One of Cape Towns best kept secrets high on the slopes of Bo-Kaap. Breathtaking views.Great lounge beautifully decorated. You can dine there or in the courtyard or on the rooftop terrace. Excellent menu. Great food. Lovely staff.Only open for lunch or dinner but a must visit. Just remember that you need to make a reservation first and only on a Monday so make a plan cause you wont be disappointed, in fact you will be astounded!

What a magical and completely unique experience the Dorp Hotel provides. The location is brilliant - very close to all the Cape Town landmarks/beaches/restaurants etc but also an oasis of calm once you are at the top of that (steep!) hill. Gail Behrs style is incredible - I could not stop taking photos of all the small touches. We spent two nights (one a weeknight) and still in the time of Covid, so the hotel was quite quiet. However, the service was at full volume. The staff strike a great balance between attentiveness and allowing one ones privacy. If you only stay in one hotel in Cape Town, make it this one! We will definitely be back.

Simply the best hotel in Cape Town. The interiors are tastefully finished with a laid back feel. The grounds and views are exceptional. Staff are tentative and friendly. Thanks DORP.

From the moment you enter Dorp you walk into another world on another planet. Everything is so utterly beautiful - inside in the splendid rooms, outside in the paradisal gardens and all around you with the glorious and spectacular views. But paradoxically you always feel at home and thats because Gail and her colleagues are so warm and so welcoming and treat everyone so beautifully. I loved my room, I loved the food, I love Dorp. Spoil yourself - everyone should go and stay at least once in a lifetime. But I aim to go more than once - I cannot wait for the next time. THANK YOU

Disrespectful manager. Self consumed. Poor maintenance team. Young staff members that have not out grown the hipster phase. Struggling to find themselves in the world. Bad parking location. Poor first impressions from staff. Great view of Cape Town and garden is well looked after. This hotel should not be rated 5 stars.

Appears Dorp has taken the position not let in ‘outsiders’ for lunch or dinner thus creating an elitist and ‘non-inclusive’ environment. Oh the irony in that is so striking. When asking to take a look around, we are shown 4 steps from the reception desk to a corridor when we are told we cannot move any further. To the Dorp. Wish wish you well in your quest for success as we sit in our suite at the Mount Nelson where we are greeted like family. Hospitality begins at the heart of the industry, you either have it or you don’t. In your case it’s the latter.

I was most impressed by the hospitality of Gail the owner as I was offered a cool glass of water with ice and lemon as I passed by her establishment on a hike up the hill. If this is the level of hospitality shown to me as a complete stranger passing by, I can only recommend my visitors sample their hospitality in person and will certanly recommend this quaint establishment and their friendly staff.

Unwelcome from the offset although having read the responses to negative comments by the owner I am perhaps not surprised. I anticipate that in response to my review I will be told that Dorp is not large enough/staffed sufficiently to accommodate drop ins. Whilst that may be so, the manner in which that message was delivered was quite frankly unacceptable and revealed a woeful appreciation of good service. A friend of mine suggested that I visit Dorp for a drink with my wife (having done exactly that himself - the residents only policy clearly having been applied inconsistently on that occasion). I am a frequent visitor to Cape Town and enjoy staying in high end hotels. I dont expect to be met with a no can do attitude when I ask if I can pop in for a drink or even view a room. When I asked if I there was any availability this week the response was simply no - no attempt to establish if I would be interested in staying another time, no apologetic explanation for why Drop has such an insular policy to outside guests. This is short sighted to say the least. I wouldnt agree with previous reviews that the approach is elitist - I suspect it simply boils down to very poor customer service. Unfortunately the bad service appears to lie at the very core of this business as I followed my experience up with a call to the hotel inviting the owner (Gail) to make contact - I am sad, but perhaps not surprised, to say that I have not heard from her....

As I was soaking my broken Zulu toyi-toing feet in bowl of cool water during my morning sauna at the Rose Suite at Dorp Hotel, it suddenly occurred to me that: thank god the revolution was not televised….who would want to see these struggle feet on their tv screen? Anyway, as reparations, I have expropriated the Suite. Unfortunately until I figure out how to make an Almond Milk Cappuccino with my Eggs Benedict, I’m leaving the hospitality to the munificent host Gail Behr & her lucent staff. Now home feels like Dorp. Any complaints can be directed to me in writing…you don’t have to call me “Baas”…just “Sir” will suffice…

Sadly i only ate lunch there but we did view rooms which were beautifully appointed with all the basics plus more .the lunch was perfect, we ordered an array of caesar salads, twice baked souffle, salmon and vegetarian prego rolls all made to perfection beautifully plaited. Coffee and chocolate cake and a carrot cake ro share for us all ended a sublime meal. Very happy to many more returns! Friendly staff.
