Great gym, parking lot does not accommodate taller vehicles, my van got stuck at just 2.1m height and also now in level 1 lockdown the Suanas are stil not operating which is a big let down!

Out dated. Nothing is clean or organized. The gym layout isn’t efficient, have to walk far to get weights and take them back to your square. They are missing weights and not enough variety. nothing is packed away after use. The bathrooms are outdated and not clean, the toilets were out of order, a lot of the machines are out of order too. Personal trainers not complying to covid regulations. Cannot understand why this is a highly rated gym compared to other virgin actives across the country.

Whennone is in the cloak room, members of staff/cleaners are forever having long and liud conversations. They stand close to each other, yet talk in a screaming voice.Also, there is no staff moving around the floor. So if I run on treadmill and guy next to me is visited by buddy, or worse!!! Visited by his trainer, and talks so loudly that I cannot hear my audiobook through myearphones.... Oeffff

Nice, but cramped and can be busy... especially between 5pm and 7pm. Good selection/range of machines and weights. Had a heated shallow pool in addition to the main large pool. Nü inside the gym, with smoothies not offered elsewhere

Pam from the helpdesk was extremely helpful in explaining COVID-19 procedure and helping me with anything I needed. The NU staff were amazing too

The classes offered here are run by top instructors! I enjoy each one especially Shauns classes. He teaches great shape, pump and my absolute favourite, dance class! 100% a great way to get in shape and have fun!

I signed up after closing my contract mid Covid. This was over a month ago. My card still isn’t on the system and the receptionist has to manually let me in everytime I go to the gym.It’s highly frustrating and also concerning as to the systems and processes which Virgin has in place. This isn’t even a lead time issue but their “system being down” for about 2 months as my wife also signed up and hasn’t been put on the system. That is a shocking amount of time for a system to be down. Other gyms are probably going to monopolise on virgins weaknesses and take some of their market share through this pandemic

I go to a double class every Saturday [email protected] & they have just put new parking machines in. The gym had negotiated tariffs & for the past two weeks I have had to pay R250 so in total I nave paid a grand. Today I went to the parking & asked them why.I was told to go to the @virginactiveSA manager who basically told me & articulated to me that it wasn’t his problem & I must speak with centre management. I went to centre management & was told they don’t work weekends. I am so frustrated.But honestly the level of nonchalance & really just not giving AF to the amount of money which is just really extortionate lead me to cancel my membership. I am so disappointed by the fact that it is so evident that centre management is attempting to recoup costs at the expense Of consumers that are not only supporting the @virginactiveSAbut equally the coffee shops & businesses within the centre & when made aware of it, the gym management just does not care or even attempt to assist. I had to cancel my membership because I can’t afford it now.I don’t mind paying but I think paying R250 for three hours during these times is really expensive & really not ok. I understand that@virginactiveSA doesn’t care but I do & I feel ripped off.To further explain To explain your gym covers 2 hours which is discounted but if you stay for 3 hours. You are charged for 3 hours & not 1 hour. So the system doesn’t credit the two hours from the tariff which should only be an hour charge but this is simple math & therein lies the issue.But the Wembley Management @virginactiveSAdid not even try to understand the issue because he deflected the issue with no attempt to resolve it. Only to show to respect to a legit issue or an attempt for resolution.It saddens me that they feel fit to treat their members in this manner & I would warn anyone looking for a gym to look elsewhere.

Honestly the best gym by FAR, I personally think they set a high standard for commercial gyms. I might stay in Cape Town permanently because of the experience I get here. Staff is awesome, covid protocol are in place and gym is so clean you can eat of the floor lol... 5 starts are not enough keep up the great work, to all staff members.

Lovely gym, friendly staff, free private parking up to two hours, ease of access, spacious and well put together floor planning, cool atmosphere all in all.

Great selection of weights and machines, lots of space for those who want to work out on the floor, more than enough treadmills, ellipticals and stationary cycles. Pool always seems to have a lane available, locker rooms and bathrooms are clean. Lots of mirrors to check yourself out in. Staff are friendly and they notify members via email / sms of any issues at the facility. Could not ask for anything more. If you are there at 05:00, I will see you there!

By far the best gym in Cape Town. Before making them my Basecamp I was allowed to visit all gyms for a month. Their friendly staff and efficient layout of equipment did it for me. The pool was a bonus.

Honestly, I rarely go to the gym and have a seamless experience.There is always something wrong, whether it be treadmills/equipment not working, struggles to get out of parking etcIt is a very beautiful setting though and I would say clean gym.

Virgin Active adhere to Covid protocols in respect to classes. Some other branches could learn from them. Well monitored.

The gym has opened but Im still under covid 19 lockdown. I have been trying to put my gym membership on hold or cancel it completely if they cant put it on hold. 41calls later and still no one can help. Sure fast to take your money but that is as far as their help goes. Im not impressed and will also write to Helopeter and give my views there.

Mostly friendly, trendy crowd. Never terribly full, clean, and free parking. All the machines you need.

Prior to lockdown, I had visited this gym on the odd occasion, however, since lockdown, I’ve become a regular. This gym is by far one of the cleanest gyms who strictly follows Covid protocols. It’s never super busy and the majority of members keep their masks on. The staff go out of their way to clean the equipment too. The Nu there is also incredible. The views at this gym are great too!

The gym is decent but if you want to terminate your contract the administration will become very unpleasant to deal with. Not worth the trouble, recommend starting at another gym.

Awesome well equipped gym. Naledi at the reception is always super friendly.If the gym had the following pieces of equipment it would be even better: Weight-attachment/dipping belt, pec deck (fly machine, not the one were you use your elbows to push), glute drive machine (Or any glute isolation machine), tricep extension machine (or any tricep isolation machine).

Great facilities with helpful trainers that are always ready to assist. Clean well appointed locker and bathrooms. World class gym equipment. I always felt like the space was professional but very friendly and encouraging.

Love the group exercise classes they have available here. The instructors are very good as well. The only thing is that when you do have to raise a complaint, nobody gets back to you. The Club Manager ignores all complaints. Other than that, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the equipment is in excellent condition.

Mostly fairly standard Virgin Active although its one of the busier ones Ive been to. Theyre busy renovating some floor space so expect that there may be more space shortly.They have some really great classes here with super friendly staff - recommend Rumble and Power Pump.Never had an issue finding parking.

Its OK because it has a lot of space. Its not OK because it takes management several weeks to have faulty equipment fixed, or they simply remove it without replacing it (stretching apparatus); they introduce sweeping changes such as removing the laid out circuit without any attempt to consult members... Is this what Richard Branson had in mind when he took the bankrupt Health & Racket under his wing? I somehow doubt it.Follow-up review: This is a warning to prospective members - do your research carefully before you join a gym, and only consider Virgin Active if you are firstly, partial to non-responsive call centres should any queries arise, and, secondly, have money to waste holding on to try and reach someone. I cancelled my membership for various reasons, yet the debit order kept running. Trying to contact the call centre has proved fruitless. Dont say I didnt warn you.

The club has a lit to offer from classes to swimming to free weights to cardio. Theyve also recently improved their functional area so this is a lot better than it used to be. There is a cafe on site for food and drinks before or after a workout. There are also personal trainers available if you need a bit of help. The best gym for me because of how spacious it is, friendly people and staff as well as amazing friends I have made. I really love going to this gym and have been going there for the past 4 years. Theyve got an amazing manager running the place well and other friendly staff who makes it really great to go there. I really love this gym and its become my second home 😂

Wanting to charge R1600 for a 1 month membership. What planet are they on. Thats more expensive that European and Australian Virgin Active prices. Contact customer service, no reply. Contact management, no reply. Contact them via social media, get a reply that they will look into it and never hear from them again after following up. Ridiculous

Really nice gym, been going here for about 3 years. Always clean and nice space for weights. Really big cardio section and big studio space for classes. Friendly staff as well and well looked after swimming pool section. Just wished they had some squash courts would have been a 5 star gym then.

A great facility with all you need. Be aware that the gym is one of Virgin Actives busiest clubs in the Western Cape so there can be a wait for popular machines during peak times both in the morning and evening. The popularity of the club also means the free underground parking isnt also available.

Nice looking gym but what good is that if you cant get help using it? Got hounded by staff to buy personal training sessions, so I did. A week later and two visits to the manager to find out what is going on, Im no closer to even a consultation.Gyms are daunting for me I dont know how to get the most out, and now I dread going in there even more than I did before. Sort it out Virgin Active, this is a weak effort. Ill be asking for both my monthly membership and PT money back.

I had to come back and change my review. The changes they made to our gym initially, was not very impressive and I missed many weights and machines. But, the weights came back in a different form. There are still too many people at the gym, but it is a good gym.

Unnecessarily expensive even with Vitality yet still restricted to one gym venue unless you pay extra. Its just a gym. Happy with Planet Fitness. I can use my tag at any gym venue even when out of town at no extra cost. Cheaper than Virgin and offers more value for your buck.

The best virgin active Ive been to. Its not as busy as claremont or Point. It has everything youll need-pool, leisure pool, steam room, sauna. Great views of Table mountain and signal hill. 90 minutes free parking. But you could park outside for longer and for free.

One of the best branches of Virgin Active Gyms in my experience. A great open-air feeling, modern and very current. The building may look a little plain on the outside. No reflection of what is inside whatsoever.

This gym was always great but now its even better since their recent upgrades. Its now officially my favourite Virgin Active!

Pretty good gym but I find it gets too hot and prefer to gym elsewhere. The leisure pool was cleaner at other gyms but theirs is the biggest I have come across. Part of the reason it is hot is due to the fact that its pretty busy during peak times.

Definitely one of the better Virgin active gyms in Cape Town.

A really lovely gym that is kept in a neat condition. I am truly impressed that this gym makes the effort of keeping the lane pool open for members, despite the water restrictions, by filling it up with collected rain water. Big thumbs up!The consultation service can still use some improvements. On all occasions when enquiring, the consultants were uninformed and then reluctant to do more for the customer. I was always told to just phone the call centre.

After the recent renovations to the stretch area and squat area, plus the addition of extra squat racks and other coll equiptment that was previously lacking, this is now my 2nd favourite gym in Cape Town (after Sunningdale). They could make it better by marching Sunningdales unisex steam and sauna model... it actually makes the facilities much more friendly believe it or not (no more feeling uncomfortable with naked people of the same sex, everyone keeps it tidy). Suggestion!

Virgin active copy paste. Nothing wrong with it. Everything you could expect from an inner city gym.

Decent gym by VA standards, some equipment on the older side but loads of treadmills which means that needing to wait is rare. The Nü is lovely and staff are friendly, the changing rooms are always clean. Recommend strongly.

The place is clean and the staff are friendly. Only 5 swimming lanes unfortunately, and usually 2 of these are unavailable due to lessons. Also they dont have a Kauai for some unfathomable reason. The vitality station has been offline for over 5 months. Expect queues for treadmills. Also there arent squash courts. This place is somehow always busy.

Great club, friendly staff and top of the range machines. The club never gets overtly packed and also offers fantastic classes. The pool is well maintained and there is an extra splash pool for youngsters.

I phoned the Wembley administration to request that my private physiotherapist who has been assisting me with my disability rehabilitation be allowed in for a single session to the Wembley gym to help me with my exercises so that I can do them by myself in future. The administrator said yes as long as its during off-peak hours.The day of my scheduled physio session I phoned to confirm and I got redirected to the general manager who said that my physiotherapist cant enter the gym and that I have to be referred to their biokineticist. I explained that I am disabled and that my physiotherapist has been helping me for over a year with my very unique case. He said he cant help me and that hes said the same thing to other disabled members with the same request.At this point, I just got angry and hang up...

Best gym in the neighborhood with loads of classes. Also shops, coffee places and restaurants in the complex. Offers great kids swim lessons as well. Free parking for members.

Its a good gym, but beware of the parking fees if you stay longer than the free 1.5 hours that youre given. It will easily cost R100 - R250 if you overstay your welcome.
