Update: To having heaped praise on you, and all the hard work Danielle has done to come to my new home and find your technicians didnt even test the line and now I must sit without internet the whole weekend, and your support agent wasnt helpful at all. How pathetic that I cant even work from home. I cannot believe how youre technical support took what good work was done to destroy it so easily bu doing their job right the first time. What a shame.Update 06/10/2021 - Just dont use Comtel seriously. I find the internet connection and lag so bad. They throw everything at you, but the reality is that constantly I have issues. If you are using more than 1 device, forget it. Your connection will never be good.

I struggle with latency and eventhough I had a lessor package deal with vumatelAnd afrihost I got faster speeds even while using my TB boxes.Now with comtel Im suppose to get stable 100 upload 100 download. I had no problem with streaming via my TV box before with lessor packages. I just wonder why we cannot provide our own router. I am definitely looking at alternatives after my contract expired. Im not sure if it the fibre provider thats the cause. There is no transparency

I have to contact them almost weekly to report issues. The problem is ‘fixed’ almost immediately but only for a short time. If I run a speed test, the WiFi is often too slow to even load the page for the speed test. I’m supposed to have 10mbps but nothing loads. I can’t even open my emails. When I report it, they say it’s running optimally on their side and that they made some “changes”, but nothing is ever actually fixed or at least not permanently. They often try and blame me by saying my devices are too far from the router! My TV won’t load Netflix and it sits almost on top of the router.I am only using their service due to an exclusivity contract in my building. Would NOT recommend using them at all if you have a choice.

Don’t expect a technician over a weekend even if they promise to send somebody to fix a connection problem. Look for a trustworthy service provider elsewhere as this company doesn’t seem to care about business.

Extremely poor service.I reside in Mitchells plain and the internet connection is extremely extremely poor.This was raised in the first incidence with Comtel support and I spoke to numerous support agents as I am paying for a 10 Meg line with the total of R800 a month, yet constantly getting a connection of 1Mb - 6Mb at its highest.This is totally rubbish as I am over paying for a service that the company cannot even provide me with.I had a troubleshooting session with a support engineer and they talk utter nonsense like placing a Routerboard behind their router is causing a issue. The support team Loves pulling wool over their clients eyes.I even argued with a support agent telephonically because he says that I have a DHCP client active on my routerboard that is the reason why I am having issues.If I had any sort of DHCP client on my end how in the world will I get internet coming from the same router that this company supplied me with? these are extremely basic knowledge in networking and I know this from experience.Even when getting completely rid of the Router board on my end the internet connection still stays extremely poor, yet the company provides me with all these nonsense and comes up with excuses after excuses.I currently work from home due to the Issues around Covid-19 however My own colleagues cannot hear me clearly over a teams call, nor a phone call being made with the internet.I queried this as well and the engineers confirmed that they are not blocking my VOIP traffic either and everything is perfect on their end.I constantly need to be going back and forth and I cannot see reason why a customer should revert back to a company that informed me on email that my internet inspection went PERFECT yet cannot simply deliver half of the internet speed that I am paying for.At this very moment My internet connection keeps on dropping, There is packet loss on the internet connection and getting less than 4mb download speed this very moment.I am not sure what else to do as I have signed a contract with this telecommunications company yet they cannot deliver what they have promised.Instead, the only solution around this is to have a point to point network setup, yet this comes out of my own pocket, YET, before I signed up with them they informed me that my area is fully covered and that there will be no issues because my signal is PERFECT due to the location of my home.Utter nonsense and simply a sales stunt.This company only believes in taking the money of its customers and not providing the proper support nor the appropriate technicians on the desk to actually resolve the issues you are facing.I would not recommend Comtel as they cannot deliver what they say they are going to.

I encountered a problem with my internet for a short moment, i called support for assist a gentleman by the name of Neer Izmail assisted me so quickly, efficiently, i must say in all my years as a internet subsriber i have not received such amazing service, i will definitely be spreading the word, from a very very very happy client, thank you all and god bless

Our company has been a client of Comtel for a few years, however I have only been dealing with them for almost 2 years and have nothing bad to say. My experience dealing with their support team and other departments is nothing short of great. I have never had any issues and would definitely recommend their services.

Im by comtell for a year now and i must say they are really bad, ive complain so many times and send them so many email to explain to them, y im payin for a 4 meg speed but if i do a speed test 98% im running on .50 or 1.50 meg speed, everytime they send me a ticket num to tell me its sorted but whn i check i sit with the same problem, send only once there ppl out was during lockdown nd only for 2 days my speed was running on 3.5 meg speed nd i was happy but thn it goes back to 0.50 speed ..Nd i was only a week behind with payment nd whn i paid the friday nd Saturday nyt the switch my wifi whn i ph the sunday i was told there accounts ppl dont work weeknds, so how do they switch me off nd there ppl not workn weeknds so im whole day without wifi nd they got there money... and im not the only one who has a problem with thm...I regret being with them.. wont reccomend anyone to use there service

My first praise goes out to Fiekie for asking all my questions before I was a client of Comtel.He even answered after hours which I apologize for.Comtels turn around time was unbelievable and booked the installation at 08H30 which i thought they would not stick to as this is very unheard of by any other ISP. They arrived and did a quality job.I was concerned because i will not be allowed on to the Router which is a big concern as I have been dealing with Telkom for +5 years.No ticker was ever closed under 2 days.Logged my first ticket with Comtel and was logged and fixed in 10mins even if it was something simple I did not expect that.Keep in mind its been 12 hrs with Comtel. Ill revisit this review in 3 months

This is one of the worst ISPs I have worked with. They insist on managing port forwarding rules as well as the router from their side and refuse to give IT professionals, hosting services from home, access to manage this ourselves. Somehow these rules disappear on a weekly basis and my connectivity is constantly interrupted. Their service is quick, but I have to contact them weekly to restore port forwarding rules. I have never had port forwarding rules just disappear like this!? WTH! I am forced to use them due to exclusivity contracts with the complex I stay in, Ill be moving soon just to reduce this admin and have control over my own networking setup again. Extremely disappointed!!

Todays date: Thursday August 5th (A normal working day).My internet has been down since yesterday 2pm. I reported the issue at 5 oclock. They said they would get back to me later. They didnt. I called them at 9 oclock, they said it could be my router and that they would get back to me later. They didnt.This morning 9 oclock. I call them, they say that I should try change the ethernet cable. (It took them 16hours to take the first step.) It did not work. I call them again, they say it could be something wrong with the Fibre provider and that I will get a call today. I didnt.I go to their office, because clearly they cant come to me in time. I give them my router to make sure it is not the routers problem, they confirm. It is my fibres problem. But wait, in order for Fibre people to come to house, Commtel has to first come to my house and make sure, then submit a report before to let the Fibre people know.They tell me the earliest they can come is tomorrow Friday at 4oclock. (almost 24 hours after my first call).Now I have to wait till Commtel comes to my house, does an unnecessary check (because they already know the problem). Then report the issue to Fibre who can then only come the day after because 5oclock would be the cut off time. And if Saturday and and sunday is a non working day for them, then :)Very disappointed in the service, it shouldnt take you two days to come confirm the problem that you already know in order to take further action. Especially when i live 5 minutes away from your office.As an internet service provider company, you should always act in the best interest of your customers. And 2-3 days is not a reasonable waiting time.

We were with Comtel Communications for about 5 years, recently when interference started to occur and emails were sent back and forth on the problem, instead of pushing to fix the problem they decided to terminate our contract forcing us to move to a better ISP. Their support is slow to respond and often doesnt help. Their connection cant go 1 week without a problem occurring. Our experience was bad to say the least.

About 4 months ago I signed up for a 24 month contract, but regretting it up to this day, one never gets the line speed you signed up for, everytime you phone in, they reset your connection,but the it only helps for a day or two. with the recent rains in cape town, I was told it is slow due to the rain, but payment is received irrespective of rain or sunshine.

Wireless connection has been off almost the whole day. No.communication from Comtel that they are working on the tower nearby. Had to find out from my neighbour. This is bad service on your part Comtel!
