The phone is on a voice recording that simply states the office hours. I phoned during office hours. All I want to do it pick up Passport Application Forms, but the website instructs to call first. The branch in Pretoria has no way of contacting the Cape Town branch. The Cape Town staff could all be dead and rotting in the office for all they know. I sincerely hope and pray the passport, when I eventually manage to organise it, isnt sent to the Cape Town office...Edit: I bumped the review up from 1 to 3 stars because once you actually get in contact with the Cape Town staff, they are quite helpful.

The level of service in your Cape Town office is utterly disgraceful. The one-man staff appears to be totally disinterested in his job and does nothing assist the public. He offers no information or advice and seldom takes the trouble to answer the phone. His office is open to the public for only 3 hours per day . What he does with the rest of his time is anyones guess. In my case he received my renewed passport from Pretoria in the first week in March and only when I enquired about the progress of my application - at the end of April - did he find it in a room - having told me that there are parcels in his office going back to last year which he has not opened. He seemed proud of this fact.

Unhelpful. I was told to refer to the Irish Embassy website to assist with my problem. After informing the lady on the phone that I could not find what I was after on the web and would she direct me to where exactly to find the info, I was told to look carefully and call back again if I was unsuccessful. I pleaded with her to help me but she said she knows the info I am after is on the website somewhere but she cant sit on the phone and help because she has other calls to attend to. Needless to say I still have not found what I am after and hesitant to call again.

Poor service .office is dirty handwritten sign on door broken busser. Employee has very poor attitude and is openly hostile its embarrassing that Ireland is re presented in Capetown by such a shambles . My passport sat there for 20 days because this individual claimed he was too busy to call or email me.

The embassy in pretoria is staffed by arrogant and very unhelpful people. They were so bad that it took me 2 years before I was able to contact them again but I got the same recption, cold and not willing to help. I thought the embassy was there to help people. BRIAN POWER.
