Unbelievably poor service levels. Prospective learner applicants kept waiting for more than an hour, in the sun, without any explanation as to why there is a delay. Staff then just walk by, going to lunch, again no communication to clients.

Got there at 5.30 to queue. Staff arrived at 7.30 and at 8 (when they open) we were handed out these pieces of paper (on a bright, sunny day). Not only have they been offline for nearly a month, they are also wasting paper unnecessarily everyday.

Poor appreciation of public assistance and crowd maintenance. They should have a check list available for what is required on a big notice board at the entrance and easier online clarity of the same, I called before hand and got this infomation; copy of Identity, passport photo, proof of residence, R250 cash(as at 2012/08/02). ID photos(R85 for 4) and photo copier(50 cents per page) available on site or across the road! Preferably do eye test before to speed up waiting queues, it is done there too! Limited number of entries, apparently 30 licence renewals daily. Watch for queue jumping by persons that sneak behind enclosed waiting area or blatantly walk to the eye exam entrance and wait there bypassing the waiting area, expect no explanation and little assistance in this regard from the eye test examiner that watches and directs the public into the venue for eye test, finger printing and data capture. He does multi task too, so there are either 1 or 2 persons available at any time! A simple number system would be ideal? Get there early and good luck.

I renewed my drivers license in July 2020 and in-between that we went there 3 times to have it redone and to check if it is ready and still to date i havent received my new card. I phoned several times to confirm if it is ready but no one phones you back or their system is offline and they cant check.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service rendered to me, all the staff from the security to the cashier treated me with respect and were extremely helpful. Compared to the less than remarkable service received at other licensing facilities in the greater Durban area it was very refreshing and surprising to receive such good attitude and service .More surprising was the short amount of time taken to receive my new drivers card. I renewed on 30/10/20 and received my notification to collect 24/11/20. Absolutely amazing. Kudos guys and girls. You guys are the BEST!!! I must also compliment the young man outside who does the vehicle guarding. A thankless job to say the least but he is such a pleasant young man and very helpful.

I feel I must have my say regarding Camperdown Licensing Office I found the service when applying for our driving license renewal (05-03-2020) most friendly and efficient my wife and arrived 7-15 and out by 8-30. trying to find out if our licenses were ready for collection not so good but we arrived at 7-10am (02-09-2020 we collected our licenses and I taxed both my car and bike and were out by 9-15 I found the staff most helpful and organised. Will be going back instead of using Pinetown

This place is a massive joke where all pride goes out the window. However all licensing departments are probably the same. Living in the dark ages here in Africa with such archaic slow ways of doing things. All I can say is good luck and hopefully you win.

I truly understand that we are going through a pandamic, venues can only accommodate a few individuals and the system may not been dated to the current situation but how can a system book the 10th of February but space only be available for the 02th of April?Kanti, how many people are allowed to write per day???

Look .... as far as licensing departments go this is by far the better of many.It still runs on Africa time Opens at 7 but starts at 7:30 .There are assistants who are very helpful and will give you direction to make sure you get everything done.Make sure you have all your documents and things will go smoothly (helpful that there is a library who can certify copies right there)As far as the organisation goes, its still outdated and slow processing but the people who work there know what they are doing and things flow pretty well!Just be polite and do it. dont fight :PCongrats Caperdown Depo , keep up the good work :)

Where to start ...Sooooo... my daughter was supposed to write her learners in April. Couldnt due to Coronavirus. We went to apply again at Camperdown only to be told that we have to go through the whole process (eye tests etc) AND we have to pay again. Thieves!!!!!The worst was that people went into the eye test service centre that hadnt been waiting in the queue like the rest of us citizens... how did this happen... good old money I suspect.Disgusted with the under handedness of how this place works. The Hawks should investigate this place for corruption.

The staff are useless. They are rude and think as soon as they put their uniform on they become Ramaphosa. The service is slower than waiting to die. The organisation is non existent. Be prepared to be asked more questions than you came with.

I took my son and Goddaughter to book for their learners licences yesterday, 09/07/2020. We arrived at 06h30 with all relevant documentation and fees. The two went through the whole process and when they arrived at the final station to book and pay, they were told that there was only one date and time. My son explained that he was a matric student and could not get off school next Tuesday at 09h00 and requested an alternative date and time. His papers were thrown back at them and they were told goodbye. No explanation - no alternative date offered. They were just dismissed. Surely, an explanation or alternative date could have been offered? I called the licencing department this morning and was put through to 3 different administrators before reaching the gentleman who had dealt with them yesterday. He said that if we wanted alternative dates we must go to Pinetown or Verulam or we would need to come back and restart the process once trials and exams were finished. I have no problem with this, however, surely this should have been better communicated and a day would not have been wasted. Perhaps some customer care training could also be implemented so that the staff could better communicate with these youngsters who are doing a first time applications?

I have read the previous review, and must have been subjected to the same arrogant individual at the payment office. The other individuals in that office, I witnessed, had a no better disposition. I was told that my specsavers eye test certificate was of no value, and that Id have to join their eye test queue and redo. This is after standing in the queue for close on 3 hours. Friends of mine had been standing in the eye queue for 2 hrs and had moved one spot. I left and drove to Richmond where everyone was friendly, courteous and helpful, my specsavers eye certificate was accepted without a query and I was sorted out in 15 minutes. I have given Camperdown 1 star, which is 6 to many as these arrogant so called civil servants (who do not serve, and have forgotten who pays their salaries), deserve minus 5 stars. On the other hand I will happily award Richmond dltc 5stars.

Quick service. Despite what others may have experienced or reviewed, I was always able to get answers from the various (plain-clothed) staff around the vicinity, pointing me where to go next. Hats off to the team there, theyre doing their job, and doing it fairly well. Drivers license renewed and ready for collection with two visits and a few weeks wait.

Went to renew licence. Probably took me an hour all in all. Lots of very helpful staff assisting with making sure you are in the correct queue and have all the right documents. Be prepared for eye testers not to explain to you what you are supposed to be doing. Just ask them to explain properly before you begin test. Biggest down side was the cashiers dept. No on really tells you what to do but just bite the bullet and go with the flow. That only took 15 mins. Oh and remember you need proof of address. Also current license is valid for 3 months after expiry provided you apply for new one before expiry date.

What an absolute pleasure. Make sure you arrive with everything for license renewal. Copy as well as original ID. Proof of address. 2 photos if you are getting temp as well. Green form. Cash. R250 renewal. R90 temp. I arrived at 6:55. Doors opened at 7. I was in the 2nd group (they try to do it 7 at a time) and I was out of there paid, done, dusted, temp in hand by 8:30. The guys at both the eye test room and the cashier room were amazingly friendly and kept chatting and joking with us to keep the spirits up in what can be such an awful chore. Great job guys. You certainly made my day!

I renewed my drivers license and vehicle license. My drivers license I renewed and paid for on the 19th August and received a phone call on the 30th August to collect it. When I did apply for my renewal the system was down, I paid the gentleman who said that they use the motor vehicle license department computers after 1 oclock every day. They processed my application the same afternoon after 1 oclock. Thank you very much for your help and service.

Dont even waste your time coming here!Service is shockingWhen their systems are down there is no action being taken to sort out the issue.I have passed my bike learners as it is my only means of transport now and I have no learners to prove it.. no temporary license is being offered in the mean time... so I guess Ill just have to ride unlicensed and blame it on the poor work ethic of these people..
