This is the gem of the WHOLE V&A Waterfront. Unique view of the harbor, the mirror room and the four-face harbor clock from the 1700 provided by a true clockwork master. The historical, cultural and engineering insights the two men provide are astonishing. There are so much knowledge and craftsmanship, not to mention dedication and passion, that are about to lost in our fast-paced social race into GDP. They have so much to share and to teach us. Hope you get the chance to visit them :-)
Love the serenity and cleanliness. Security and cleaning staff very professional and helpful. Felt safe all the time🌹Had late lunch at Sarays Restaurant, they served delicious meals with friendly and efficient staff.
Beautiful scenery and different types of eating places to enjoy
The Victorian Gothic-style Clock Tower is an icon of the old Cape Town harbour. It was the original Port Captains Office built in 1882. The pointed Gothic windows surrounds the structure with a clock, imported from Edinburgh, as a main feature. The red walls are the same colour as they were in the 1800s, having been carefully matched to scrapings of the original paint.
Good vibes day and night 💥
Worth a visit to get a personal guided tour thru the history of the V&A clocktower. Cmd the resident time members can fix any old style watch or clock. Fixed my cuckoo clock, which was almost impossible but they did it.
If you are interested in history and wonderful old machinery pop into the clock tower to see the tidal gauge, which is still being restored, and the clock mechanism which is a thing of beauty. Meeting Darren, the clockmaker, who explained how it all worked, and seeing the inside of this lovely building was our highlight of the waterfront.
As always the venue and event was awesome. Well deserved release in lock down.
They have started Clock Tower tours for the first time to experience how the clock works and be in the Clock Tower viewing the V&A Waterfront. Loads of history and meet the clock maker. For only R50.00 its a must.
Nice Place
Not a watch-sized watch but beautiful. 😉 I loved Cape Town city. Id G❤️ back anytime! 🇿🇦
The waterfront area have improved a lot since my last visit a few years ago. There are lots of places and restaurants for different ages. There are lots of activities here that you can spend the whole day around the area without getting bored. Only thing is that in the weekends, it could get slightly more crowded and for those coming by their own cars, parking and traffic could be an issue. Other than that, a great place to visit when in Cape Town.
Beautiful place
Great torist destination.
Very enjoyable besides the fact that I get bothered by security because I use my electric skateboard to get to the elevator from the parking entrance.
Beautiful place. So happy the new bridge is up and running. Beware of the Seagulls though lol
This area of the Waterfront has a wonderful holiday vibe to it. The Red Clock Tower is a beautiful Cape Town Landmark. Other imposing buildings in its immediate vicinity includes the Nedbank building with the statue of the woman and children at its entrance.
Beautiful office space, with visible security and lovely views over the ocean and Table Mountain
Amazing clock shop has just opened here... A MUST SEE!
What a lovely area. Interesting shops. Lovely vibe and the harbour is just perfect
The view from the Arena Waterfront looking towards Devils Peak.
Nothing special but creates a nice ambiance to the area.
Stunning views of the harbor
The Waterfront is realy nice. But booking a ticket to get to robben Island is a terrible experience. The staff are only there to work and dont have any feel for the need of the client. They are there do do us a favour and not to deliver a service. The Department that is responsible for this attraction should look at adding more people on the help and sales desk to make the process go faster and take stress of the only 2 people in the office.
Lots to see whilst you sip your beer. Situated next to the canal going from the sea in to the yacht basin. Robben Island ferry departs from close by. Cape Town Fish Market close to the tower with great food.
Clock Tower Waterfront is a beautiful place!
Just part of the larger water front complex

The Cape Town Waterfront is also a must see area. Here is everything from entertainment / amusements to good restaurants with fairly low prices, seen with Nordic eyes. There is musical entertainment in the small squares as wellexhibited recycled art .... which can also be bought at home! The bridge over to the Clock-Tower is a swing bridge that swings to the side when private or tourist boats are going in or out of the harbor. On the Clock-Tower side there is a very good restaurant Fish-Market as well as a Nelson Mandela Museum,a large shopping mall and some deadly cannons. On the other hand, there is a large square with a large yellow gate, a favorite Frame to stand in and at the same time have Table Mountain in the background. There is also a safe place to go in the evening / night, where many people eat here at the restaurants.
The clock tower, built in neo-Gothic style in 1882, is located within the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, directly on the water in the old port area of Cape Town. The waterfront was built in 1860 at the instigation of the heir to the throne, Prince Alfred (1844 - 1900), the son of the British Queen Victoria (1819 - 1901). The real purpose of this facility was to protect against the sea storms that raged here. Today the waterfront is a chic nightlife, shopping and adventure district, which has around 30 million visitors annually. This is one of the main attractions of Cape Town and South Africa. The Clock Tower stands at the transition from the Victoria Basin to the Alfred Basin and was originally used to document the arrival and departure times of the ships and to display the tide level. So both the ships crews and the port captain, who had his office in the opposite building on the pierhead, could see and write down the corresponding times. Many disputes regarding the ships idle times in the port were thus superfluous. The clock tower was extensively and stylishly restored in 1997. Today it is a popular photo opportunity and also a popular meeting point. Conclusion: On a tourist visit to Cape Town you should take the time to visit and experience the waterfront with its clock tower.
What exactly is it supposed to represent. The old days are not related to today, which is often found here in Cape Town. But pretty to look at
The Victorian Gothic clock tower is an icon of the old port of Cape Town. It was the original office of the harbor master built in 1882. Red in color, this is the focal point of the reconstruction of Waterfront. Coordinates Decimal degrees: -33.906428 (Latitude) 18.422176 (Longitude)
You should have seen the clock tower once. If youre near the V & A Waterfront, its just around the corner. The Clock Tower is also a good place for dates ... because you can find yourself here quickly and easily.
Starting point for rubben island. a little culture does not hurt because the history of South Africa is exciting! Do you know that scurvy is the origin of this country?
Very well laid out, good atmosphere. Ideal for a walk with family or friends.
The Waterfront Clock Tower is a beautiful landmark
Beautiful tower clock. Attention: there are many seagulls here.
Beautiful senary
The beautiful historic landmark of the Waterfront.
