The Charlatan is one of my favourite places to get a drink in Durban, and definitely my favourite place on Florida Road! The cocktails are out of this world, the decor is old-school-industrial-cool, and the vibe is perfect for drinks with friends or a date night. Highly recommend.

Fantastic cocktails! We had the Tail of the African Queen and the Palmo Alto - some exceptionally skilled and talented bartenders. All kinds of promotions going on. Young, hip and vibey. One of the coolest places on Florida Road.

A fantastic cocktail bar located on Durbans popular Florida Road nightlife, The Charlatan is a tastefully considered establishing bringing some forward thinking interior design and delicious bespoke cocktails. All of this makes for a great night out. The atmosphere is pleasant, and at any given point you might be listening to funk, jazz or lofi hip hop, which all contribute to making The Charlatan an exciting new spot, and probably one of the hottest new joints in recent memory. I didnt get to sample the food menu, but Im convinced that itll be just as good as everything else I tried. If you do make it to this fine establishment, try their signature cocktail, the Charlatan, or for something really Durban, the Tale of the African Queen. Or if youre keen for something sweet, ask the barman, Loy, for an Amaretto Sours. An outstanding, fresh Durban nightlife cocktail experience. Definitely worth a stop if youre ever in Durban.

The Charlatan has an incredible atmosphere. I love their live music nights. Great outdoor area. Wonderful place for a date night or drinks with friends.Service is good, the cocktails are aesthetically pleasing (with a generous amount of alcohol)

So disappointed by the new cocktail and food menu here. This place used to be in a class of its own and now serves “chicken nuggs”. We used to love the innovative and delicious Durban themed cocktails and now all it has are dull classics or unappealing alternatives. Never mind the hideous menu that looks like it was designed by a child and written by an illiterate. Sadly it seems that our favourite cocktail bar no longer exists.

Finally a place in Durban worth going to! Dope cocktails and food, need more beers on tap tho.

Staff were friendly. I think they just need to make more space for people to sit. But otherwise really nice, chilled environment.

Absolutely amazing little piece of heaven. Walked on by one night while out for a date night took a chance to check the menu and were overwhelmed by the aestetics of the place. Loved the whole setting and ambience they had going on and the food was absolutely tantalizingly tasty. Their drinks were positively delicious and I found their pricing to be quite affordable. Will most definately be returning soon. If your looking for an escape from the norm and a little bit of a change this is the place to go Intimate yet very trendy.

What an incredible new spot! Amazing selection of cocktails and a fantastic vibe. A friend of mine knows the owner and recommended I popped in for a drink or two after dinner (with my date for the evening). Certainly was not disappointed.It can be difficult to find amongst the establishments on Florida avenue but persevere, its worth the struggle! Cant wait for events to be held here!

Good music, friendly staff and great drinks. They have a beautiful outdoor-indoor seating/dancing area (you can actually spot a few stars and the moon). Theres a swinging bench also.

Best looking bar on Florida road.Great bartenders and usually has good music, from old school hip hop, low-fi beats, to Tom Misch vibes and those different but awesome local artists (...live events).If youre looking for a little bit of Brooklyn, and little bit of Maboneng, a sprinkle bit of Woodstock, yet completely Durban - Charlatan is your spot.

Probably the worst experience at any bar in Durban. First time I have ever experienced such bad service anywhere in SA. In my opinion any other bar on Florida road is a better option....or even a shebeen would be better.

My favorite spot for a jol. That says a lot considering my aversion for jols! Periodically host Nipho Hurd and other talented local artists. Hipsters paradise.

When last night and omg amazing amazing vibe! Had the cocktail special and it was so good. I loved all the performers and djs that were there especially Nipho and Rhea Blek! The staff was so hands on and attentive, which was quite different from other bars Id been to. The swing and wall garden was so fun and beautiful. All in all a great place to spend the night
