Do not use Fix Forward - its not worth the risk. Their system is too easily abused by incompetent workmen and the company takes zero responsibility. They totally failed on a very simple bathroom remodel of ours - see photos. Contractor had no transport, was repeatedly dishonest and entirely incompetent. The only vetting the company does is to pull the contractors criminal record. You could do that yourself. Unfortunately, they only explained this after the job was botched and after they paid the guy and while they actually insisted that we get the same contractor back to fix snags.Dont take my word for it - you can read the other reviews like this one. If you get a competent contractor, its pure luck. And - do read their terms of use - because thats all they will repeatedly say to you if/when things go South.
Please avoid!!!!I wanted a simple remodel done of my bathroom which could not have been worse if I had imagined. The contractors had no transport, they quoted for things that were never bought and they could not do tiling or plumbing like was said they could. My plumbing is leaking and the tiles are skew and uneven. Fix forward will take NO responsibility if/when things go wrong and you will not get reimbursed. Please avoid this company and take your money, time and effort elsewhere. Highly disappointed and appalled at their ethics and company.
I had quite an amazing experience with Fix Forward. In particular their contractor, Fanie. He was so professional, which in the building game is rare... I will use them over and over.
We’ve used Fix Foward many times for our home repairs and everytime for something different - quality service and efficiency . Thank you - highly recommend them
Yaeesh Allie of Allied Plumbing provided great service - prompt, efficient and full of sensible advice about problems being experienced with using the water from my rain water tank. His invoice was extremely detailed and although I did not spend as much as initially quoted - I will definitely be using him again.
I contacted Fix Forward as we were renovating our kitchen and needed help with plastering of the walls after the old cupboards had been removed. They were extremely professional after I followed the process on their web page. One of their contracted service providers, Samson (from SNC & Brothers) contacted me and came to give a quote. Wow, what a breath of fresh air! It was such a pleasure working with Samson and his crew, that we asked them to come back at the end of the process to do our splash-back tiling as well. We then needed someone to cut granite for us and again approached Fix Forward. They referred me to Yandisa and we had the same wonderful experience with him and his crew. First Forward will always be my first port of call for any future construction-related needs that arise. Absolutely blown away by the professionalism of their staff and contracted service providers.
Everyone I engaged with from making a request to the contractor who fixed my lavatories, they were responsive, professional and supportive. I appreciated the assurance that their contractors are reliable and professional.
FixForwards proposition of connecting homeowners with vetted, expert contractors, and providing guidance throughout a project, is a compelling one when there are so many dubious tradesmen out there. The social development angle is also to be supported. Unfortunately what ultimately matters is the end result for the customer and in this regard I can only say my experience was a very poor one and I would not use them again.I hired one of their hand-picked contractors for the very simple job of replacing water-damaged exterior timber planks and doing a full repaint. The contractor was very affable and willing but just a few short months later paint is blistering and peeling off in multiple areas and revealing rotten timber planks that werent replaced. On contacting FixForward to voice my disappointment and request that they provide technical support to the contractor to help remedy the situation, given they clearly didnt know what they were doing, FixForward simply replied that they wouldnt be held responsible to cover any costs (I didnt ask for any financial compensation) and wouldnt provide any assistance beyond offering to refer another tradesman. This outcome is inconsistent with the empty promises they make on their website with the customer left having to navigate themselves out of the mess when things go wrong.Avoid.
My outside gate had been dragging on the floor since I moved in in April. After trying various solutions to fix it with a friend, we finally gave up and decided to ask for a professional’s help. I contacted Fix Forward between Christmas and New Year, right in the middle of the builders’ holidays, but they had someone available to assist a couple of days later. The quote was very reasonable and the gate is standing as it should once again. Quality service at a reasonable price, that’s all you can ask for. I’d definitely use their services again for house maintenance projects,
Fix forward does not vet their contractors and will not take responsibility for bad workmanship. I had a small problem with a section of my roof above the kitchen which I wanted to have done before everything shuts down in December. I contacted Fix Forward as the contractor I wanted to use was too busy and was only available in the new year.A BIG MISTAKE. I was sent Charles Tarentaal who created a DISASTER. He arrived without a ladder and did major damage. I had damage to my walls, another area of my ceiling and kitchen cupboards as a result of the water that poured down. He came out to repair the damage but the improvement was that I only needed 3 buckets in the kitchen over Christmas.Throughout this situation I was communicating with Saskia at fix forward. She responded occasionally but somehow didnt (?) get all my messages.I had reached an impasse until I mentioned to a friend who knew the organization about the poor service from fix forward and contacted Josh in my presence. I immediately got a call from Saskia telling me how they would be assisting me to sort out the problem. They sent out Cleo who was horrified at what Charles had done. He took pics to report back. And it was back to large silences from Saskia. Again not receiving my messages (?) when I enquired about what was happening.I was then advised what I needed to pay for my share of the repairs. I indicated that I would be responsible for the section of the ceiling that had prior damage. However, Saskia was then adamant that the walls had prior damp damage for which I was responsible!!! At that point I lost my cool completely. I was livid about the whole situation, the intermittent silences, the fact that she was adamant that it was not fix forwards responsibility and that she was so insistent about damage that was not there prior that I slammed down the phone. It was obvious at that point that Fix Forward does the bare minimum to operate a platform to attract funds but not offer a valid and reliable service. My friend who had previously called Josh about the problem requested that I make the public aware of the poor service offered by Fix Forward.
Friends of mine had a leak in there roof and fix foward was recommended. They sent a roofing contractor to them and now have 12 leaks and they are still waiting foe the peoblem to be resolved. Shoddy workmanship and no one wanta to take responsibility.
We have 4 rental properties to manage, and 2 of the properties needed attention at the same time, plus we travel a lot and cant go to site, it was very easy to use the Fix Forward platform, and both tradesmen were great, did what they said they would when they would, and both of them demonstrated loads of initiative
As recently arrived in South Africa from the UK home owner, I was looking for recommendations for someone to paint the exterior of my property in Cape Town & found Fix Forward via a local community page. Their quote beat the others. I also like their business model as Im firm believer in suporting local tradesmen and the community. Moffat Nokama and his team arrived when they said they would and completed the job bang on time and tidied away each night. He and his crew were a delight to work alongside as well as being both charming and diligent. I can recommend Moffat with no hesitation whatsover.
Excellent
Jabulani from FixForward did an excellent job of replacing my roof tiles in the terrible storm that hit Cape Town some months back. None of the traditional roofing companies were available to assist as they were too busy with far worse roofing problems. It was good to know that I could call on FixForward to help me especially as I was in Joburg at the time.
