Love this place, great for families, couples and even the loner. You can walk the dog, have a picnic or even go to the zoo. Theres also a restaurant on site

Beautiful outdoor adventure for the kids. Lots of space to sit and picnic. Lovely play area for the kids. Just watch out for the monkeys, they like to steal food. They also have a zoo with a variety of animals and its very cheap to enter.

Kids love this place...pity the Blue Zoo closed down though

Booked the bandstand for my sons birthday party and it did not disappoint. Great space with power and covered area for about 30 guests.The area is cheap and very popular, it is clean and the park is amazing.A definite consideration for kids parties or any other function.

Took my daughter on her 1st picnic she loved it . Everyone was social distancing and everyone wore their mask until they sat down to have their food . Everyone respected each other. I will go back

Really beautiful, various areas to sit with family, and a great, well-contained playground. There are a few dodgy street characters around though, but they didnt give us any trouble.

Just on Saturday, after a frustrating morningat Musgrave center and walking back in ongoinghot conditions, I just wanted to relax at thispark but it has just further gone down to worseproportions than last reviewed with a state ofovergrown grass across the entire park, that was rather unpleasant sitting down, the parkarea conditions continue to degrade, the pathsare more messy and overgrown with weeds andcaving in in places, a lamppost down for monthsRemains unattended, the fish pools are reallyfilthy, parts of the park have been ribboned offfences around the children’s park are worseningbut the display gardens by the main entrancehave been restored to their former beautybut overall, Mitchell park has never looked sobad as seen that Saturday afternoon!Why is this happening and are the teams lookingafter this popular park seriously working toget this park back to it’s 100 percent conditions?If they don’t improve this park urgently then I,mNever returning again!

Pleasant park to visit. Not too crowded.Good venue for kids birthday party.But as all places keep a good eye on your kids.The guys that sell plastic balls eventually start looking for unattended balls towards the afternoon for expropriation and probably clean and resell them.

Very good p place to bring friends, family , kids etc. Very nice, clean , cozy romantic place. Lots of green spaces , calm, quiet, wonderful to have pick Nick etc.There is lots of space for exhibition , book fair, cultural events, etc.Very good natural place to be. U feel very connected with nature , environment , connected to the earth and land. I cant describe it rather come here and feel and enjoy all positive vibes around it.

A lovely park with a brilliant playground for the kids and space for loads of people to picnic, play games, spread out and relax. Plenty of shaded areas. We did not visit the restrooms so cant comment on those.

Amazing areas for kids to play however if it could be bigger it would be better. Toilets need to be cleaned at least 2 times daily. They should put toilets where we pay but it must be cleaner. But amazing park for a family get together, party or a romantic picnic.

Mitchell Park was a place I loved visiting as a kid and so want my son to feel the same when he visits. As we entered the park, there were guys selling craft which is good that they trying to make a living but they pester you to purchase these items. There was also a pile of empty energy drink cans thrown down which made the entrance look very unsightly. The park itself reeked of urine. The play area was infested with litter and my baby to my horror almost picked up a syringe! Very disappointing! However the service at the Blue Zoo was excellent. The food was quick and delicious and they had a back up load shedding menu. We had citronella candles to ward of the flies and the staff even watched out for monkey trouble. Keep up the good work guys!

This tea garden used to be my favorite haunt for tea and freshly baked scones or toasted curry sandwiches.Unfortunately... the waitrons dont seem to see patrons of their own color.I was invisible.I had to wave to the staff to see me....while Three waitrons buzzed around a white couple who walked into the restaurant after I did.The owners responded to my issue that I had posted to their Facebook page. They wanted my number so that they could apologize to me. How genuine they were is questionable. I asked to meet with them to discuss the matter but they didnt respond.

Magical moments at Mitchell Park always as we grew up from kindergarten visitors enjoying the foliage, playground parties, birthdays in the white gazebo, an exciting, educational visit to the Zoo.We learnt and appreciate this natural wonder of Durban.Nestled in the corner of prime property and on the same road as fine dining eateries, art galleries, boutique hotels, speak easys and smoking cafes, the park is the cherry on top of that deliciously frosted carrot cake, incidentally there is also an eatery in the park as well, called the Blue Zoo, relaxed outdoor dining settings, which is very popular during the summer months.There is a small fee to visit the zoo, helps to maintain its livelihood for decades now.Very interesting bird, animal, aquatic and plant life to marvel at and to understand the basic elements with regards to flora and fauna.On busy weekends the upkeep of the ablution facilities falls off the wheels.Parking is a bit of a bother.Wheelchair accessible.A tradition amongst us locals to visit the park at least four times a year and our children will carry the Mitchell Park Torch from generation to generation.

Safe place for having occasions & picnics. The zoo section has a no. of animals & birds to see. Enclosures for hire. There are swings and the like for kids to play on.

Fantastic place to bring your dog has a wide open area for your best friend to run around very clean as well.

Nice and clean, good for a picnic. Nice playground for the kids. However there are some beggars which you have to fend off at times.

The park is great and beautiful, but being constantly hassled by beggars every 5 minutes spoils the day completely. Be warned as well: from around 15:30 in the afternoons, monkeys show up and go to town on any unattended packets.

The zoo was better maintained a few decades back, but it is still a great place to take kids and the playground is great. Parking can be difficult on weekends.
