Our second visit. Excellent getaway. Private and perfect for couples. Hot water baths is great at night with the fire burning. If you want to spend time alone this place is highly recommended.

I am amazed at some of the ridiculous reviews about Avani Lodge. Some people wont be happy even if happiness stares them in the face! Read past the bad reviews. This place is beyond amazing. We are having a blast. Nature nature nature with friendly people topped with peace and quiet. Absolutely love every second! Will return over and over again.

What a gorgeous find, loved everything about the place. Ewald, the host is a warm hearted, genuine man. The rooms are natural & tastefully designed, with stone baths & comfy beds.Make sure you stay two nights at least!

The Avani Lodge is perfect for quietness and relaxation nestled in between the mountains surrounding you with trees.I loved that it comes with a KolKol wood fired hot tub. It’s operated with wood to keep the water warm, it’s like sitting in a open kettle.The host was friendly and welcoming my boyfriend and I with a bottle of wine and olives.There were a lot of flies that makes it a little annoying but the beauty of the views and the sound of the wind whistling through the 🌳 🌲 was therapeutic.

Avani was wonderful. Peaceful and quiet. Huts have unusual design. Tastefully done. Absence of kettle slightly inconvenient. Citronella candle will help against forest insects. Thank you very much for the lovely stay!

My husband and I had a wonderful midweek break of 2 nights (not long enough). We booked in the morning and were there at 4. Corinne welcomed us with a packet of rusks and bottle of olives and then got us settled in our accommodation. We then went off to the shops and on our return, Ewald had the hot tub filled and heating up. There was a fire on the go and he greeted us with a bottle of lovely red wine. Everything was neat and clean. Peaceful and relaxing. We will definitly be back.

No warm welcome, no steaming hot tub, which was the main attraction for us in the first place. In fact, when we arrived at 17:00 the young men in charge had just started filling it. As we had pre-paid via EFT, it is immaterial whether our time of arrival was known, the tub should have steaming by five o’clock. Everything was so unready that we left to eat in Hermanus. Only contact from the owner at that point was a call to tell me to buy my own two point plug if I needed one for my cellphone, but no apologies for the lack of preparedness or any word of welcome. Two hours later upon our return the water was still cold and we gave up after two more hours of attempting to heat the hot tub and choking on the billows of smoke from the fireplace, where we had made a fire. The wine, olives and rusks were there, but no welcoming note to make up for the absence of the hosts. (The young man who met us eventually to direct us to the “lodge” certainly showed no interest in us as guests). The lack of blinds in front of the windows caused us to wake at 05:30. Tried to shower, only for the hot water to fail after a minute, leaving me standing cold and bedraggled with the tap handle, which also fell off, in my hand. Phoned the host, met with voicemail. Left at that point.

Amazing place, amazing hospitality

Only within an hour drive from cape town if you wanting a breakaway from the city life and be surrounded by gods creations in pure peace and tranquility. This hidden gem is the place to be. Has a woodfired splash pool with breathless views. The owner Ewald is very friendly and provides you with over enough wood for you to just chill and take it all in. Had an amazing 3 nights romantic birthday getaway.

It is the perfect getaway! The Magic chalet is private and secluded, and it also has the perfect outdoor hot tub so you could gaze at the stars while soothing your muscles!

Avani Lodge Private Nature Reserve is everything BUT a Nature Reserve, my perception. How misleading. Our 1 night sleepover on my husbands birthday was disastrous. Except for the hot water tub outside and the braai facility, it was a slap in our face. Never but néver again. We didnt want to do a review, it was a birthday gift from the kids. We didnt want them to know that it was só disappointing. Left early the next morning, just after 9AM without having breakfast in filthy crockery. For R900 a night per couple, weve seen better. Then also, depending on which chalet you booked, the facilities differed. Owner/ manager, on arrival, as per previous reviews, did not welcome us with a bottle of wine and cheese, as was the case with certain visitors. We did not have basic crockery? Owner/ manager asked me to accompany him to an adjacent chalet to fetch a pan and pot to do breakfast the following morning? A disgrace, these dishes? Crockery were so filthy, I refused to prepare breakfast in it the following morning. There were no provision made for us. No condiments. Not even your basic sugar, coffee, milk, soap. Fortunately we had this packed in. Weve learned through the years to be proactive. The freezer compartment in the fridge was not defrosted, we couldnt utilize it. We didnt make use of the shower/ bath facilities, were too dumbstruck. We had adequate wood, yes, to enjoy the fire outside. Couldnt really enjoy the hot tub, water was piping hot. Had to add cold water with the hose later the evening. The only plus was the bed and mattress - in mint condition. The only reason we didnt bother to clean the dishes of the previous night, was the reception we received. Appalling!

Beautiful and quiet. Got a cabin thats a little exposed to the wind. Luckily the wind died down and we could enjoy the hot tub in full.
