Beautiful environment. Very rustic with outside boma which is nice. In desperate need of updating. Chairs and pillows, kitchen, rooms and bedding is tardy and needs replacing without delay.

It was an absolute Joy, the staff are friendly and we were welcomed and taken care of by Christine 24/7. The place is beautiful and we will definitely be going back! Excellent service.

Situated alongside the Crocodile River in the middle of Gods nature. Wonderful scenery that will quite your mind and sooth your soul.We did not stay over night but the rooms looked quite interesting. We went for a spa package and it was one of the best massages yet . Had a nice cheese platter too .Well surely see you again ...

The place is peaceful and quiet. Its very private. One thing that stood out was the kind service received from the staff, the helpers were very friendly and made our stay very pleasant.Not to mention our massage therapists who were so welcoming and friendly. Definitely enjoyed our stay there. The place is recommendable and refreshing!

Great getaway, it was an amazing place had a fantastic time with my partner. Bedroom was so romantic and cozy. Separate rooms makes it special and feels like home. The kitchen, has everything, the bathroom and the outside shower very nice to explore. The deck experience with outside fire was awesome listening to crickets and no need for music. The food, pool the, the river sounds was therapeutic. The host and the staff were the best from arrival till we left the place. Relaxed so well and its definately a place to go back too. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have fun, reconnect with self(family) relax and being within nature.

It was absolutely amazing. A spa in its true essence outside in nature , right next to the river. I was a bit disappointed that our facial had to be rushed because it started raining. But felt so relaxed and pampered. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was nice and clean. Love to go back soon.

The best place... It feels like new home.. Houses are different from your home setup which makes it the best experience. Christine, Simon and Banda, are the best. I am going back just for the experience and share my space with them... My partner was happy and enjoyed the relaxed environment and the people... In a nut shell, the best relaxed place different from your house setup. Go anytime and your will be served.

I am not one to take the time to write reviews but this place deserves my praise! We booked 2 cottages for this past weekend for 2 couples. The Hideaway cottage and the Plantation Bungalow. I was so overwhelmed by the service we received from the friendly owner Christine to the staff working there. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Simon and the boys looked after our fire pits by making sure we always had enough wood, starting our fires, lighting the candles everywhere at night and were on call 24/7 if needed. they even gave us complimentary sherry the second night we were there and Christine squeezed us in for a few massages at the spa. Our accommodation was luxurious and absolutely beautiful. the beds were heavenly and the towels in the bathroom were fluffy and light. Its unfortunate that the nearby traffic could be heard during the day a bit but it was quiet at night and it really didnt bother us at all. Overall we had an incredible time and loved this place so much, we are already planning to take other friends and family back soon. Thank you to Christine and her staff for having us and being such great hosts. WE HAVE FOUND A GEM! :)

So we decided to take a much needed break with my girls and booked at iris retreat. What a pleasant surprise , the pictures online don’t do justice to the place ,the place is in a tranquil secluded area , we booked a 2 bedroom cottage , had our own privacy and everything was lovely, thought I was in Bali for a second ,We got the warmest welcome and one of the best service of our lives. The owners and the staff are absolutely amazing and truly warm people. We had the best time there and I highly highly recommend you take a shot left there👌❤️

A wonderful hideaway between the trees. Our cabin was beautiful and clean. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Couldnt ask for more for a lovely weekend breakaway not too far from Johannesburg.

3-Hour Couples Tranquil Spa Package:The staff were lovely and the venue was nice and peaceful, but the towels and gowns were not fresh - they had been reused from the people before us... not very sanitary! :-( Also, our treatment (all of the treatments specified) were pleasant but were rushed into an hour!! - considering that it was specified as a 3-hour Couples Spa Package we thought that the full body massage would at least have been an hour and then the rest would make up a second hour and leave us with an hour to enjoy at the pool - definitely not worth driving all the way from Randburg to Harties for, and certainly not worth the R1400 spent - not good value for money! Would not recommend this place.

The best everything, from the hospitality, most friendly staff, luxurious beds and bedding. It is truly the best couples getaway anyone could ever ask for! Christine and Simon we will be back soon but until then just continue to amaze everyone that drives through your gate! Your place is truly a blessing!

We only went for the day to the spa. Very disappointing. The place dose not feel clean or tidy at all. The gowns they had for us to use was extremely old, and had some hair on it. They also provide slippers, which of course didnt fit me. The paths to and from the spa island is just ground, meaning your feet and this white slippers are dirty. Just after we lied down for the massage, we noticed that the neighbour had a complete view of us whilst walking around on his property, and of course he was there with another person as well. The massage was average. They also dont have any professional equipment for the massages, they used plastic buckets and a kettle for the hot stone massage. For the price we paid, we really expected more. And dont let the website fool you. Those pictures makes the place look amazing. Trust me, it does not look like that the pictures are very misleading. My wife had a manicure and pedicure done, nail polish was all over her finger tips and smudged. It was very poorly done!

This is a lovely place for a quiet, romantic break. Its well equipped, with the right touch of rustic too. There are massage treatments, or one can just relax by the pool

Beautiful, tranquil and clean place. Its so relaxing sitting on the patio, listening to the ambient sound of the stream. The pool area was very pretty. Its perfect for a weekend getaway! 😊😊🌼My only two suggestions are that there should be more gravel on the road to the place and pathways as well, because it was raining a lot the previous day, so we almost got stuck in the mud; and there should be more lighting on the pathways. 🙂

Iris Retreat is just fantastic. We loved our tiny, warm cottage. The attention to detail is a cut above. The discreet service was much appreciated. It was quiet and sitting by the fire, wrapped in the warm blanket... memorable.

Good Massages, they actual resort is Not very well maintained...The package mentioned welcome drinks on arrival and there were no drinks....Make sure you arrive on time and not early because they will ask you to leave and come back when it’s time for the Spa treatment.They mention use of the pool area and towels, but the pool is empty...Cappachinno machine doesn’t work.

What a beautiful place. Clean facilities. Very comfortable. Great staff. Simon is absolutely fantastic. We were a group of ladies and he came to assist us with everything we needed assistance on. I would recommended Iris Retreat with a happy heart. Awesome holiday

I have not stayed here yet, had it booked for a honeymoon weekend but had to cancel close to the date. My cancellation was handled graciously and fairly, I really appreciate what they did. I will definitely be booking again once the new date is set!

Unique accommodation in a beautiful setting in Hartbeespoort. White linen decor in wooden huts situated amongst the trees. Can accommodate small or fairly large groups. Great for team building or corporate functions. Friendly host. Well worth booking here for an incredible experience.

My husband and I spent our wedding night at Iris and it was absolutely perfect! The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and set within a beautiful forest. Perfect nature surroundings forcing one to just relax and reflect. Caring and accommodative staff. Bed n pillows are so comfy, its difficult to get out of bed. You definitely need more than two days here.

The Iris Retreat proved to be rather disappointing.Upon arrival, we received a friendly reception and a complementary drink.However, things went straight downhill from there.Firstly, a lot more thought should have gone into planning the layout of this place: the three different rooms comprising our accommodation - bedroom, bathroom and kitchen - were all separate units, close to each other but accessible from doors on different sides. We had to constantly walk around and between them under the open sky, which may have been just fine on a warm summer night but less so in the downpour of the rainy season.Furthermore, the Riverside Cottage’s dining area is located right next to and in full view of the care park. Rather than gazing at a “river”, we should have been tipped for watching people’s cars instead.When the rain started, we retreated to the bedroom-unit, and while it was pouring down around us, we sat on our bed, wondering whether to venture out and across to the kitchen unit to make some coffee / dinner. But the next question was where to eat / have that coffee anyway: the eating and sitting area next to the car park was currently being drenched.The bedroom did feature a comfortable bed and a strong aircon, but there was no storage space whatsoever, so our suitcases doubled as cupboards. There were 4 hangers on the wall for the two of us.It was hard to sleep because even the streaming rain could not drown out the relentless drone of music from the neighbourhood (outside the retreat) and the traffic on the main road.And we had to put on a rain coat every time we needed the bathroom.We probably would have minded less if we had come to expect a kind of camping / glamping holiday, but we felt mislead in several ways: there is no “view” of the river, in fact there is no river, but a brown little stream hidden down the steps behind the trees. There was no peace and quiet because of the noise and no privacy due to our three disjointed rooms right next to the car park, where we could greet someone every time on our way from the bathroom or to kitchen.Instead of staying for 4 nights, we left after one to try and find a peaceful alternative in the vicinity.The owner Christine acted more surprised at the rain in the rainy season than at our premature departure. I imagine it happens a lot and explains why we had to make full payment for our stay in advance. Whether we will receive any refund for the remaining 3 nights remains yet to be seen.

We absolutely loved our stay at Iris retreat and felt at home.The cabins are absolute luxury from the linen to the “his and hers” hand towels.The attention to detail was incredible and it made the cabin feel cosy and luxurious.The outside area was stunning especially at night around the fireplace with the blankets provided on the outdoor chairs.I must say the staff were so helpful and accommodating.We also really enjoyed all the meals from starters, mains and desserts.The chef is brilliant. I could not help but notice the beautiful rose gold cutlery, we felt like such special guests.As for our dog, Enzo, he loved the walks and running in the river.Iris retreat is so incredible and we will definitely be back.

Iris Retreat is just that.Deep in the bush.Its a place for a double gateway with friends.WE had a spare cottage,fire compund for late talks,Banda is always willing to assist with making a fire in the evenning.The owner is a wonderful chatterbox Christine.Simon the cater taker is also nxa.Call beofr e booking to ask about the weather,We were disappointed cos of rain you couldnt explore all its offereings,it was muddy and the swimming pool was closed cos of bad weather,Christine we need to visit on a discount for the pool.

Who were of help throughout.We stayed at (Riverside) and Enjoyed the clean and spotless rooms fully air conditioned, the bathroom is also nicely designed if you opt to shower in the open then you are more than welcome to shower with the windows open to experience the beauty of nature while you clean up...From (Riverside) Where we stayed we had access to the River and this awesome deck by the river ideal for couples and went down the river on a small boat 🚣‍♀️ Which was also awesome.The pool area is also to die for slightly away from where we stayed but a 1min walk away through the beautiful woods.This is definitely an awesome place to spend the weekend, just bear in mind that it’s Self Catering, just bring your own food and liquor...
