If your into visiting architectural gems. This is one of Cape Towns finest. A must see inside. An exemplary piece of classical architecture built by the early settlers of Cape Town. Circulation is around the dome with books dating back to early 19th century.

This is such a beautiful building. Really underrated. Great place to have quiet time to read a book in a wood paneled hall. Great place for events and weddings. Come hungry for knowledge! Staff are welcoming and helpful. Loads of instagrammable sports. Please support this place with a donation before you leave!

Worth a visit if you like things off the beaten track. See if you can go upstairs and out onto the roof. Great views of the city bowl and the gardens from there.

A beautiful and historic plac for research and literature. The architecture gives the place a sense of old wonder. And the resources may still be used today.

I love love love this space, if you can appreciate the existential visceral experience which classical artchitecture can offer to the human senses do yourself a favour and visit. I think strictly speaking its not Classical but quite close to it, one can get a honest sense of the dome, albeit mainly from one specific spot. Similar to those Americanised Neo-Classical Monuments in the New World Metropole its kinda similar to the real examples found in Europe... kinda. The real takeaway here is that this beautiful building is absolutely hidden and NO ONE knows about it, so psssst, dont tell anyone! Oh, yes and apparently its an archive for the University of Cape Town Mathematics Faculty?
