A restaurant and bar with an amazing atmosphere! The owner and staff are really friendly! We had their wood fired pizza and loads of beer. The restaurant is also dog friendly and our furry friends enjoyed interacting with the very friendly local doggy. This will definitely be a regular stop whenever I pass through Bot Rivier! Highly recommended 👌
So far the best pizza I ever had, and I dont say this too often. Check my previous reviews
Pet friendly and people friendly! Awesome malva! Cool decor
Great food, awesome vibe and very reasonably priced. Loved the outing
Friendly atmosphere and staff at old train station platform at Bot River. Local draft beer selection and food specials. Great destination for a bike ride and refreshments.
Lovely atmosphere, value for money, friendly management and staff
Good pizza, cheap drinks and a really good 2 for 1 special on Thursdays
Great atmosphere, great food in a the station shunting yard in Bottrevier. Well worth visiting.
Best pizza Ive tasted in a long time. Definitely coming back with more people
Very quirky , peaceful , fully licensed restaurent on the tracks , with awesome food and Guinness and Gin on tap as well as craft beer. If you lucky you can enjoy the experience of a train passing while you having a drink or a meal. What an awesome venue , with friendly service. Highly recommended!!!!
Quite different and eccentric. I often drink there. Easy walk from home. Super pizza. They dont mind the dogs. I think its going to get busy. The hotel regulars are moving over slowly.
Wow this will be my breakfast run from now on. Very quirky in a very positive way and the food was delicious. Definitely make a point of calling in when in the area!
Very nice atmosphere. The dance track is very uneven and uncomfortable to dance on. The staff are very friendly.. And the sound system needs to be upgraded.
Very clean, friendly owner and staff. Food is amazing. Value for money. Will definitely go there again.
Friendly, helpful, and gracious people. Take the time to visit the picturesque town of Botrivier. Fantastic place to enjoy with friends and loved ones.
Lovely genuine Afrikaanse experience. Great service, menu, quality food: highly recommended!
Delicious pizza and chicken dishes!
Fantastic place.
The best kept secret in Botrivier. Great location, awesome food and quick and friendly hosts. 5 Stars all the way.
Amazing food and vibe. Something very uniquely
Best pizza place friendly owner and staff hospitality excellent.
Best local restaurant in Botriver! Nice bar inside with a lekke kaggel to keep clients cozy. Excellent service.
Food and the atmosphere was very good!

Interesting place
Loveley gem of a place taking you back in history.
Top dollar
Awsome atmosphere, great service and food. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
The Shuntin Shed is an incredibly friendly establishment with many historical curiosities all over the restaurant/pub to keep a conversation going for hours. As an amateur historian, I love looking at old photos of years gone by. I especially enjoyed the old station benches with tables inlaid with old photographs. The people and staff are welcoming and the food is exceptional. I particularly enjoyed the selection of beers on tap. I did notice however that one waiter was waiting on all the tables, clearing them and being a barman. This, all during peak lunch hour and somehow, he seemed to manage it all. I sincerely hope he is being paid his weight in gold, because such work ethic is something rare to come across in the restaurant business. I think his name was Ruan and I would return because of his impeccable and superhuman service. I believe your staff make your establishment and without them, there is no establishment. The Shuntin Shed is definitely on my list of places to visit when Im in the area.
Very good
Lovely spot, great pizza
One of the nicest hidden gems in the Cape what a place
Great food, great service and great prices! What more could you want?
Great place with friendly staff
Issa vibe
You could catch a view of a passing train
This place was quirky and eclectic in all the right ways! It had a rich character and a warm and friendly atmosphere. The owner came to chat with us as if we had been friends for years. The food was delicious and not to pricey. I loved the quirky decor and mismatch aesthetics. I highly recommend visiting this little gem of quirkiness, if creativity and originality is your thing.
What an awesome place! We cant wait to go again!
Best by far . Pizza & burger is amazing so far
Biker friendly. Very pleasant and homely,. Great local hospitality. The pizzas and ice creams are fantastic, washed down with the liquid of your choice
Such a unique setting! Lovely atmosphere. Historical. Old school. Pizzas were great. Service friendly and prompt. Will definitely go there again.
Good food
Cute place, nice pizza. We were a largish group though and some had to wait quite a long time for food that should have been much quicker (fish and chips). New owner wasnt particularly friendly or concerned either.
The Shuntin Shed is a really great place tovisit for a out of town dining experience. The service is really good and the food is excellent. A true gem and a definite place to visit as part of western cape living and holiday experience
You cannot expect us to have to ask for menus, and to take a drinks order.... Then to take the food order only to be told no bacon for the pizza.... But there is bacon for the Banting burger... No mushrooms, when there is a mushroom farm around the corner.... Or the village shop down the road. Simply put, too little planning and not enough attention to detail. Then half the table got their food and the rest of us waited and waited and waited! One waitron for the whole restaurant.... Come now people, this is a beautiful sunny Sunday. The 2 stars are for the fact that everyone pitched to work and that they did actually execute our order.
4 Drinks took more than 45min. Friendly waiter and the decor is awesome.
The shuntin Shed is a Super place to go and chill! Beautiful views and the rustic decor adds to a relaxing feeling. The food is always good, the drinks cold and the service friendly. An added bonus is that you will probably meet some of the fabulously interesting locals too!
Lovely location. Good vibe. Favorite amongst bikers. Menu a bit limited (mainly pizza), prices are ok though. Great quality food
Friendly staff and good pizzas.
Lovely place. Had nice coffee. Didnt stay for lunch. But good experience
Very nice
Great hidden venue. Biggest burger ive seen and service was fast. Pink gins on tap as well as beers. Downside it needs a better cooling system. Host and ambiance excellent.
Great place, great people.
Very cozy and attracting atmosphere. Staff is friendly and the pizzas are bit different though not weird. Prices are reasonably. Could imagine to be there more often even just for a drink. But unfortunately a bit to far me.
Food is fantastic. Love the train paraphernalia and pictures on the walls. They play fabulous old music too.... Loved it
Tasty food, beautiful food presentation. Amazing pizzas. Friendly locals. Lovely vibe.
A quirky railway themed restaurant and and bar literally in the old shunting shed within the station complex.Run by well travelled, wonderfully inviting and professional owners and staff this is a quality establishment and the standard of food doesnt disappoint and is of a very high standard. With a distinctly charmingly British accent and almost village like feel this restaurant is a must go to if your in the area. Sunday roast with all the trimmings available on Sundays (booking essential though). For those who do, Draught Guinness available here and thats rare!
A lovely nook to enjoy great food with friends and family. Cozy and relaxed atmosphere. With Al playing great classics on the piano there is no way you cannot have a wonderful day.
Best pizzas and burgers in the Overberg. Staff great.
Good place to have a pizza few drinks and comes with stunning views.
Place I love going back to.Food, atmosphere and people are all just wonderful.
After being called out by the owner I suppose I should explain why the 1 star... arrived for breakfast but waited for service while only one table was there. Not a train smash until you realise we had to then wait 30min+ for a coffee (Ricoffy) and then the waitress appeared wanting to take our food order (bear in mind we drove from Hermanus looking forward to a decent breakfast). Would like to go again and see how it could be when busier and after the infamous pizzas. This experience however was one of the worst for me.
An unusual but fascinating pub/restaurant, the old railway station. Food sensational and really good value as is the wine. The owners Dave and Helen work really hard to make your visit a fabulous experience.Mike Dawson. UK.
Excellent little place. The nostalgic train station gives it a perfect and unexpecting atmosphere. Staff are extremely friendly and very pleasant. Service is very good and very efficient. Coffees are delicious as well. We ordered pizza and WOW is all that comes to mind...Paper-thin pizza crusts hand rolled and baked in an authentic wood-fired pizza oven.We had the glacier express and blue train amongst other things and you didnt have to go treasure hunting to find the blue cheese or the bacon. They are very generous with the toppings in the right ratios. The pizzas are also fairly priced. We also ordered the white bait salad which was extremely delicious and fresh. The perfect side to share.Another table ordered fish and chips and a beef burger which all looked mouthwateringly delicious as well. Will definitely have to go back to try it. Beef burger was made in classic style..... Tall, juicy and handsome to look at.To conclude...... BEST PIZZA yet on my list!
Random restaurant bar in an old train shed at an old train station, you get the feeling of a one horse town and believe you could probably only get a warm beer and some looks from the locals but the beer is cold, the service is excellent and the pizza is nepolatana style and done perfectly served on a hot tile so it stays hot, definitely a bucket list kinda place
Family... , everybody is welcome. Friendly service and everything is on call just the way you like it. Thanks Martin and Stephan
Pizzas with toppings right to the edge. Milkshakes are huge. Staff made us feel special.
Bestest Blue Train Pizza, please give it a go.
