Our trip to view and photograph the rock-hew churches of Ethiopia as well as visit the tribes surpassed our highest hopes. Not only did we spend time in a world we could not imagine, we received expert, personal tutoring in photography from Trevor Cole, a world expert. Our time with the tribes will forever be a life-highlight and the skills acquired under the guidance of Trevor will be applied in future photo trips. If you want to visit and photograph the tribes, go with someone who has been doing it and acquiring expertise for 20 years. We will be forever grateful.Spencer and Laurie Kagan

In early march i had an amazing safari in tanzania with matthew of tribal tourist as my agent. he was very patient and thorough with many days of emails and phone calls to understand exactly the kind of trip i wanted. he offered me options at different price and adventure levels and i opted for the seven day camping safari to the great migration in tanzania.i had no previous knowledge of safaris, didnt know anyone whod gone on one, so it was overwhelming when i first started searching. most companies i emailed simply replied with a form letter and a generic trip. tribal tourist listened to exactly what i wanted and talked with me on the phone many times to explain exactly what i could expect from every possible type of trip. matthew booked everything including internal flights and shuttles, and put to rest any anxiety i might have about the confusion of all that transit.the great migration trip was perfectly suited to what i wanted - camping especially as staying in lodges and having luxury is something i wanted to avoid.the tour operator was tanzania experience, and i cant say enough good things about them. our guide, max, was extremely well educated and knowledgable about every animal, landscape, tribe, tree, and plant. he was attentive to every request to stop for photos or breaks and accommodated everyone happily. he had a great sense of humour and we all felt like friends by the end of the trip.ours was a camping safari; there were four other people in the group. we had our land cruiser and a support car with a cook and an assistant who would drive ahead each day to our new location, set up the tents and prepare every meal for us. the tents were comfortable, sturdy, and big - i could stand up in one and im 64. basic foam sleeping mats, comfortable. the meals each day were basic but varied enough and well made so that i always felt full and satisfied after each one. you stay in public camp sites that have running water, showers and western toilets. they all had power outlets to charge your devices.we started in tarangire national park, full of elephants, close up and personal. at night from our tents we listened to the calls of lions and hyenas very close to the camp and it was beautiful.next we drove through the eastern rift, part of the great rift valley, for many hours. the landscape is vast, beautiful and humbling, dotted with masai in the distance tending their cattle. we camped on the side of a mountain beside an active volcano, ol doinyo lengai. during the day a masai guide brought us up the mountain streams to a waterfall, and then down to lake natron, a soda lake where many thousands of flamingoes live.in the serengeti our first encounter with lions was a pride of three moms and a dozen or so cubs, just a few feet from our car. we spent an hour uninterrupted watching them play and nurse, completely to ourselves. cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, so many lions, zebras, up close and personal and we were so often the only car to be seen for miles.driving out of the serengeti we saw the great migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest. its staggering, and such a privilege to see that wilderness still exists in the world at this scale.we camped on the ngorongoro crater rim and in the morning, after yet another mind blowing sunrise through the mountains, drove down into the crater. again i cant say enough about the scale and beauty of such a place, a 50km wide caldera full of morning mist and every safari creature you can imagine. we saw seven rhinos! the ngorongoro crater is a microcosm of a safari universe so epic in scale and wildlife that its hard to believe its real. we drove up and out as the afternoon rains started and the view of the crater from the top was nothing short of spiritual.if youre looking for help in booking your safari, i would absolutely reccommend tribal tourist and i would use them again myself for another trip in the future, the highest vote of confidence.

We had a fantastic holiday organised with Tribal Tourist. I was able to bounce ideas off Michele and the team on what would suit a family trip with our two boys. It looked so good while organising it that we got another family to come with us which made it an even better trip.We settled on the idea to travel to Pilanesburg National Park in South Africa which was recommended by Tribal Tourist as it was family friendly and the kids would see plenty of game - especially Rhino. My wife had suffered dengue fever recently so the suggestion from Tribal Tourist also gave good peace of mind as the area is malaria free.It was a brilliant trip and everything went without a hitch. Seamless transitions from the airport to arriving at our resort. It was also arranged for the families to have time to chill and hit the water park at Suncity as well.Great knowledge and understanding of what we wanted. The kids were happy (and still talk about the trip on a regular basis) to the adults having a relaxing time. It also made me look good as everything was super organised. Very happy and we will be planning our next adventure in Africa with Tribal Tourist without a doubt. Awesome!

Matt, Michelle and their team are superb, I wont use anyone else when planning a trip to Africa. My folks planned a sneaky trip to the Kalahari and my brother and I decided to surprise them last minute. Tribal organised everything at the last minute and for a great price...Next year a long Botswana trip is on the cards and I look forward to working with Matt & Michelle to ensure its a success.
