Ordered orange duck and sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice. All three were not nice. The duck was very dry and extremely boney, hardly any sauce. The sweet and sour chicken not the best and the rice tasted like leftovers.Recommendation: add even chives to the sweet and sour chicken. It will look better and more sauce.Orange duck: it’s so pricey for basically something that’s not worth it. Consider using only breast and actually have some sauce and some greens to make it look appetizing not just brown and bland.Rice: use nice fresh rice not leftover looking rice.

Ive only had chow mein once before today....Was sooooo nice..This one was oily and soggy... It smelled like fish.We did not enjoy this at all...

Mama’s kitchen is top notch in every sense of the word. I absolutely adore Asian Cuisine and this place surprised me in all the right ways. I have also lived in Taiwan and China so I am well aware of what Asian cuisine is suppose to taste like. We ordered vegetables spring rolls and chicken chow mein ... it is probably the best in Cape Town that I have tasted. The spring rolls and noodles where packed with vegetables which a lot of places lack. Well done from ordering to collection to consumption the whole experience is 5 out of 5.

Mhh moderate prices provide a very old tradition Chinese restaurant including a smoking area and lazy suzans at most of the tables. Overall very good service and nice people plus they are very hygienic

Love their chicken chow mein, havent tried any of the other chinese dishes on the menu, but Im sure it will be just as good. Their sushi is also very good. They do delivery in certain areas, and pick up is also welcome and you dont wait very long for orders,best to phone and place your order so when you get there you just pay and go.

Love having the occasional Chinese take out and Mama’s Kitchen is always a top pic. Food is always fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly and helpful. Service is quick but on occasion if you wait it will be worth it. The sushi is also always fresh, great and very well priced. You will not be disappointed.

The best duck ever

Very annoyed and disappointed, last time we received 2 sesame chicken without any sesame and received a poor excuse of an apology 5 days later and now had a meal short and the person who answered the phone acted as if its our fault and we are inconveniencing him!!! Would definitely not recommend this restaurant!

WOW! This place is an absolute hidden gem. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. The staff are friendly and on the ball. The bar is very well stocked. And the food? The BEST Chinese food Ive had in a long long time. Each dish was delicately flavoured and textured. Amazing! You must try the sesame chicken, succulent with a delicious sticky saucy. I will be back for seconds.... And thirds..... And you get the picture.

Decent food with a wide variety. You can book out a room if you need a private meeting. The staff is very friendly and remembers you if you are a regular. They have also a sushi bar.This is especially good if you have a larger amount of people and you can share the food.

We love Chinese food and eat out a lot. Mamas, a family run business, is by far the best of all the Chinese eateries we have been to in the Western Cape. If you are adventurous, you should leave the decisions up to Jack the owner, who all ways finds something new and special on the authentic Chinese menu to try. We just keep going back - Superb!

I really wanted to like this restaurant as it was recommended by a colleague, is close to home, has a good rating and seems to have loyal regulars. Unfortunately I was disappointed. My experience started off poorly when I phoned in my takeaway order, as the person taking it was impatient, unhelpful - he couldnt advise the amount of rice I would need - and just rude - halfway through taking my order, he asked me to hold the call I was paying for to attend to another customer! He then said it would take 20-30 mins. I arrived after 20 mins only to have to wait an additional 35 minutes! They didnt seem that busy - there was a birthday table and only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant, another 2 people waiting for their takeaways, one collection, and one more order while I was waiting, so I dont understand why it took so long. I thought at least the food must be good to make the wait - and the price - worthwhile. Arrived home and the sauce had spilled into the packet and my car, as they use those polystyrene containers with the flip-lids. Opened the containers and they hadnt been filled completely.The worst is the food was bland and just.. meh. The one item was meant to have chillies, but didnt. Not worth the price in terms of either quantity or quality. I doubt Ill order from them again.

Ordered take away last night and it was a Disappointing seafood chow mein, no flavor and celery didnt do dish any favors, also ordered sweet and sour chicken which was done proper however the side of fried rice was stodgy like sushi rice that has been heated up with soya. The service was awesome. Staff are friendly and the meal presentation was great. Only problem was the sushi. It wasnt well prepared. It was falling apart and wasnt cut straight. A little disappointed since everything else was good.

Your typical Chines restaurant nothing special. Decent hot food. Bit to much rice and mayo on the sushi. The sushi belt does not work which takes away from your usual sushi bar.
