Made a booking 21 May 2021 and they still havent paid back the money I deposited and its almost August in 2021. I feel like they stole the deposit, nothing was wrong with the car that I rented when I gave it back. So I hope theyll return the deposit money.Edit: They returned the money. They dont get a full star because they didnt return the money within the time that they said they would.

I like this car hire. This is the second time I use it. The first time everything was perfect and I was extremely satisfied with the service I got. However this time the car the gave me didnt smell very nice and although I can see it had just been washed, the was water spots on the window. Either than that there was nothing wrong with the car and I really enjoyed driving around with it.To make things worse when I asked for an upgrade I was told that they were out of cars.In terms of the staff I would give them 5 out of 5. They have amazing customer service skills. Both times I was there I was talking to them like they were my friends. It is for this reason I will always use tempest car hire for my trips even though I havent really had much experience with other car hiring services.I therefore highly recommend this place for hiring a car, I am sure you wont be disappointed.

I had a booking on April 24th 2021. After arriving at the desk they informed me they had cancelled my booking because they didnt have any cars available. I was never emailed or informed about this cancellation before arriving at the desk. They then said that they could offer me a car from a higher group at a much higher rate for the days I wanted. Felt like a complete con. Still havent received refund for the first booking.

Car was hire was fine. Watch out for them not identifying scratches and chips. I had a windscreen chip which I called them back for. When I returned the car it was like they were waiting for it. Take photos of the vehicle and odometer. They probably are all on it but in my experienceTempest and Europecar are not to be trusted.

We rented a Tempest car for the 8 days we were in Cape Town. Very efficient handling of collection by the staff but extra special attention from Lucian upon returning the car this morning to the Cape Town airport facility. My husband has lung disease and has great difficulty breathing, particularly when doing anything physical so uses a POC. Lucian checked in our car and helped load our luggage onto trolley but as soon as he saw the difficulty my husband was having walking and realizing we had quite a long walk to departures, he loaded our bags back into the boot and politely insisted on dropping us off at the “Departures” entrance. You have no idea what a relief this act of kindness generated. Lucian is the reason we will definitely be using Tempest in the future

Tempest is one of the most affordable car rental agencies. Their services are quick and staff are always friendly and helpful. They are dynamic and understand that needs and circumstances change, therefore they allow last minute vehicle changes.They always have enough cars available and have ample parking for able bodied and those that are disabled.

Minus 5 if I could put that. They were slow in delivery with a could not care less attitude when being served. Then some 3 months later after returning the vehicle and cleared in good order, they decided to take additional funds for what. No one there will communicate with me at all. Not honest people to deal with. If you are thinking of using them, may be good to think again.

Hassle Free Car Rental, i love them, especially the fact that you dont need to have a credit card to qualify to rent one of their cars, they are friendly,fast and above all it ddnt take time to get back the deposit. Overall im a happy customer.

Service was quite fast and they have affordable rentals. Friendly staff and neat office. I just didnt get the 200kms free a day but youre deposit for the vehicle will only be refunded when the car is returned with a full tank? Although the rental was affordable the car was quite sluggish but worth it for the 5 days. Deposit was returned within 48 hours after returning the car.

The car were hired was clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and polite.The only issue we had was they only accept credit cards, not Visa/MasterCard debit cards.Unfortunate in an age where people are moving away from credit cards, preferring to use their own money and the benefits of Visa/MasterCard at least in Australia anyway.

Slow and indifferent. service. They bill your credit card for a huge amount instead of just putting a hold on the deposit amount required. They did not have the keys ready at the appointed time. Definite thumbs down. Do not rent from these guys if you can help it. When traveling you expect courteous quick service. Hope they refund my credit card as they promised.

Very friendly when collected the car, but when you return it, you get greeted with rudeness and a lady eating a chappy and poping it in you ear.Yes there priced are good, but to end your holiday like that.I also lost a wheel-cap, must have been while driving, the way they reacted to this, I might as well have written of the vehicle.

Still awaiting return of my deposit, after over a week of returning the vehicle. Also, Im pretty sure my CC was cloned by a member of their staff, as within hours of paying my deposit, I had several transactions made in South Africa, which I had not authorised! I didnt use my CC at all in SA, other than paying the deposit. Thankfully my bank refunded it all back to me. Cheap, yes, but clearly for a reason. I shall certainly not be recommending.

I would hesitate to use them again. Very slow and tedious service at Cape Town airport and wanted to bill me a huge amount on my credit card for a deposit over and above the booked amount. I eventually complained so much that I managed to get the amount reduced a bit. Lets hope I get refunded eventually. Also we are now two days into our holiday and we are battling with a low pressure tyre problem.

NEVER USE TEMPEST CAR HIRE - YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT AND WILL BE CHARGED FOR THINGS YOU WILL NEVER KNOW:1) GPS unit - expensive and useless.2) 3000 rand deposit lost -3) early returned car - no compensations for not used days.4) no any papers, documents provide you5) no opportunity to contact them and receive any feedback6) when yop provided them your card - forgot about the money they reserved on your card - you will never receive them back7) More over - after 2 days attemp of fraudulent transaction from their side. Hopefully there was no money on this card anymore.

Biggest disappointment ever. Shockingly slow service. All was pre booked, even being the only customer it took me 30 minutes to get the vehicle whilst 4 staff stood around. When the car arrived the handover was non existant, very damp and smelly inside. After having my luggage in the vehicle for 2 hours even the clothes in my luggage had s bad smell. The elderly guy on duty who received the car when returning it was my only pleasant experience.

Never use this company. Instead of pre-authorizing, they take the money from your credit card. The exchange rate dropped while I had the rental so I did not get the same amount deposited back. Completely unprofessional and below the standard of other rental agencies.

My car was as expected. Charging for kilometers on a booking with unlimited and then making me wait 15 days to get the money (£280) back was not great at all! And dont ever call their call centre... waste of time and money, try 4 visits back to the aiport instead. Hertz are next door, try them!

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!This company WILL expect you to pay for any insurance claims under R1000. It is their policy that they do not claim from insurance if something happens to the car if the amount to fix damage is under R1000. Oh! And BTW, they also don’t have insurance…apparently!Someone backed into my car while it was parked in CT CBD. No major damage, just a licence plate knocked off. I had to phone them to find out what was happening with the incident. Was told that when damage occurs and it is less than R1000 to fix, “we pass this cost onto our customer”. How’s that for customer retention LOL!When I asked for this matter to be escalated, a less than friendly “manager” called me to ask: “who told you that? We don’t have insurance!”. Take that in for a second. This is a car rental company that claims they don’t have insurance. So not only does the right hand not know what the left hand is doing, but they think it’s acceptable to admit that the insurance we take out with them is non-existent or that they insure themselves but that only pays out when the amount is more than R1000. Not sure, really.My advice would be to just book with someone else. There are a wealth of choices that I have never had issues with. Best part of the experience? The car. And they don’t make that LOL.

Superb car but poorest service. I am not even sure if poorest service fits english but this is the only description. At first before car rental the replies were so quick. After returning back the car and when we had problems with deposits the replies are so slow or never reply. They should certainly care more about customers. 72hours were told by them for refunds. Guess what? Nothing. In addition becareful with them they charge you for what was not told such as registration fee any many other services. What is registration fee? Register for car? License? Nonsense. If i knew they charged us for this i would have picked others (so many others!) I hope no one gets cheated by them!

Absolute Fraud and a disgrace of a company. Manufactured a fictitious R550 valet charge. Didnt even have the decency to send me an invoice in the hope that I wouldnt check my debit and discovery their fraud.

When i picked up the vehicle it had two visible scratches on the right door panel upon pickup of the vehicle on Sunday 17 December 2017 at 18:30 however no one did the inspection with me i just found the papers on the passenger car seat. As it was late i did not figure it to be a problem. When i returned the vehicle i immidiately made the collection old guy aware of this advising that it was there from the pickup of the vehicle and that no inspection was done upon pick up to verify this. He advised me to fill out an incident report and i wrote this explicitly in the comments section not knowing that he was registering a claim of some sort. He said everything else is fine. When i called yesterday to chase up my refund the lady in the billing department advised me that everything is ok and i should receive my refund by tomorrow (today kwoting the amount). This afternoon 7 days later i received 2 invoices. 1 my normal invoice and 2 an invoice detailing a R 700 charge for an assessor.. a R 4000 charge for damages and a refuelling charge of R 400 for a 1litre car that still had a kwarter tank lefft. I have been renting from Tempest since 2015 and not once experienced any problems with any of the vehicles ive rented. Im not sure who to contact about this as i have never damaged any vehicle of tempest in the years that i have rented. No inspection was done in my presence and anyone younger than the old man who received my vehicle could have seen that the minor scatches on the side of the door panel less than a hairpin in diamiter was an existing one, not even really penetrating the paint. i will not accept responsiblity for pre-existing damages that i did not incur in any way shape or form or the incompetence of airport staff (elderly guys) who do not do their job properly. I want myfull refund and irrespective what i will take full action to ensure that i receive it. a week now and i have yet to receive my money backIN NO WAY can a client accept responsibility for pre-existing scratches on a car that was not even clean when picked up. IN no way can you rent a car to a client without doing an inspection prior to verify the condition in which the car was rented. In no way can you charge/bill a client for something that may be the cause of a previous rental/failed check plus pin to tail on the existing client that rented and returned the vehicle in the exact condition that he always receives it. been renting with you guys for 3 years consecutively in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. The incompetence of your airport staff will cost you a loyal client and someone who works in procurement. I want my refund as i returned the car in pristine condition, no accident, pavement parking, joyrides and i even washed the stupid car. I had no complaints about the service staff, no complaints about the lack of immobilizer, keyless entry which should come standard with every car rental. I had no complaints about your delay with my refund. But i have a huge problem in taking the blame and paying for the incompetence of your staff, the negligence of the previous renter or possibly the person who caused the damage and thinks he is going to make me pay for it. It will be a cold day in hell

Hired a car in Cape Town received a voice message a week later saying there was a dent in front of the vehicle.I have been trying for days to get through to someone .A call transferred to Paula Bryce the most senior person according to Rashida on switchboard went on voice and a call never returned.The same with the Supervisor Mathew . We had a similar experience at Lanseria on two consecutive days of hire BUT the manager PEGGY was outstanding and ironed out the problem immediately .Are we ever going to move in a positive direction with such pathetic service ??
