The monument is kept neat and accessible for free to the public. Its an interesting part of South African history and a remembrance of past war battles that would otherwise be forgotten in the history books that few and far between ever read.
A very significant historic monument and with a striking design. Well worth a visit. It deserves to be better marketed and to receive proper attention. The place was in a great condition with my visit today. Lovely rural surroundings. It is also interesting to read the history and more should perhaps be provided on site. This spot marked the last conventional battle of the war and after the british broke through at this point the guarilla warfare stage started which also let to the concentration camp policy. It aldo is the point of the biggest artilay bombardment in history at that point in time. A must visit.
Road closed now. Is there a new road?
Well kept, except for the brass plates. Hardly readable
Very interesting bit of history. Stopping by to pick up a geocache!
Its a beautiful monument with lots of information. It is also in a very lovely area.
A whole lot of history from 27 Aug 1900. Very interesting design and building of the monument. Worth a quick stop and see for yourself.
I hope this remains preserved
Worth visit when on the way to Mbombela just to know history
This monument is actually well kept. The battle is explained on a nice big board. Would have liked to have more information about the architecture style. No bathroom facilities but engen close by. Worthwhile to visit if your into history of the war.
Very glad to see that it is looked after. Very imported part of our history.
So nice to visit monuments that talk about real history and not politics. What an awesome place.
Good place to visit, if youre interested in historical information
Always just drive by. Decuded to catch up on some history.
I have been there a couple of times, stopping on my way to Nkomati Mine, very nice spot to stop after a couple of hours of driving, I would like to get hold of the owner of the farm/land next to it though. The gate says, BEWARE OF THE DOGS, IF THE DOGS COME, CALL FOR HELP, IF NO HELP COMES, GOOD LUCK. The gate is next to the Bothas graves.
Incredible Anglo BOER WAR history
I loved the view 😍 Reminded me of Kaapsehoop- not the monument, but the farm and the area that surrounds it😙
Its well built and and beautiful to look at.
Beautiful monument, definitely worth the stop. Just be cautious as there is a huge bee hive in the middle of the monument.
Take some time just off the N4 and take in some of the local history. Fascinating!
More info would have been nice.
It filled me with sorrow to see how dirty the area around the memorial was. I found the history to be very interesting and informative.
Very informative and provides insight in the Boer War artillery efforts
Great site . With some backing from the goverment this site could become a must see for visitors on the N4 . The stand of the Johannesburg Police against the overwheling odds of the British Regiments is akin to Rourkes Drift.
Was good to see and read up on the history.
Great place to stop before Nelspruit.
Good to visit with lots of history
Boer war memorial. Well kept and maintained.
Intresting place to visit.
Very interesting monument.
Nice, small & calm place
Interesting spot.
Very pease full
Not very well maintained
Expensive
Impressive memorial
Good to see history
For years, Ive passed this monument. Would like to visit and have. Grass was neatly cut and the toilet cleaned. The information board was difficult to read. Short cleaning. The rest of the boards, especially the slain, are very clear. Although the Boers lost the battle, the visit was worth me.
Very good information!
