Old-school country Hotel and Bar. Once a great hang out place where families would go on weekends. A short drive from O.R. Tambo Airport in a small town environment.Adjacent to the hotel is a a very interesting Coffee shop worth visiting. Excellent coffee, they offer food, drinks and have several interesting antique items for sale. You might just recognise some items from Grannys home.

Firstly as far as I am aware Bapsfontein Hotel does not actually have overnight accommodation facilities at all. The old building is basically split into two sections - one section being just a bar and live entertainment area (I have not been in this section of the hotel) and the other is a true little country restaurant with a function hall attached. The little restaurant is called Grannys and the food they serve tastes just like its namesake. The food is all good old fashioned home style cooking, very well presented and served in a back in time setting. The restaurant itself sells a few antiques and the tables you sit at are all the old solid wood tables and this adds to the lovely vibe of the place. Tables outside (in like a little courtyard) are available, obviously for those who wish to smoke, wheelchair friendly, not really suitable for very young children as I never noticed anything there that could keep them busy and there are antiques sitting all around the place. I have not been in the restroom so I cannot pass a comment on that facility. The two guys that own the place are really friendly and the service is first class. Have not been in the function hall so not sure how many people it holds or the type of food on the menu for this section of Grannys. Grannys have now started catering for evening meals take away. Order before twelve and collect your supper on 5he way home. Prices are really reasonable starting from around R45 for a proper wholesome meal.

Relaxing quite place

Bought over by Diesel Power. The bar and restaurant has been renovated but Bapsfontein heritage stayed intact and is open for the public. The hotel portion has unfortunately closed down.

The food and service was very good but what really fascinated me was the decor and impression of the restaurant So many things to look at and you feel right at home, walking back in time into grandmothers house A must visit and the prices are so good you would want to go back Ps Try the cappuccinos, best in the province
