I had a four year stay at Ailsa Fern Lodge, from 2005-8. It is a warm place - home away from home. You are greeted by a well-maintained garden. The outlay tells you that there is great effort in keeping the place neat. The staff there is hospitable and always ready to make your stay enjoyable. It is a safe neighbourhood and the peace and quiet is deafening. What is more, the mall is within walking distance and public transport is a minute. Ailsa Fern Lodge is definitely a top grade lodge.

Ailsa Fern Lodge is home away from home. A great place for family oriented people. It is unforgettable.All basic amenities were always met, and if you had any special requests, the owner was always flexible.Living at Ailsa lodge for a year made me feel comfortable and safe. Especially as a first year student who was living in Cape Town for the first time.There was never a dull moment! The owner of the house also took it upon herself to show me around Cape Town whenever she had the chance.Finally, even though I had moved out, the owner also attended my graduation in the absence of my parents.My stay in Cape Town was not only made easier, but it was fun, memorable and created lasting relationships.

Ms Pietersen, the Lady of the House, with her kindness, warmth and love made my stay very comfortable. Masterly run with lots of passion and professionalism, Ailsa Fern Lodge is home away from home. I went in for a viewing and immediately decided to take the place. When moving away from home, one would think the next place you move into you’ll be able to do as you wish....Well not with a Christian woman like Mrs P (that’s how I called her) she reeled me. The place is quiet, very clean and not to mention affordable. She tries to take good care of her tenants and makes them feel comfortable.Thank you.

At Alisa fern lodge I stayed for less then a year because my contract at SAB ended otherwise I would have stayed longer. I had a wonderful stay and the landlord is very kind. The accommodation is very neat you get to have a piece of mind and peaceful relaxation. The place is very safe you don’t even have to lock your rooms. Every tenant is taught to respect one another

Great neighbourhood. I enjoyed my stay for a few months, it was confortable and the lady in charge took good care of us and was very helpful with information. And the awesome price was the best part. Definitely a great deal

Moving to Cape Town from Johannesburg was an exciting, yet challenging experience in terms of finding long term accommodation. l then discovered Ailsa Fern Lodge in Ottery which offered me luxurious well furnished accommodation and everything provided for. It was convenient for me because it was close to amenities like public transport, shopping centres and ±15 minutes drive to the CBD where I worked. The lodge has a warm and homey feeling. The place was like home away from home, spotless clean and very safe. Huge thank you to Sherine Pietersen.

It is my pleasure to strongly recommend Ailsa Fern Lodge (Sherine Pietersen) to anybody who is looking for a place to stay in Cape Town.My name is Nkumbi Cokile and I moved to Cape Town in 2014. The move was short notice and as you can imagine nerve racking as I didn’t have any family or friends living here and that is when I found Ailsa Fern Lodge on Gumtree.The owner Sherine was and still is amazing. After several phone conversations I rented one of her larger rooms for the next year. She was accommodating and honestly made me feel at home and went out her way to help me.I remember she picked me up at the airport the day I landed in Cape Town, showed me around and even took me to the Guesthouse I would be working in and made sure I knew how to find my way around using public transport as I have no car.Ailsa Fern Lodge is kept in pristine conditions always clean, neat and tidy. The rooms are serviced daily and the garden is always looked after. Yes, there are rules to be followed however they are put in place to make sure everyone who stays there is accommodated, comfortable and happy in their space.I would recommend anyone who is looking for a place to stay to definitely contact Sherine Pietersen - owner of Ailsa Fern Lodge.If you need more information or specific examples, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The place itself is nice as it appears on OLX. The owner lives in the house with her tenants and wants to involve herself in everything they do. She works in an unprofessional way and talks bad about her very own tenants to other tenants. Many of her tenants, including me, have left and some are planning to leave soon. One of her tenants moved out a week after moving in and she wanted to call his employees and bad mouth him. Speaking from experience, shell even contacts your employer/sponsor and tell them lies just to ruin your life for leaving. I left that house not only because of the landlord herself, but because I was robbed 3 times in 2 months in that area and I wanted to move to a near place closer to campus. My request for relocation lead her to sending emails to my sponsors telling them lies about me to ensure that I lose my sponsorship. She even switched my geyser off and I was bathing with cold water for the rest of the month (April). Even though my sponsors paid for the month, she would shut me out and say Im not entitled to anything in that house. considering the fact that shes a 63year old elderly woman, I would just not talk back. When I once tried to watch TV like everyone else, she chased me out and poured me with a bucket of water. I didnt even know how to react to that,especially since she claims that she is a believer and a Christian. Now that I have finally moved out the only thing I can do is to look back and say to myself the worst decision I made in my life was to stay in that place

Place was very decent, clean and well organized.Owner of the lodge who conducted the interview was however, unprofessional. There was a misunderstanding about whether my fiance was to stay at the lodge for 1 night or two nights. He had originally wanted to stay for two nights and apparently phoned her to change to one night. When we arrived at the lodge and said he will be staying for one night, the woman questioned us as to why he will be staying only one night and did not seem to know that he had changed it to one night. I then went to speak to my fiance outside of her house to ask him whether he phoned her and changed or had forgotten. When we came back inside her house to sort out the misunderstanding, she did not give us, nor herself the opportunity to resolve the problem. When we attempted to sort it out by telling her that my fiance said he booked one night, the owner then shouted at us, accused us of being liars, accused us of conspiring outside of her house to lie to her and then chucked us outside of her house. She shouted at us in an abrupt manner telling us that she does not deal with liars. I was horrified and have never in my life been treated this way.There was a clear misunderstanding about the the duration. Either my fiance did phone to change the duration to one night or he had forgotten. Either she did receive his call and had forgotten that she did or she did not receive the call. Regardless of what had truly happened, instead of dealing with the misunderstanding in a professional manner, this woman was extremely rude. She does not seem to have conflict resolution skills and does not know how to deal with and handle misunderstandings that arise in a humble professional and kind manner.
