If u want some good music theather performance & stories of Cape Town than this is the place. Food options is limited because it buffet & there is not a lot of variety. Having said that the food served is traditional cape Malay & south African which is really good. The performance from the artists is simply fantastic & will take one away to a different period in time. One should go there at least once to experience it.

Lovely place but service could have been better. The rooms are fantastic and with a stunning view. Breakfast was good and the Kaapse Story Theatre was incredible.

This is a solid affordable hotel experience for anything from the backpacker to the more cost-effective professional.I stayed in a three-bedroom corner unit. The rooms are furnished nicely with modern pieces. The corner room has a magnificent wrap around balcony and a massive living room. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, plus a powder room in the entryway. The kitchen was ample size and came with pots and pans. The laundry room had a functional washer and dryer, but no detergent. Be sure to bring your own, or buy some for $20 rand at the nearby pay and pick down the street. The rooms had little bottles of shampoo, bars of body soap, and plenty of towels.The staff is exceptionally nice. Whatever request we had, they were more than willing to help. They were also attentive and delivered on their promises.The location is great. It’s right smack dab in the middle of Cape Town’s gayborhood. I was there with my partner and felt safe holding hands, but still got the usual stares we’ve received so far in Africa. If you’re looking for a wonderful dinner, try “Riva” around the corner. The restaurant is an Italian seafood dream. Then, head over to Cafe Manhattan two blocks away for some tasty drinks, plenty of gay kitschy decor, and LGBT+ people. End your night dancing at Cape Bar, a fun and lively dance club that is close enough to walk home to.If you’re looking for a coffee, try Vida in the mini-mall down the street, or Kamili or Shift if you’re willing to travel for a cup of joe.

A show with history mixed with a range of music thats typical Cape Town. Attended a lunch time version, food was great, service was awesome and entertainment was superb. The Opera pieces were mind blowing. Definitely recommend you attend and bring your family and visitors.

Lovely South African dinner experience, while listening to the background music & watching the performance. The dinner consists of a delicious starter of samoosa, fish paté & pickled onion. Salad & bread on the table. Main course is buffet - veg breyani, potato bake, samp, basmati rice, butter chicken curry, lamb stew, line fish & mixed vegetables. Dessert was a tasty milktart slice & (a somewhat dry) malva pudding with a dash of cream.The performance from the cast was average, with a rendition of District 6, the apartheid era & the move of the people from their homes (sad but true story). Mediocre humour, but the voices were beautiful...a talented eclectic mix of people. There was portrayal of a new era (release of Mandela) & voting in of new govt., hope & glory with us winning a bid 2 host the World Cup. Waitrons & serving staff are professional & attentive.

Nice Hotel in the Greenpoint area of Cape Town. We stayed in appartments, wich were very comfortable and quite spacey. Everu appartment has its own kitchen, so you cann choose wetjer to.go.out for dinner or to stay in your appartment. Very friendly and helpful staff.

An amazing show to watch while having dinner. It shows off Cape Towns rich ethnicity. Well done to a brilliant cast and Basil Apollis.

Entertainment was okay but the band was good. Food could be improved though. More presence of waiters/waitresses especially when the buffet is open. Had to wait for one to appear to place another order of drinks.

Guests are not given a chance to just absorb atmosphere on arrival. It is (very loud) Jazz music, too loud to have a conversation before the actual show starts. The same at the end of the show. When it is over, let it be over. Let guests finish their drinks, pay their bill without more loud background music. Food very tasty but definitely no second helping.

Perfect place for an intimate wine Tasting.... Benito, the wine expert was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! He took us through different wines and their cultivar..

Kaapse stories was amazing, what a fantastic performance. They need to improve the food serving situation, instead of a buffet rather serve platters on the table that people at the table can dish from.Other than that, I can see they have invested quite a bit into the place from when they started. Still the best theatre in Cape town.

Halfway through my week-long stay and it is lovely so far. Two bedroom suite for 4 of us and is all we need. Close by to the Waterfront and convention center (15 min walk either way). The biggest plus though would be the lovely staff who are always ready to please. Id recommend it.

The food was good.The singers voices were good, especially the opera singer and the main woman.I couldnt follow the story line.The show has great potential, if they can build a suitable narrative around the songs

A great display of the variety and complexity that South African society and more so the colored community in District 6 is made up of. Informative, fun and interactive... And the food was good and authentic.

Dont be fooled by the outside appearance, this hotel is top class and great value for money.Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean rooms with fully equipped kitchens (used a 2 bedroomed apartment). Only downside is all the basins and tubs have had their stoppers removed in a bid to help the city save water. So expect to use only the shower in all rooms

If you local its lekker and if you are not from the country you are in for a real treat.. A taste of culture and cuisine. The staff are unbelievable and talented. Very Interactive :)

Great show, I was expecting it to be dominated by Klopse music and lifestyle but nope, it captured everyone In Cape Town and those guys can really seeing.

Booked Rockwell hotel with the intention of asking my long time girlfriend to marry me. View was nice room was nice. Everything went well until we wanted to eat and do the evening. Service is abominable, they essentially took a special day away from me and my 9 year girlfriend.If youre planning an engagement and a special day of any kind. DO NOT DO IT AT THE ROCKWELL. Honest to God pick another place

Great besides the orange juice shower caused by the waitstress. No apology for ruining my clothes or a way to dry /wipe myself. Floor was cleaned only. Food was absolutely amazing. Show was spectacular and fun as well.

Hi..we were there on the 24 feb. 2020...for the firts time...it was quit entertaining...good atmophere..but bit pricey...the food was not tooo good..i think u should change the cook..ans menue...the food that we make @ home is more enjoyable...the music was good..thanks!!!!!

Absolutely pathetic housekeeping! Room was not ready upon check in only to find it still dirty. Secind day here & room was not serviced at 6pm!!! I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!

This is THE place to experience Cape Town food within a Cape Town culture show. An excellent show

What a hidden gem! Kaapse Stories has being playing for five years. However, it has only been at The Rockwell Theatre for the past two years. The dinner - show combo just works! With excellent organisation, comfortable seating and an engaging cast, this serves as a great nights entertainment. Ample parking is available. The ambience is a little less than theatrical but nonetheless a theatre I will return to.

Stunning Theatre...excellent service

An over all good stay in September 2016. However when it came to accommodating our requests they were very unhelpful. Myself and 5 other runners stayed here for the Cape Town marathon. We requested a late check out as after the race we wanted to shower before going back to Johannesburg. We got a resounding NO! Myself and 6 other runners then cancelled our 2 oceans accomdation as this place cannot cater for runners. Not a good move as there are many awesome races in the Cape!

Stayed for just two nights but great location, clean spacious apartments, and a great price. This hotel is in walking distance to the Waterfront (especially convenient if youre taking a tour of Robben Island) and are in a great location close to shops, restaurants, and bars.We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartments (3 of us) complete with a full kitchen, living area and balcony with a great view of Table Mountain. Absolutely no complaints on this hotel - would definitely stay there again.

Locked Down Toilets for Visitors to the Hotel - Shocking treatment of visitors to the beautiful city of Cape Town. By instruction of the Hotel Owner the toilets are locked - unless you are a guest in the hotel with special assess disc. while the hotel operate an open bar and common area open for external visitors there are no public toilets with visitors being denied access.Is it legal ? never mind degrading for anyone experience...

Welcoming staff in the foyer are shoved up their own arses far enough to forget that theyre in the hospitality industry. Unhelpful and just nonchalant about everything. The actual apartment itself was good apart from one or two cracks and a shower that had water gushing out onto the floor. Lovely views and good location

Just elaborating because of Rockwell Apts reply (which is good, glad to see theyre responsive)--my rating is slightly lower because when my mother and I arrived at our apartment, there was no power. We informed reception but for some reason they thought it was loadshedding (even though the power was on in the rest of the building) so it took more than an hour for the issue to be addressed. Then it took another half an hour to move us to a different apartment.The new apartment was very nice (the original was good too), but the fact that we were originally given an apartment where the power just didnt function for some reason is not acceptable (especially at that price). I do understand that loadshedding complicates everything, but still.

We rented an apartment from an owner. Everything was just perfect. It was neat and tidy and modern. Had a great view too of the harbour. Very central

I loved the theatrics, singing and live music, especially the isi-Xhosa songs and the opera singer. The crew had an infectious energy and we were warmly welcomed, however, the food and service was disappointing, I only enjoyed the butter chicken.

Nice , small intimate theatre and the food was good. The cost was very affordable.

Considering that the tickets are in the same price range as that of Mademe Zingara dinner and theatre performance, we felt that Kaapse Stories is very overpriced. Venue, dinner and performance was mediocre, albeit the singing, especially the opera, was delightful and saved the evening.

Clean beautiful large rooms, good restaurants. Few minute drive to waterfront, also accessible in foot. Wifi is unreliable though.

Rudimentals are great entertainers, in no time at all you are up dancing,. Nice evening. We had fish and chips and a Mezze. Fish and chips at over R100, feels borderline ok in price, we ordered Meze at R250, it was over priced for what you get. 2 chicken wings, 2 small kebab stick, a couple of pita breads, some dip, affordable felafal, 2 small portions of fish 🤔. Cost probably no more than R50 in ingredients, I dont mind paying for food food. Just dont like it when there is no perceived value. I think this should be priced ar R150.

Lovely meeting place for lunch or drinks. Great sushi restaurant on the patio called Izakaya Matsuri.

Do not expect the glitz of some other dinner shows in Europe. Nonetheless the singera and music are really excellent. The show feels very personal and describes a celebration of life in Cape Town even the darker aspe ta associated with apartheid and District sox, on a way that only Cape Townians can do. Food quite good too. Hats provided on the table are not free to keep but are on sale at R80 each
