The OAC handled the funeral of my mother outstandingly well.I am thankful to my brother and sister who organized this from abroad as well as our childhood friend, who was our link to this closure.Cold Covid times meant extreme social distancing measures, though we all remembered the reason. Many thanks to the elder Louw for a beautiful service. We always remember officers and their wives and families as selfless people offering their time in times like these, without monetary compensation.Perhaps the following was not understood:1. The OAC funerals I have been organist for in the past, were allowed a photo of the deceased in the front of the church. We were denied this.2. A request came for the keyboard to be played, and we were denied also this - thankfully so as I am rusty, though I would have faced it and done it for those it would have comforted.Fortunately most of us who have been through lifes lessons of not being attached to goods or things that make no difference, the above perhaps could have really helped with her sisters grieve as well as grandchildrens. We understand we cannot have time back, we cannot change that, in the same manner we cannot change anything of the past.It remains painful that someone who offered her marriage and children for her beliefs, someone who played a role in the taking up of new members and forming of new communities in this church, were not given this last bit of dignity that so many of us, also members and family, hold dearly close to our hearts. No resentment, just staring at facts after closing a chapter in our lives, that will long be remembered.Therefor thank you to every officer of your church who made this possible, even though it is a replaceable building and could have been done elsewhere. For two of her children that belong to your organization, it meant a lot. It also meant something to me.The attached photo of sister Nellie Paulsen, our very own Iron Lady. Irreplaceable, loved to the core.Well miss you mom, until peace fetches us too.14 November 1943 - 12 April 2021. We wanted you to be 100, you died too soon and those who says 77 is a good innings did not love you in the way we did.
People are very friendly, accomodating and listen to what one has to say.
