It was nice to be there
The children of the Al Azhar High school had an outreach program with the elderly ladies of the Kensington Community at the Kensington Library Hall. They handed out some bed socks. The bed socks was a joint effort with learners and parents. The wool was a donation from the Shoprite wool Supplier, Saprotex. The ladies were also treated to a breakfast
The Kensington Community Hall ( the Civic Centre) has been a beacon in the community for more than 45 years. It is therefore obvious that some of the original features are old/worn/broken and has to be changed. Some good changes were made:1) a new stripper and coating was beautifully applied to the main dance floor;(2) new novilon was applied to the foyer and bathroom area;(3) a new toilet for the disabled was built but this stayed lock during the event;(4) new entrance doors of which more than one must be unlocked during an event for emergency evacuation procedures;(5) some windows must be replaced for ventilation;PROBLEM:1) all the wall lights are not working including the emergency exit light at the main EXIT door;2) a more hygienic watering point should also be available for drinking purposes; only one water saving tap in the toilet;3) toilet paper in the Ladies toilet was up by 11:30pm and there were no fresh rolls available;RECOMMENDATIONS:1) the new tables and the older ones must get a darker varnishing;2) about 10 Tressel tables stands/legs must be fixed with new hinges and screws; a few must be strengthened with new rope;3) the broken lights series must be replaced asap.4) the stopping time for Friday functions should remain at 1am and Saturdays at 12 midnight.5) brooms and mops should be available to the client near the foyer and toilets.

I attended a peagant and there was parking, there is a police station just across the street, which made parking such a relief and the building is wheelchair friendly.
