I cant say that it always is as bad as it was today.) It is interesting to me that people before have mentioned that the horses are in great shape- to me it looked like they were quite skinny and were lacking muscles. It also looked like they were held in poor conditions (no grass for them in sight, rocky paddock). When we arrived they were already tacked up, just walking around the paddock(which is really risky). The way they assigning the horses also seemed rather random. They didnt ask any further questions and the only information that we provided was that we were experienced riders. As I mentioned before, the horses were more of a skinny frame with not a lot of muscles and it seemed a little weird to me, that a man (who was quite tall) was assigned a very skinny pony (he also mentioned to the guide that this didnt seem right and that the pony was struggling a little but she just brushed it off and said it was fine). When we started, there wasnt a particular order for us to walk in so (as we noticed a little later) it wasnt working out. Slower horses were at the front while faster ones at the back, etc. - I would expect, that the guides, knowing the horses best, would put us in an order that works... It was also made clear to us, that we shouldnt overtake other horses, however, when people did, the guides didnt say anything even though it made the other horses more nervous. My horse was incredibly stubborn and showed no reaction whatsoever to any of my aids (neither leg nor reins). While I wouldnt expect horses that simply always walk in a row to have the best reactions to the rider, I would have wanted the basic minimum of attention. The ride through the marsh land was very relaxed and the horses did a great job at manoeuvring through the rocky and uneven ground. After we reached the beach, one of the guides came around and asked if we were ready to go a little faster which was great, however as I mentioned before, the order in which the horses were didnt make sense, so I couldnt canter a lot, because the horse before me was just to slow. The horses trot and canter were also kind of fused together which showed that it wasnt very well trained. It also started kicking and bucking (which I was then told happens quite a bit with that horse). One of the guides then told me to move to the front which didnt work, because my horse would not move from its spot. I then ended up at the end? and in the next canter my horse started bucking and kicking again (in its very unbalanced canter). Sadly I lost my stirrups to I eventually fell off, hitting my head. One of the guides then came and asked if I was hurt, which I wasnt, besides a little headache, so I then caught my horse and mounted again, not feeling to amazing. My horse kept pulling the reins and shaking its head (which I dont think are great behavioural signs...). Sadly we had only cantered for about 30 seconds and didnt do anymore for the rest of the hack (I understand that that was because of my fall, however, I would have been happy to give it another try and the rest of the group was probably a little disappointed as well). One of the guides horses kept running off and she wasnt able to handle it very well. That guide also kept letting her horse fall back and then cantered past the group making some of the horses nervous. After we came back to the stables, we dismounted and then the guides came around and proceeded to unsaddle the horses, while those whose tack was already off were just walking around, which again seemed really risky, especially, after seeing that a lot of the horses didnt get along..All in all the location (especially the beach) is beautiful but the ride was a bit of a disappointment (which again could have been that we were just unlucky). However, the stables were definitely not in a great shape and everything felt a little unprofessional... such a shame.

If you are thinking about going on a beach ride. Do it = totally worth it. Tip: Go for the early morning ride, as it is normally less windy in the morning.

DO NOT RIDE THESE HORSES! DANGEROUS AND UNHAPPY HORSES! My husband and I went ridding in 35 MPH winds (they shouldn’t have allowed this). 5 out of 9 horses WERE NOT HAPPY and acted out. The leaders (Hannah’s) horse jumped up and ran in a circle 5 minutes into the ride, mine (Mucky/Merky?) quickly followed jumping up and making a U-turn running back to where we came from. Luckily it stopped because the other horses were blocking it. Should have gotten off then but didn’t. Hannah said the horse got “spooked.” Thought it was odd.. my horse and 2 other peoples horses kept pulling us and the horses were throwing their heads back and forth. It was clear they weren’t happy. We got down to a large open beautiful beach but the winds were insane. Not sure why we didn’t turn around. When we turned to go back my husbands horse (Diesel) out of nowhere TOOK OFF! RUNNING full speed, he was hanging on the side, the saddle turned upside down (should have been more secure), he fell off and luckily was ok. He got back on the same horse (BAD IDEA!!!) and 10 seconds later the horse SPRINTED RUNNING FASTER THAN EVER DOWN THE WHOLE BEACH. He was hanging from the side of the horse and the horse wasn’t stopping. Both of the leaders just sat there on their horse just watching, didn’t try to stop the horse at all! My husband got thrown off this time and was VERY hurt! He couldn’t get up, move his wrist and his body was in pain. Hannah said he had to get back on a horse and no one could come get the horse. Having no service and in the middle of nowhere, he got on her horse which “wouldn’t do that.” (her’s already got spooked but he had no choice). Ends up he sprained his wrist and BROKE HIS BACK RIB. Great ending to our honeymoon. The 5 other riders in our group hated the ride as well and they were ALL very glad to get off of the horses, NO ONE ENJOYED! They closed the horseback riding the rest of the day. Everyone else is VERY lucky they didn’t need to experience these awful untrained horses. We did NOT get our money back because we signed a wavior that “horses can be unpredictable and bite or kick.” I’ve been on plenty of horses and never had horses that were this unhappy and not trained. DO NOT GO HERE! AWFUL HORSES, COMPANY AND STABLES in poor condition! Wish I was smart enough to back out from the start when I saw the stables were in poor condition and half the horses opened the gate to run back to the stables when they were trying to get saddles on them... clearly they werent cooperating from the start.

I have never seen anything like it. I asked for a riding excursion for two people via email. The answer with a few questions about height and weight came quickly. After I replied, another email came quickly. Original sound I think our offer is not for you .... Then just do not.
