Absolutely delicious, fresh Indian Cuisine served without the wait. Nice location. The waiter who served us, Ravi, was very kind and efficient. There are no flaws at this restaurant. I just wish their interior design was more Eastern to give us the authentic Indian feel that we would have loved to have. But, you havent lived if you didnt try Indian cuisine from Palkis as yet. I will definitely visit often.

Have to be honest, very dissapointed, ordered. Lamb vidaloo, that was not lamb. Lamb is not a stringy meat, as for the flavor tasted like a tomato bredie. Will never go back there, far better restaurants serving Indian cuisine.

Palki has certainly not lost its appeal after all these years. We walked in to see an old Indian Tamil movie featuring Kollywoods star, Rajnikanth playing out on a TV screen. The sambar vadde with coconut chutney was an outstanding South Indian snack. A generous sized portion to share as a starter. Another generous sized main of butter paneer and garlic naan followed. For dessert we had the kulfi, which was made in house and had a wonderful balance of cardamom and ice cream. We finished our meal with masala chai. Excellent value for money. Captured the flavors superbly.

As the saying goes... Sometimes less is more...... All I can say is. Palki is my most favourite Indian restaurant of all time. Go see Ravi there and let him blow your taste buds... Wow.!

Best South Indian cousin in entire south africa I think. Also great North Indian food. Thoroughly enjoy every time I eat here.

Actually the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Even the rice(!) was delicious (slow-cooked with lots of spices).The owner was very friendly and good at recommending dishes with your preferences in consideration.Highly recommended!

Met a dubaai friend and was feeling for a good cup of masala tea. At R32 a cup one would expect AAA rated service.The 2 cups of tea was fantastic, no doubt.On paying the waiter declined to come to the table to collect the bill and payment. In approaching him I was told this establishment isnt a coffee shop its a restaurant and he expected a R40 tip on a R64 bill.Sad to say 1st impressions last. This will be the 1st and last time at that establishment

Had the paneer butter masala and rogni Naan. Not sure why this place has such a high rating. Ive eating a numerous Indian restaurants around South Africa (and India and other countries) and the food was less than average compared to those. Maybe their other dishes are better. The Naan was terrible, it was steeped with a terrible tasting butter. This is compounded by the fact the food prices are quite steep. Additionally, the single waiter/manager /owner seems very rude. Maybe its a straight forward personality thing/language barrier, but hes not cut up for the service industry in my opinion.

Excellent food. However poor service from the single, lonely waiter/manager/front of house person. Totally ignored for 10 times after we seated ourselves, menu not updated, very blàse attitude. Prices also very steep.

The place was going through a revamp so they tried to squeeze to many tables into a tiny area. The food was delicious as always but they had run out of certain items which was a bit disappointing.

Lovely lunch our food was delicious. Staff and host were wonderful. It was a very nostalgic venue for me, as my aunt and her family owned and lived in this house from early in the 1940’s. Thank you for allowing me to go through the restaurant, as if it was yesterday and remember, by gone times.

Its always a pleasure to eat at Palki. The staff always make you feel special and the food is fantastic. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and the menu has a wide variety to choose from. You guys are the best. Ample parking space also available.

The food was very nice but it’s quite expensive for what you get compared to the authentic restaurants in Johannesburg.

Been eating here for 20 years and it has consistently been absolutely delicious. Your first mouthful will make you feel like youve been transported to a restaurant in the middle of India. An authentic, quality driven shop that beats pretty much anything Durban has to offer when it comes to Indian cuisine -and that is saying a lot.

Authentic north and south Indian cuisine. Excellent venue however parking is on street. Food is delicious and generous quantities. Wide range of dishes.

Been going there for ages the foods still good nothing has changed. The place needs an upgrade the host is always willing to help with preparing a dish of your choice. Good value for money if you have a large party to dine with. All ways good to get a taste of India.

Enjoyed the fish and lamb curries. But.. Very expensive to dine there

South Indian cuisine, absolutely delicious!! So popular that every table was full, but still staff was so helpful and extremely accommodating! The Chilli mushroom is a winner for anyone that enjoys spicy food. Will definitely be back! :)

Lovely place Good & Reasonably priced

Fantastic value for money - I ordered a masala dosa and it was everything that I wanted. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and the service was fast. I had to resist the temptation to order more than one dish like I usually do - the portion proved to be enough.I am looking forward to returning to try the Rogan Josh.

Went down nicely with a Bombay crush on a hot dayVenue clean, great design on the walls, staff pleasant and helpful. Roadside parking decent, entrance well lit and easily recognisable. Ill be back!

We were pleased with the service & dishes. Except for the paneer dosa that my son had ordered. The filling was very sparingly placed in the centre. He was disappointed, as he benchmarked the standards of Indian cuisine he had experienced whilst touring Indian, both North & south. Hope to have better service on our next visit. Thank you.

There simply cannot be a better Indian restuarant in South Africa. I have eaten in Indian restaurants in so many places and tried so many dishes... Nothing comes close to the taste, variety of food and flavours at Palki. And the amazing gentleman that attends to us, Nagesh... Is so welcoming and helpful. His service is the cherry on top of an already amazing experience.

This is a really good traditional Indian restaurant. The food is excellent, and service is good too. I havent had as good a traditional meal as this for a long time. You wont be disappointed.

Food is great but for the price paid the portions could be bigger. The restaurant has a big menu for mains and deserts. Views and staff helpfulness is a positive as well.

We were told multiple people that when in Durban, this was the place to eat. Sadly it did not live up to expectations.Terrible service, we booked a table and when we arrived there was no one at the door, we waited for a full 5 min before any staff even acknowledged us. When we were finally seated we waited ages to be waited on.The food hardly made up for any of this. It wasnt hot at all, barely spiced, and the cut of meat was uninspiring.Plus the toilets were not very clean.

Professional, service with a very personal, honest touch. You guys have a lot to be proud of and I am looking forward to my next visit - which will be soon!

Very disappointing! We have been coming here on and off for a number of years as their meals have been good. However, we have found that the place is looking very very tired. It is in dire need of a refurbish. The toilets are not clean and this tends to put you off your food. Their prices are also pretty steep. Wont be back in a hurry

Best indian food in South Africa!

Excellent food. Excellent service. Booked for a birthday party for 50 people and was given the best service by the manager Ravi, directly. Recomended to family and they went there the next.Day with no name dropping and a small group of 8 and was still given top service and food.

Delicious food, courteous service, AND I left my cell phone and cardigan behind. We went back about 45 minutes later and there was Ravi to meet us downstairs with my things 🤗😄😊

Love this place. It is a bit hidden and has scruffy decor. Ignore this. It is filled with locals because the food is just great! Plenty of classic Indian vegetarian food as well as meat dishes. Fine dosas. Go. Eat. Burn!

Excellent Indian food, great service, competitively priced, no beef or pork but alcohol is served. Central location although there is only road parking available. Appearance is okay, do not expect anything fancy.
