Liberty Life is obliged to give those whose RAs have matured and whose savings are under a certain threshold the choice to withdraw the whole amount. They dont inform you of this  They also withhold the fact that, if your money is over that threshold then should you wish to, you can take All your money and reinvest two thirds of it in a living annuity at Another company. This withholding of information should be illegal. It amounts to theft. I have been trying to get my money from Liberty Life since my RA matured at the beginning of the year. They never answer emails. They never return calls. After months of being ignored, or sent from pillar to post,  I finally got hold of and submitted the forms and information required to withdraw all my money, which was below the required threshold. In other words, I was entitled to withdraw all my money. By the time they processed my request, however, ad hoc payments which remain unexplained despite my multiple requests, had pushed my amount just over the threshold by a couple of hundred rand. They have failed to explain this sudden ad hoc increase, which occured after I submitted all relevant forms, and lied telephonically to the effect that I am required to reinvest two-thirds of my money with them. They do not respond to emails to avoid any paper trail and only Ever reply, if u are lucky, on the telephone, with lies and promises to look into it. But they never do.  A retirement annuity below the threshold which allows you to withdraw your money may be just sufficient to keep economic collapse, total poverty and utter despair for pensioners at bay. Effectively, Liberty Life get away with blatant lies  and what is tatamount to the illegal withholding (theft) of poor peoples live savings. Liberty life have almost two thousand negative reviews on  #hellopeter and a rating of one star (the lowest possible). Yet nothing is done. This needs to stop.
