Bad old school marketing ploy... pull you in for 1 weeks free training , great incentive to get me to try the gym. Get there- oh but if we drop the 1 week free training offer then we dont have to charge you a joining fee of R600 + this and that. Surely these marketing ploys are not effective anymore. The better approach would have been - hey come and try our facility - if you like, great this is our joining fee and all benefits associated with that. Transparent, easy...

Definitely one of the most advanced gyms out there. Equipment is top of the range and staff clearly doing their job properly. Just a bit expensive is the only down side but if you have the money then spend it. Definitely worth it.

Ive had a terrible experience at this gym. We signed up in June 2021 just before the 3rd wave. The sales consultant was not transparent with the pricing. We were told that with a discovery discount we would pay 199 pm. He signed us up for a 24 month contract which we were not aware of. R668 was substracted from my account which I queried. We called to cancel our membership and was told it would cost 3800 rand cancellation fee. How ridiculous! I will never recommend this company to anyone!!! They are fraudalant and malicious!!! I called to lay a complaint and was told that they could not assist me and that I would be blacklisted. Who ever is reading this review, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM!!! The are border-line criminals!!!!

One of the best gyms in the city. Always clean and equipment always available. Friendly staff, professional service and upmarket clientele. Its their signature branch as well. Conveniently located and not badly priced if youre on medical aid.

I had issues with Planet Fitness subtracting large amounts from my account monthly, although I had cancelled my subscription months prior. I tried contacting them through telephone & email but received no reply. When eventually they answered, the ‘Head of Sales’ was rude and unhelpful - it turns out he was in fact NOT Head of Sales and continued to ignore further phone calls and messages from me. It is clear this business is fraudulent and poorly managed. I will continue to advertise that one should AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT by all means, they will steal your money!

I was at the gym today and I witnessed terrible floor custodian behavior specifically one female in particular I believe her name is Salamah. She was unprofessional rude and used intimidation on a lone female gymnast. Please I refuse to workout in a environment that allows their employees to BULLY their clients.Theres a custodian named SALAMAH who uses dismissive behavior to address clients. Didnt do anything when I complained about soiled gym equipment. Sort it out or I will have to report to higher authority.

Credit card fraud, they stole almost 4000 from me and underpaid me my money back after months months of battling for it. Terrible customer service. I would not recommend to anyone. Do not waste your time here, they are scammers.

BE WARNED: I do not trust this establishment, I went there and agreed to sign up for a one month contract only.Then 6 months later one of their workers unlawfully used my credit card details which they stored on their system and signed me up for a premium subscription without my knowledge nor my approval. Now, 3700 rand later they were very reluctant and rude when it came to dealing with this matter and giving me a refund, then when I eventually received a refund after months of battling for it I was underpaid. There are many better gyms in Cape Town which DO NOT COMMIT CREDIT CARD FRAUD.

After having visited all the planet Fitness clubs here in the western cape, I can positively say that this is the 2nd best club. The interior of the gym is beautifully set up, but just doesnt compare to the Bracken Gate club.Contrary to the common planet Fitness rudeness you receive from the people who work there, across all branches, the staff here are friendly. I suppose that is the reason for the signature.The café is definitely overpriced, but I suppose its because Im not the target market🤷🏾‍♀️. The shower pressure is God-tier and you have to constantly remind yourself not to stay in there for too long.So, how is it 2nd place?-Well, the set up simply isnt as good as the one in Bracken Gate, but this doesnt mean its bad. Its just that Bracken Gate is that good.-Lastly, the shower space isnt as big as that of Bracken Gate.Anyways, Lovely gym. :)

I was absolutely mislead by one of their sales reps. Xavier was his name but I could stand corrected. I was told that if I do the transfer from Virgin to Planet Fitness that I would not have to pay anything, cut to meeting them at the gym, they called Virgin active while I was there even after I said I’d prefer to talk to my husband. They said I’d loose the deal... it wasn’t a deal at all. I ended up paying R1500 on the spot and was told not to worry because I apparently get 4 months free! This was at the beginning of October. I got debited on the 24th of December for R799 and this makes no sense as I was told I’d only pay again in February 2021. This is STEALING. They are very intimidating and I find it extremely unprofessional. Judging from your latest review I am not the only victim. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this gym.

Committed credit card fraud where they used my credit card without my consent. Horrible conditions in the public toilets, i got athletes foot from the shower there. The equipments are all unsanitary even though it is a covid wave.

Mislead by information on my contract... Extra maintenance levies... Why is this amount not part of the membership fee and charged as an extra? Please make sure of all your information before joining as a member.

You can find all the equipment a gym should have. Friendly stuff. Well sanitized. They also have classes members can take like yoga and boot camp etc.

Theres not bad thing I can say about it rather than come in and have a tour if want a great gym the workout machines are good and theres so much to explore. The whole team there is also 100% positively nice

Im sure the gym facilities are amazing. I cannot say the same about the staff. One particular guy, called Arnold, literally pulled me out of my way to my usual gym and took me to have a look at the gym. It has a lot of modern and impressive facilities but I wasnt ready to join. He took a while trying to convince me to join. I told him it would be a while until my contract with my current gym would finish and he told me I can just stop the debit orders with that gym and change over. Then he told me he would give me a 7 day trial since I wasnt sure. If I decide not to join, I should let him know within those 7 days. He made me pay for the tag so I can access the gym during the trial, saying if I want out, I get a refund. Before the 7days, I still told him I was not ready to join that gym. I never used their facilities. He did not do anything about it. I went to the gym before the 7 days ended return the tag he had made me buy. Only then, he told me that I had to cancel through their call centre. There is no refund for the tag, but I still left it with him. They send debit orders. They expect more than R2000 for cancelation. After this Arnold guy manipulated me.

It was my first day there I was super nervous about going to gym but I can positively say that is all gone..Great staff amazing equipment.. Super clean and very well organised not over crowded..Iam super excited to start my weight loss journey at this amazing gym..

The communication was extremely terrible, I would email them and call them but alas no response, Only bot responses. I signed up in January 2020 due to their great student discount of R299 per month instead of R999 per month. Little did I know this was all bait and they got me hooked (They charge a hefty cancelation fee of +R2000). In march of 2020 all Planet fitness branches closed hence they suspended all memberships and reopened in August (I only used their gym for 2 months). I no longer could attend their Gym due to health factors as well as the fact both of my parents are above the age of 50 hence are the most vulnerable to COVID-19. I tried to communicate the fact that I could not, have not and will not continue to use their services and am then protected by the consumer rights acts. However they took no consideration for my situation, all they wanted was a cancelation fee for a service I no longer needed or used. All in all a terrible experience.Whats worse is that they decided to hand over my cancelation case to Saya Recoveries (Debt collectors) without giving me 21 days notice which is illegal since it breaks a rule of Consumer rights act.Dont go here, just gym at home or go to virgin active. There is reason why their are several virgin active gyms and only one Planet fitness.

This branch has been built well, has fantastic equipment and great image. Although, away from all these flashy elements, the communication of Planet fitness has not changed. They are quick to try get you onto the contract promising swift response and personal understanding to what complications may come up - especially with the current times of this pandemic. EH! LIES. I signed up after they informed me that it was possible to cancel under extenuating circumstances ... like me having to abruptly leave the country. Well that happened! Only a month after signing up - with me not having stepped foot into the gym - I called in notifying them of my departure with flight tickets and urgency and guess what? PSHT, nothing - they could not assist me. The call centers? Very hard to get a hold of and, when I finally did, requested a whooping R2000 cancellation fee! What nonsense. I tried to call the branch for assistance with the call center - basically doing their job for them, with no success. Morale of the story... dont be bullied and convinced to sign up unless you are ABSOLUTLEY sure. And even then... be even more sure.

Simply the best commercial gym branch in Cape Town. Was at Virgin Active before, but this gym just knocks the socks off any other commercial gym Ive been to. Professional and friendly team with new high end facilities and equipment I had never seen before. Always an experience training here.

I just signed on today and the staff are very friendly, helpful and on point. Shout out to the guy who signed me up, Spence. The facility itself is in top condition, equipment is clean and brand new. It’s very spacious and has a calming vibe to the aesthetic. Now, time to get these gains!

Registered online for a ONE WEEK free voucher. Received a text with the voucher code which clearly states it is valid for ONE WEEK. Take the voucher code to the gym and sign in, am told to come back the following day to repeat the same process, complete my workout, happy days. Return the following day after sitting in morning traffic for over half an hour and paying R25 for a parking ticket I’m told that at the De Waterkant branch they only offer one day free passes, despite what it states on the text I received and despite what I was told the previous day. No apology, no explanation, nothing. All round shocking service. No wonder this company has such a terrible reputation globally and that so many of their gyms have already closed down in Cape Town. Needless to say I won’t be joining.
