We had a wonderful stay in this place, from the day we arrived to the day we checked out we were treated like royalty. Staff was so welcoming, friendly and very helpful.The food was scrumptious😋 and prepared with love. Beautiful and clean cottages✔️ with views to die for.Activities were awesome especially horse riding.At the end of our stay Montusi Mountain Lodge owed us nothing❤️

Wonderful family run lodge. Beautifully maintained and super clean. The location is perfect for complete relaxation and escape !! The food is exceptional, high quality and super fresh. Our highlight was definitely the 4x4 trip up Montusi, well worth a trip!! A less spoken about highlight as well is the amazing night sky, if you are an avid star gazer or just enjoy a night sky, you will be blown away!!

Montusi is a beautiful, family run lodge that I cannot recommend enough. Beautiful cabins, nicely spaced out, each with a fire. A central restaurant and bar area. And wonderful owner-lead service from Lindsay and her crew. Thank you and we will be back. :)

We enjoyed our stay, good roads to get there off the highway. Family unit was spacious, with modern amenities, lovely patio and grass in front. We had dinner and breakfast that were delicious. The lodge also arranged a fabulous picnic and birthday cake at an additional charge. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. Great value for money too.

An absolute gem in a stunning part of the Berg. Montusi has so much to offer...there really is something to do for everyone. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. This is definitely the best Berg holiday we have had and we will undoubtedly return to Montusi in the future.

This is the first time I rate something on Google - I figured, i just HAD TO DO IT for Montusi Mountain Lodge! This place is amazing! These guys are world champions in hospitality - you immediately feel at home. The service is perfect, the houses are beautiful and clean. The location is simply 10/10 - as a mountain and hiking-Addict, this is paradise to me ;-) But the best part about Montusi Lodge: THE KITCHEN!!! The Dinner meals are legendary, cooked with so much love and care.Out of all the places that i have travelled this is defenetly one of my favorits!Thanks a million for that experiance!

My wife and I had another wonderful 3 nights at Montusi Mountain Lodge. Food, accommodation and staff were excellent once again. Even the bass in the dam played their part this time. Lovely day hikes too.

The lunch was served with love. The staff members are also kind and always readynto help. I loved the beautiful view of the mountains while filling my stomach. I recommend Montusi for lunch in the Drakensberg. I travelled all the way just for food, next time I am booking.

Incredible self catering units that are very spacious, impeccably finished and exquisite gardens and views. We had an amazing 3 course dinner on Saturday. Excellent value for money.

If youre looking for a place to truely get off grid and maybe spend the days outdoors then this place wont disappoint. They have a good number of activities you can enjoy. The trails through the mountain can be enjoyed on horseback, mountain bike, quad bike or a good old run or walk. I suggest you book 2+ nights for you to truely experience the Drakensberg from here. The booking prices are reasonable though the food menu from the restaurant is limited. Loved my stay here.

We absolutely loved our time at Monutsi Lodge. The staff are warm and engaging and the food was absolutely delicious. It is the perfect weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of Jozi. Thank you Lindsay and team for a lovely weekend.

We had the best weekend at Montusi! The accomodation is beautiful, the staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious. The view from the lodge is breathtaking. Be sure to go on the hiking trails at the lodge, the two waterfalls are not to be missed. I would definitively recommend visiting!

Lovely peaceful place to stay

We had a a fantastic horse riding experience. The guide and his assistant were simply superb, my horse for the day was Zahara and it was majestic and a bit spirited. The rain enhanced my maiden horse riding and made it a magical experience that I would forever cherish.

I only came for horse ride but was amazed at the beautiful location and how well maintained the whole resort was. Best horse ride ever. Guide very considered to my needs and abilities, plus informative re the area. DEFINATELY recommend

Its the best place to visit so far for me in the Drakensberg, loved swimming in their river/dam enjoyed the walk to their Waterfall and cave, the rooms are great, its so clean, the food is good nothing to put on food channel, everything else is great, wish I stayed longer to explore more

A wonderful holiday getaway for the whole family. There are wonderful views. The very beautiful, peaceful and quiet. A perfect getaway from city noises. There are hiking routes around the lodge for the health conscious people. The rooms are moderate and the environment is peaceful. The rooms are kept neat and clean at all times.

Montusi was a breath of fresh air, the suites were stunning and secluded, the food was absolutely out of this world, and the staff were always friendly and interested. There are so many beautiful walks, and lots of birdlife and other wildlife to see. We were very sad to have to leave and can’t wait until we return!

Came here for both afternoon tea and the sunset horse ride. The sunset ride was amazing ... the guides are super helpful! Plus they setup a the best snacks and wine as you watch sunset over the Amphitheater. The afternoon tea is available to visitors as well and the scones are just lovely.

In May 2019, we were privileged enough to host our family and friends at the beautiful Montusi Mountain Lodge for our wedding.Words will never be able to express the natural beauty of the location that made planning our out of town wedding so easy. The staff, meals, drinks, rooms, hikes, to list but only a few items that made our wedding weekend beyond enjoyable for all of us.The team at Montusi are the finest in industry and truly just the best people around. Nothing was too much effort and no detail was overlooked. Our wedding weekend was a celebration from start to end thanks to the team and care at Montusi. The warmth and welcomeness that Montusi carries left us and our guests wishing the weekend would never end.Backed by a team of amazing people, always smiling and offering to assist, Montusi is a DREAM location.

This is an amazing place in a stunning area. We stayed in a large house with a view over the fields with horses and other animals passing by. There’s a kitchen in the house but we went for the superb food from the lodge. Theres a complementary high tea with cake of the day and a bar with a great selection of drinks. Also as far as activities are concerned it is a great location for old and young people (we were there with 2 boys of 9 and 11). One could go horseback riding with horses from the lodge, hiking with or without a guide to the waterfalls or up the mountains and spot birds and other wild animals. Alternatively one can go all out at All Out Adventures nearby: Trapeze, Bounce, Quad driving and so on. Or fly fishing in the little lake on the premises. Playing tennis is also an option, there is a tennis court on the premises as well. And we could borrow rackets and tennis balls from the lodge. The pool is quite large, nice and clean, with a great view over the area. As all the people at the lodge were very friendly and helpful it made us wanting to stay forever.

Montusi is beautiful and serene. I particularly enjoyed the hiking trails. You can challenge yourself by going up Montusi peak, or halfway up to the open cave, or down to the waterfall. The views of the mountain are stunning, and we enjoyed the food as well. Perfect place to take a breather.

Stayed in one of the self-catering cottages, the place is neat, clean and fully equiped which a great plus. The view is spectacular and the area super quiet. Love it here.

Nice place to be

Enjoy a very relaxing and spoilt stay at the lodge. Hosts and staff are friendly. The breakfast and suppers were of high quality. There is also many activities in the area. We did a hike and mountain bike trail. Both were surrounded by wonderful views of the mountain. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in the mountains. I will definitely come back again if the opportunity presents itself.

Really excellent food and service.Owners and managers really give a sense of caring and cater to the individual.I do recommend the hotel based on the food.Every night you come to dinner to find a new exciting menu and some new fancy home made bread. We were there for a week and there was no repetition; it was a very cool and exciting time going for dinner and breakfast each day.

Great get away. Good service in the room but slow service in the dining room. Food presentation was excellent, but quality was not always up to standard. Management was attentive and I would suggest this as a destination; we will return.

Top notch resort, really great accommodation. Beautiful views, nice walks at the resort and close to the Royal Natal National Park for more walks. The food served is of the highest quality and clearly prepared by a chef who takes pride in every plate he serves. Will surely be returning to this family ( 3 sisters) run boutique hotel.

Awesome place. The (big) houses are very large with a hearth for the evening and with good view towards the mountains. Everything is clean, staff is friendly. Dinner is very good. Its only a short drive to the Royal Natal national park. The only (very small) critique Id have is that wireless is only available in the main building. You shouldnt need it here for anything than giving this place a five star rating on Google ;)

Very nice accommodation with amazing view and great service. They will clean your house and grill every day for you. You can also book a horse ride, which I strongly recommend (great horses and guides). There is a very nice pool and area for children as well.

Comfortable self-catering chalets in the heart of the Northern Drakensberg. Rooms are great. Plenty of amenities and space within the grounds, plus short hikes, pool and restaurant. More activities are a short drive away. Note: Bring food with, not much groceries can be bought in the area.

Came here twice for the horse rides but staying here looks like it will be quite a treat. The horses are excellent for beginners and the guides are very patient. Great views. Lovely layout. Would highly recommend staying here. Pricey though.

Nice quiet place, I saw some rare birds for the first time in my life. Only 2 negative points were wifi only 60 free per day and the tar road which is beautiful but lots of potholes

Amazing location, with beautiful views straight from all the separated lodges. Great service from the people here (a family-run location,making it feel warm and friendly) and an incredible cook (by far the best steak I ate in a looong time).The crowning experiences were the massages and the horse riding: both (very) cheap, and the massage was one of the best weve ever had, anywhere in the world.Overall: if you ever have the chance to visit Montusi, do not hesitate and go!

Beautiful. Hard to describe how truly lovely this place is within its setting. You can walk up mountains or walk beside rivers from the Tugulla Falls . You can swim in pools created by the river falls. We went horse riding . The Tugulla Falls can dry up when there has not been much rain, but this does not spoil Montusi Lodge.

Montusi lodge is a wonderful place to stay for a view days. Beautiful view and a nice place to walk or hike or ride a horse. Unfortunately the staff (except for the manager and owners) are not very friendly or helpfull. A couple of times the bill wasnt correct(charge you a double if you order just one) , most of the time there is no one at the bar and you have to search for someone who can give you a drink. If you want to order a lunch you have to repeat it 3 times. The staff talks about you with each other standing in the corner.In my opinion you can expect a lot more, because of the price you pay.I also have to give a compliment, that is that the food is wonderful and so tasteful.
