Did the application online (2 Adults+ 2 minors). Very easy to navigate. Expedited an appointment in 1 day.Great online communication. Got to consulate an hour before appointment and they seen to us immediately. Staff very friendly and professional. Visa approved and received via DHL 2 days later. From on-line registration/application to receiving passport took 3 business days. Very impressed.

I had a great experience, I’m a US citizen and my passport was damaged from someone who attempted to steal it. The office workers were very professional and happy to help, they answered any questions I had, and helped submit a new application. Would highly recommend for anyone needing passport service

I’m not sure who responds to emails, because the conversation that I had via email was totally disregarded when we went in for our son’s passport. It would be helpful to have someone who’s not a busy body responding to emails and giving word and promises that don’t hold any water. Please give the responsibility to someone with proper authority.

Very professional and helpful. They are quick to assist both via phone and e-mail and we were handled very well by the consulate officer at the time of our interview.

I had my visa interview on 06 June 2019. My appointment was at 08h00 and I was out of the building by 08h30. The staff was very professional and the whole process was quick. There is no near by parking so I do suggest parking at the Pick n Pay Centre and walking up (the walk takes 7 minutes). Have your passport, your DS-160 confirmation page (the print out from the website which confirms your appointment) and visa picture out as those will be needed.

Staff were friendly, atmosphere was nice and the overall experience was highly satisfactory. Would recommend to anyone wishing to apply to travel to the US. The 1 star reviews on here were clearly people who were declined due to whatever reason. Dont be put off, and dont be nervous.

I had a very good experience here. My appointment was at 9:15 I only went in at 9:30 but was out with in half an hour. Very efficient and organised make sure you take your photograph with you and read the application letter.

Parking: Steenberg village, there are only staff parking and drop&go. It is a 500m ish walk.The interview itself was relatively painless, just many people trying to get visas so be patient.

Rude disrespectful experience dealing with admin guy before the interview. Professionalism is not too much to ask for. These are services we are paying a lot of money for, behave accordingly.

Im a US citizen. Calls are answered by an automatic answering machine, saying to call during office hours (I WAS calling in office hours). Emails receive automated responses to to check their website for any and all information you can possibly have... When accessing the interview bookings site I got a service error as well. So pretty inaccessible.But once there I found that everyone was knowledgeable and patient. And no waiting in queues!

Pathetic service,I understand the security requirements but they do not help anyone in any situation.You can’t park near by or wait, they chase you away like you are a terrorist.You can take security measures but don’t treat people like we are begging to visit your country and be humiliated by your cheap security guards

Ive had to visit the consulate twice and have been mightily impressed on both occasions. Worth getting there early, and remember you cant park there - either get someone to drop you off, or take a 10 minute walk from the Steenberg Shopping Centre.

I dropped my daughter off for her D160 Visa Application / Interview, and was told that I could not park at the Main Building. Instead I had to drive 500m down the road to park at the local Checkers Centre and walk back up. If it was a beautiful sunny day, that would have been wonderful! However, we have torrential rain today and that suggestion seems ridiculous. Anyway, the security officer was very friendly and polite. My recommendation... get parking for your clients, you dont need that many free spaces!

It took TWO DAYS from the time of my appointment to my visa in hand. Also, I spent a total of 30min at the consulate. Really impressive service!

First of all they built the consulate deep in the suburbs in the middle of nowhere which is of use to no one. Just pray you never have to access the consulate in an emergency. They staff are not helpful and are rude. 3 times I have trekked out to the consulate for an emergency passport and I have received no help and I’m about to be stranded in Cape Town. If you can, do your business in Durban or Joburg. One of the worst consulates I have ever experienced.

Very rude person I dealt with .asked 3 questions and rest of the time she was typing and deny me a visa.only had eye contact when I asked her about the denial she told me that I can read from the paper that she had given me Money making business .no refund and it was my 3rd time paying R2500 She never looked at my documents. Never asked about itI was invited to visit but I was blantly told that I was lying and that want to move to U.S.

My daughter had the most horrible experience by one of your employees. She has been invited to visit her friend in LA - all expenses paid for 34 days only and was denied a visitors visa for no apparent reason!!She has no intention in ever permanently residing in your country and is the most decent and nature loving person and you denied her the opportunity to see her friend with who she has been friends with since they were 8 years old.She has just lost her only brother on the 27th of December 2015 and her friend lost her twin brother 7 years ago and the two brothers had the same name MARC too - so the two of them really need each other at this point of time. BUT NO .... YOUR employee with no empathy denied her the visit of a lifetime. You wont allow our daughter who is a honest human being to visit your country but you allow people that should be behind bars into your country.I am furious at your actions

I wouldnt go out my way to give a bad rating if they could answer my questions. Ive been there twice, they rejected my visa even though Id brought papers that went against the reason for rejection and they pushed me out the line immediately. You pay for a gambled yes or no answer. Very unprofessional.

Worst experience at a company ever! When you honestly apply to Ho on a holiday and spend R2500 just to go for the interview and the consular spends 2 minutes talking to you and declines your application, he didnt even look at any of my extra papers from my work my flat showing my strong ties in South Africa or my letter of invitation I mean it a blerrie horrible just out to make money, do they think you walk around and pick the R2500 of a tree??? Totally unexceptable

Another case of visa denial after a two minute interview and refusal to look at supporting paperwork. Given a generic letter stating the denial was because I could not prove sufficient ties to or intent to return to my home country. How can this be when no opportunity was given to provide the proof? The judgement of lack of intent to return is an accusation of intent to become an illegal immigrant, i.e. a criminal. I now have to make the call to my American mother in law to tell her her son and I will not be at the family reunion.

I am very disappointed about the visa officer, I am semi professional prayer I was invite to participate in a tryout at western Nevada fc I went the day of interview which was last week but the visa officer hardly asked for my supporting documents and dinied the visa what the hell they only think every body might run away once they reach the United State. big No why must I go there and stay illegally in the country that I know no one impossible. and I have ties here in SA. the denied letter doesnt make sens cause it says strong ties can be school, family, employees. .. I did have it all why they dont ask for that I feel very shame. because they are contributed in peoples fail. that tryout out is an opportunity for my life because its for my career and my families they dont think about.
