A family run garden centre which I have been frequenting for the past 37 years. Knowledgeable staff that go through a rigorous hands on training programme. Landscaping service offered. Fun events for children. A lovely restaurant surrounded by plants. A little piece of heaven if you just want to walk around and relax. Dogs allowed on a leash. Besides plants a wonderful shopping experience awaits you and tempts one indoors. Well displayed treasure trove of gifts for all ages and occasions. Well worth a visit.

Great selection of plants and pots with helpful and patient staff. Loved walking around to look at everything, I mustve spent over an hour just going around and looking at their selection. There is also an adorable little Cafe if you want to have a coffee or bite while youre there.I would definitely recommend it. Some of their pots and indoor plants are more on the pricey side but the soil, outdoor plants and plastic pots are more reasonable.

The service is good. They even know their customers at the till points. It makes you feel you are part of the family

I drove all the way here to buy bulbs to plant in my garden. I couldnt find any and asked the staff. They informed me that they dont sell light bulbs! Very useless staff that dont know anything. Next time I will go to Cape Garden Centre their staff are amazing.

Pleasant Nursery, friendly and Helpful Staff but definitely Over Priced Plants and and not really many significant Specials. Definitely think this is going to be a Major Factor for them in the future.

Nice variety of plants but quite pricey compared to other nurseries.

The entrance is beautifully displayed with inspiring items you can purchase for decorating your home and for the garden. Relax atmosphere and spacious walkways. Good variety of plants and a big selection of compost and fertilizer to choose from. Inside the nursery, amongst all the beautiful planters theres a lovely restaurant.

Generally a really good gardening center - good variety plants and gardening stuff. Generally well versed staff. The horticulturist on duty is normally really knowledgeable and helpful. Could be seen as pricey sometimes.

Starke Ayers Rosebank is my happy place. The sheer beauty of the colours, variety and the beautiful surroundings makes this place very special. The staff is very friendly and helpful, with a great knowledge of anything botanical.

Everyone was most helpful and I came away very satisfied

False advertising- they open at 08:30 not at 08:00. Besides which, the way in which they keep their carnivorous plants (low light, soil soaking not moist etc.) explains why they all look yellow and sickly. Not very impressive for those who are meant to have horticultural knowledge- even worse in this day and age where that information is just a simple google search away

Got no annuals!! Stocks, phlox, nemesis, sunflowers, verbena... Totly disgusting!! Dirty tables at coffee shop. Had sanitizer empty.... Used to be good

Such a gorgeous setting to have lunch! It’s so accessible and the price range is good! Had a very filling fish and chips which I had to share with a friend! We were still both full, so I really recommend this spots for students who are looking for a relaxing spot in rosebank! And grab yourself a plant on the way out, to liven up your room!

Starke Ayers is a great place to get plants as they have a good variety. They are a little pricey and Im very underwhelmed by their potting soils. Their own standard one has so many bits of plastic in. Recently I bought potting medium for orchids, bit its entirely unusable. Firstly it is really hard to get someone who works there to help you find something. When you eventually do they seem like they have better things to do. This particular time the shop assistant hurriedly gave me the smallest bag, then didnt offer any advice for use. When I opened the bag, the bark chunks were so massive, I actually can use them to pot anything. Very disappointed in the service and product.

I love this garden centre. The plants always look so healthy. There is such a huge variety of pots and plants and the usual compost, stones, pavers, mulch etc. There a lovely restaurant . The perfect place to refresh after shopping. The gift shop inside the main building has wonderful items. I make a point of visiting every year to look at their Christmas range and display. Truly stupendous

Waited till 09:30 for Stark Ayres to open (their sign says they open at 09:00). No one in sight and no one answering the phone. Very disappointed.

Poor service. Phoned ahead to check tree prices, arrived to find that the price was actually more than double what they said and hugely over priced at that. No thank you

I do love this garden centre but crikey it is expensive. That is a subjective comment based on zero scientific research. There are cheaper garden centres but admittedly not as nice or not as close to the city center.The staff are mostly really well trained. Now and then there is a blank look but there will always be a few who can step in and be the font of info that we have grown(no pun intended) to expect.The diversity and quality of goods is impressive, fhe diversity of plants AND VEGETABLES is great. And having a huge source of worm juice is just fabulous.And there is a lovely simple fare coffee shop. And doggies are allowed.Well done Starke Ayres.

The nursery is well laid out. It is hard to leave without buying anything. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The gift shop has a fascinating variety of things to want. There is a restaurant on site serving delicious breakfasts and lunch and their cakes look tempting as well

A good all round garden shop selling garden implements, and a range of succulents, indoor plants and edible plants. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is also lots of parking and it is open until 5pm on Sunday.

I am very disappointed with Human Nature, the story I am going to tell you has become the Norm, its such a shame I am a paying customer at Stark Ayires, I am going to help out at a farm just outside of Cape Town, 2 classes a month teaching about Monoculture and Permiculture, the farm Telus completely on donations and is there for people who cannot cope with what life has become. I asked one of the workers there if they could help with donations and anything would do, he was very happy to help and was going to take me to where the broken pots were and pebbles,etc.. Until management stopped us and informed me I needed a letter with a letterhead for a charity, I said that I was not a charity I was simply asking for a kindness from them but she held to her polite posture, and carried on as if she never even heard me. Shame on you Stark Ayres.

Really fantastic garden centre with a lovely restaurant. Unfortunately prices are a bit higher than Stodels but the atmosphere is so relaxing. Consider a stroll through and stop for a cup of coffee at the restaurant.
