Beautiful setting and amazing views. Sadly service and attention to detail lacking. Water not sufficiently warm in the bathroom. Sub par DSTV package. Poor quality WiFi. Temperamental coffee machine in the room. Breakfast underwhelming.

The Spanish Farm Guest Lodge is absolutely stunning. From the touch of nature that surrounds you to the luxury lifestyle when you are inside. This is the Villa we stayed in which gives you that luxurious feeling. The place is absolutely neat. The Spanish Farm Guest Lodge also puts so much effort in preserving the ecosystem which I thought was really nice. You will definitely enjoy your stay here

We were invited to Somerset West for a birthday. The coronavirus crisis hit the hospice industry very hard, so I decided to look for a guesthouse or hotel to support the industry a bit, and of course to have a nice time. I came across the offer from Spanish Farm, which I found very appealing, including a reduced price with 2 hours of massage. So, I booked this for myself and my husband, and we were very happy. On the day of arrival, we did not find the reception at first only after a request from an employee. The reception looks more than a reception in a big company and thats exactly how the check-in didnt feel very welcome, but more like having a business appointment. Then and the booked room was shown the closet, was broken in the lower corner, the window shutters hit the window all the time and everything was not really clean and dusty.Unfortunately, the room didnt meet our expectations, the receptionists phoned your manager and offered us an upgrade at our expense. We then decided on Villa 2, which is beautifully located with a wonderful view. Nevertheless, I felt a bit lost and not entirely welcome. The massage was great, and the service was very friendly, but she was also away from home. When we returned in the evening our villa was ready but there was no evening service. It was dark and there were a few loveless fruits standing around, I would have liked a few fresh flowers or a little attention. Unfortunately, not as clean as I wanted it to be, there were cobwebs, the windows were dirty, and the patio wasnt cleaned. And there was a braai on in the garden for whatever reason. My husband wanted to watch TV a bit, unfortunately Deukom and DSTV didnt work. So, we made ourselves comfortable on the beautiful balcony, unfortunately our rest was disturbed by many frogs from the natural pool. The next day we wanted to have breakfast at 8 a.m., unfortunately when we got there at 8 a.m. we had to wait because the buffet was not yet fully set up and the tables had not yet been set, even if we had already said that we would be at 8 a.m. the day before come breakfast. What surprised me very much that there was a buffet at Cornoa times, that there was no spit guard, and everything was very carelessly on plates. Unfortunately, there was no cutlery for the cheese and ham to help yourself. The breakfast is estimated at 250 rand per person, which I find very questionable for the quality, well. On the second day it didnt change that much except that we found an old welcome letter from the previous guests in our room. The service at breakfast on the second day was even worse you could hear the employees talking, you had to get up yourself and ask for more toast on the buffet and for more coffee, service was zero. To my conclusion, we are out and about a lot in the world, also in many different hotels and categories. The location is wonderful, but the service and hospitality are a catastrophe, I mean we ended up paying Rand 5900 for 2 nights and then I have expectations and ideas for a 5 star hotel for this price. If I experience something like that again then I think it might be better if not all of the economic consequences of Corona survive.

Beautiful place high up on the mountain with a 180 view across the bay. Recommend that you stay in the villas - private, spacious and Scandinavian style decorations. Great base from where to explore the wind farms in the area - Lourensford, Vergelegen etc.Breakfast and especially the coffee is a bit disappointing given how high quality everything else is - but there are plenty of choice nearby.

On 2 November 2019, my wife and I checked in at approximately 3pm to get away for one night. My wife took a shower and the blocked drain resulted in the bathroom floor flooding.Initially, I was annoyed and left 3 hours later at 6pm.The next day I returned to the lodge to collect a shirt that I had forgotten.Upon arrival I was met by the manager, Ulandi. One of the staff members brought my shirt to me neatly hung on a hanger. The day prior Ulandi told me that she first had to investigate the cause of incident before committing to anything. She was very apologetic and professional and she was honest enough to admit that the shower drain was indeed blocked as they had run the water to see for themselves. She gave us her contact details, a full refund and went as far as saying that we are welcome to return in the future and shed offer us a better room at a reduced rate.Last night I wrote a scathing review on this establishment but based on the honesty, integrity and professionalism of Ulandi, I have subsequently edited my review and I am very pleased in the way she handled the situation.Well done Ulandi and thank you for everything.
