The salesman by the parts department are very knowledgeable and they seem to have a lot of parts on hand. They did however charge me a 30% fee for returning products. The parts were already in stock and not a factory order, and I literally didnt even open the boxes, so I dont see how a 30% handling fee is fair. So Im leaving a 2 star and not a 1 star only because the salesman was of such good help to me, and Ill continue to use him whenever I can.

Impressive service & facilities. I took my daughter-in-laws BMW for 10.000 check-up. It was a pleasure. They phoned me to get authority for some minor parts and when it was finished - at the estimated time.I spent the 2 hours walking over to the Century City mall for a breakfast & some shopping.Luckily, I could resist the temptation of peeping at the cars on display, when I walked through the showroom!Very pleasant experience.

HORRiBLE run around!!! Bought a car from smg cape Town, had an issue that was supposedly easy to sort out.I am currently still waiting for the issue to be resolved more than a year later and the run around they have given me is probably the worst I have experienced!!! Call them and get told they will get back to me... Still waiting almost 2weeks later!!!

I went to test drive a Suzuki Jimny standing at SMG. The throttle stuck and the car shuddered, telling me they didnt test drive it beforehand. The salesman said hed have the workshop check it out and let me know.Almost two weeks passed, not a single call from the salesman. I Also sent an email, which wasnt replied to.Ended up buying a different Jimny from the Ford dealer in Malmesbury - the service was 30 times better.

Ive always had mostly good experiences at SMG and have been taking my vehicle there since 2012. After my required service this time, I noticed a strange noise on my car when idling.Taking some time off from work again, I went back to SMG about the noise and was asked to book the vehicle in for the day.That means another day late to work and early from work.Then there is also probably going to be a cost involved again...

First of all my bluetooth transmitter was stolen from my car while being fixed. When I complained about that I was told that its my mistake because they advise you not to leave valuables in the car (I didnt expect that I have to remove every small thing from my car). How I can trust someone who is going to steal anything left in front of him to fix my car?Second thing, I was having some noise coming out of my alternator, first I was charged to get the car diagnosed by someone experienced. Then they said they found the problem and gave me a quote around R4500 to change some belts and pulleys to fix it. I was told in the phone that the noise was fixed. when I went to collect I found out that the noise is still there. Then they said the whole alternator needs to be replaced for 17k and the belts replacement was just a part of a service that would need to be done anyways (I was told in the phone that its the fix not a service). I asked to see the old belt and the pulleys. They claimed that they got rid of them. After lots of fights they finally brought me the parts and they were in a very good state and they acknowledged that.I finally got a refund after lots of unnecessary debates. I just wanted to say that the problem was fixed completely somewhere else for R2500.0 instead of R22,000.0This all happened in November 2018.

While there are water restrictions we understand vehicles cant be washed, was told it would be cleaned inside, it wasnt. The carpets all placed on the back seat for some bizarre reason, these vehicles are not checked anymore before they leave the dealership. We also had to Uber, could not accommodate me with an infant. The service used to be good here, not anymore which is unfortunate. This is not the only instance, expected more. Service needs a serious evaluation, Ive been a customer for over 10 years now this is a low point.

Why I can never buy another BMW in South AfricaLet me preface with the fact that I have owned BMWs in Australia, Dubai, UK and Germany and never suffered this appalling lack of service or even the knowledge of the BMW systems from the service department at SMG Cape TownAs an overview, let me state, they have now had my car for 6 months, have not repaired it, charged my 80,000 rand and three times had me travel into their offices (1 hour each way in traffic) to collect the car, only to be informed after paying that the car is not ready yet and requires further work - they only want the money and do not care about your convenience or experienceI have a 2007 BMW 745, beautiful car that i loved.2 years ago I put my car into SMG cape town for a service, stating very clearly that there were issues with the electrical system making the car battery run to empty every time I did not drive it for 3 days.They told me the issue was the battery and so replaced it - this happened several times and always the fault of the batteryEventually after 7 services by SMG the car would not start, not the battery, there was something wrong with the electrical system, imagine my surprise, the issue was exactly as I had said 24 months and six batteries earlier.I was told it would take 2 weeks and 7,000 rand, paid up front, went to collect the, when I arrive I am informed, thank you for the payment, ca is not ready - not sure why I need to be told in person rather than by telephone saving me 2 hours!Now I am informed it will take 4 weeks to get the required parts from Germany and cost 16,000 Rand, I pay the money (they do not order unless you pay up front)the parts arrive, are fitted but they forgot one part, this time another 4 weeks and 12,000 rand which I pay.6 weeks later and several emails from me trying to get the status f the car I am told car is ready, please come and collectBusy night so takes me 90 minutes to get there only to be informed that the car is not ready at all but thank you for the payment.2 weeks late I am told, they were wrong, it was not the issue they thought, I would need to pay a further 35,000 rand and wait 6 weeks but then the car would be perfect,Not to be fooled again, when I am told to come in to collect my car, I triple check - is the car actually ready to drive away? are yo 100% sure?Yes to all, so I travel inYou guessed it, we are sorry car is not ready to collect but thank your for your payment!I, furious, Obviously demand to speak to the manager who informs me he was surprised I got all this work done as when I came into the shop he told my service manager that the car was not worth repairing as cost would be higher than value of the car!News to meI demand to speak with senior manager responsible for the work shop, takes 3 weeks to get a meetingThe story is told, he is very sorry, will come up with some way to compensate me and apologies4 weeks late I am told, best to just tow the car out as SMG do not have the competence or ability to repair the car an taking up their room.NO compensation, NO sorry for screwing you around and stealing 80,000 rand on false pretenses, just we have the money now and see no way of tricking more out of you, please tow your BMW away from the official BMW repair shop!Is this real service? do South African accept being treated as idiot cash cows? are BMW service centers not expected to know how to repair a BMW?

Had my holiday check done and the service was good. They did try and make me replace my tyres earlier than was necessary. They dont wash the cars anymore but did vacuum it.
