Loved our downwind camp in January 2020. What an epic experience, cant wait to return! Learned and improved a huge amount in varied conditions with the extremely experienced and competent Mocke brothers and their talented crew. Just amazing to be coached by these fun, expert world champs - what an incredible privilege! We were challenged while always feeling safe as our skills developed. Mother Nature gave us her best conditions, scenery and wildlife in beautiful Capetown. Great fun, super-thoughtfully curated, fantastic photography (thanks John and Taz) the best hospitality and plenty of knowledge sharing (about South Africa, paddling and so much more). Wonderful people all around (the Mocke family/crew and our now-extended paddle family we spent the week with). What a magical experience! Thank you to the whole Mocke Team. Woohoo! Awesome!!

Thanks again Mocke Team! You have made this experience way beyond my highest expectations.... from paddling, to hot cocoa, to my new Mocke pants, to entertaining stories, to woohoo-ing more than I ever had in my paddling life, to witnessing seals, penguins and a caracal, to this whole wonderful paddling community you have created between Cape Town Melbourne, San Martín, Belgium, Singapore and Hong Kong.... I’m super grateful for everything .... see you next year!! You’re A Class coaches, paddlers and amazing human beings 💯

I learned more in the 10 days at the downwind camp than I had in years by myself. Amazing coaches, facilities and overall experience. And of course, Millers Run is everything I had imagined it would be, and more. Im going back for sure for continue learning from the best in the business!

One of my best decisions of year 2017!Joining Mocke Downwind Camp turned out to be two weeks of an absolute downwind bliss while learning from the best in the world on one of the very best downwind runs in the world!Training program during camp is adapted to every individual to make it a safe experience and push individual limits at the same time under the watchfull eye of Dawid, Jasper and the crew.

This camp is such a tremendous experience on so many levels. The Mockes have created an atmosphere that is absolutely amazing. From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure, the experience is immersive. It is confronting, yet safe -- and it is one where I have grown immensely. Every detail is above and beyond expectation, from the boats and equipment always being in good repair, loaded and ready to go, to sensational accommodation, excellent food, climbing Table Mountain (on a rest day, of course) and showing off the beauty of Cape Town. And further, being welcome in the Mocke homes, clubs, churches and communities. The Mockes created a perfect mini-squad for the entire two week period. We in this years camp each cared for one another deeply, we all learned and grew together and we were all very sad to be leaving.I will definitely be back. To me, this feels like a pilgrimage for life. I cannot thank all who created and participated in this experience enough.

Many years of trying my hand at downwind paddling came together in 2 magnificent weeks at Fish Hoek. On eleven of the fourteen days the wind blew greater than 30 knots. This concentrated experience, combined with the Mocke brothers style of teaching, made establishment and reinforcement of essential skills easy. The two weeks extends to giving a flavour of the Surfski culture of South Africa. A special time comes with taking part in the weekly Sea Dogs races at Fish Hoek SLC. The experience is so good, I’ll be back in November 2018.

Sometimes surfski paddling looks like gliding over the mythical Caicai lips. Like in dancing, grace is paramount to speed from Millers Point rock to Fish Hoek sands. This is surfski for real, I can’t believe I made it.Sure, I was really concerned if I would be able to do only once the famous run, not to mention, twice a day, for ten days. Dawid and Jasper had everything well-organized. A regular schedule, fine skis, plus an amazing crew paddling the runs with us. There was a specific plan, a purpose, no matter the prevailing conditions, for each one, every day. Theory and practice, nuggets and goals, always raising the bar.The experience is thrilling, so intense, you are not able to size how much you learned, till you return home to your own fields of practice. Then you realize you got to a new level of confidence. Fantastic experience.

The prospect of spending a week in Fishoek with a group of eager paddlers under the tutelage of Dawid and Jasper Mocke is mouthwatering. The last week of November 2017 brought 13 Millers Downwinds in 6.5 days in conditions that were described as “exceptional” on the first day, and simply got better. The week totally lived up to the hyped expectations! When it comes to paddling, fear not. No matter what your level of experience or expertise is, each of the brothers and the members of their terrific team provide appropriate oversight with generous and expert guidance. For an elderly amateur like myself, to be taught and enthusiastically encouraged by the worlds best on the holy grail of downwinds, l simply could not wish for more. The inclusive hospitality and spirit of friendship and community are superb. Accommodation is convenient, user friendly and comfortable. It is tough to choose a highlight, whether it be a PB Millers or a backseat behind a competitive paddling powerhouse that is a Mocke brother, take your pick!
