I had dinner there on 29 Sept and it was great. Calamari Starter, Jack Daniels Steak, Rice, Green Beans, Zucchini, Chips and Pumpkin with Malva Pudding for dessert for R380 including two drinks. I doubt you will find better quality, price and service in Bloemfontein.

The service was amazing. The food was so tasty. The environment is so chilled. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Well managed, not surprising that they own the Chicago restaurant as well as the Hobbit guesthouse. The food is very good and the staff is well trained, very rare in this part of the country. Book before you show up especially over the weekend because they get quite busy. The menu however is a little confusing as the restaurant doesnt have a compass to work with, New York name is ok but there is nothing we know comes from New York when you talk about famous dishes, famous cuisine in South Africa are the Italian, Portuguese, Greek or Indian among others but here you cant tell which side of the taste will you end up having. The interior is beautiful however it lacks the comfortable sofas which these days are a standard for a restaurant of this category. The lighting is also very thoughtful, soft and gentle across the restaurant but I think the floor is a bit busy as they try to pack as many tables as they can given the social distance situation, its a little overbearing.

Not as good as expected to be. Most irritating was waiters sitting in a row watching patrons from a distance. Food was average. Meal was cold on cold plates.Not the place to dine out in Bloemfontein. Sorry folks. You have a lot to learn from your competition.

Our favourite restaurant in Bloem. In fact it is a restaurant that stands out as one of the better restaurants in South Africa. An extensive menu is well presented by well trained waiters. The food is good value and this is an ideal fine dining restaurant if you are looking for one.

Went past there a few times since October 2017 and could not once find parking, this was a clear indication that they were definitely worth the constant attempt to dine there.I was pleasantly surprised with the easy access this time round and at that stage thought it could be because it was nearing month-end and clients were inbetween pay.Though my experience had no distinct issue, I could personally not see what the hype was about.Went on a Monday evening at a time where I could only count about 5 or so tables. It seemed as though they were expecting a big turnout as I counted at least 10 waiters. (Unfortunately some seemed a bit bored to be at work on a not so busy night)The food was acceptable, but not what I expected. Some menu items seemed somewhat out of place. The plating of the mains, in my case a rump steak came accompanied with rice, 2 veggies and a choice of chips or baked potato. The plate was garnished with a slice of orange on a salad leaf. This along with the rice in my opinion was not necessary.The food that I received came in an acceptable time and was a good temperature. The drinks were ice cold and welcoming on such a hot evening.The waitress did an excellent job and took good care of us. A manager was not seen.In general, I would recommend this restaurant to people who like a hearty Sunday meal accompanied with veg at a slightly higher than usual price.

The restaurant has a very exclusive aura and extremely professional waiters, however they are actually quite expensive for the quality of food that you receive.Honestly, Mike’s Kitchen makes the same food as New York, except they make it better.

Definitely one of the best steak houses we have. Great ambiance. However, the waiters are not the warmest. I have been there more than 5 times and probably had a warm and welcoming waiter once. The others were all cold and very distant almost as though they didnt want to be there.I do go back for the steak, because it really is that good, but their staff could do with some soft skills.

Food was not that great. I have had better. Not worth the price.

They got nice T-bone steak and variety of nice steaks. During weekends and busiest time of the year, make reservations in advance.Their meal is always fresh and delicious.

Good food as always. However, the waitress basically ignored us all evening, didnt bother to check on whether we needed anything or whether the food and drinks were ok - not once. We spent the evening trying to get her attention.Covid protocols seem to be optional at New York too. The same waitress walked around all evening without a mask, and when asked about this she simply told us that she forgets to wear it (you would think that someone in management would have reminded her?). By the time we left she still hadnt remembered and was still walking around the restuarant without her mask. A pity that service that was always good seems to no longer be a priority and neither is the wellbeing of patrons in these times either!
