Sorry to have to say this but, after pointing out (after spending possibly the coldest night of the year at Sandys Place) to the very pleasant person on duty (Mandy, if I recall correctly) that the gas hot water system was dodgy (and yes, I followed the instructions to fire it up), and being assured that my comments would be passed on to Sterna (the owner) I have not had a response. Yes, there is a number to phone if the system plays up, but getting out of the shower all soaped up when the hot water suddenly goes cold is not fun. With a gas fired (instant) hot water system, the heater unit should not be more than a meter or two from the hot water tap. The lag time (turn tap on, to getting hot water) was also an unacceptable (and water wasteful) 30 seconds or so. So, a stay in a clean and comfortable place was marred by this unpleasant experience, resulting in two instead of four stars.

Owners of Sandys Place are extremely friendly and helpful to visitors and strangers alike. Their self help apartments are highly competitive and comfortable. Roland Butler

We stayed in the family unit which is very comfy and spacious. Two separate bedrooms with two extra beds in the lounge. Covered braai area and comfortable verandah. Small but very clean pool. Warm and friendly welcome. Highly recommend.

I stay here every three months on work related trips. The rooms (fully self-catering) are lovely and very homely and comfortable. It really feels like home away from home. Hopefully one day well have time to enjoy the braai and wood neatly packed on the stoep.Sterna and Johan are excellent hosts and recently assisted without hesitation when my colleagues and I urgently needed assistance unrelated to the B&B. We are so grateful.Real value for money and always a lovely stay!

I have just spent two days at Sandys, I have never been so biten by fleas all over my body. First night was mosquitoes and last night the fleas got hold of me. I would suggest the owners fumigate the bed in the lounge closest to the window, street facing. Definitely not making another visit to Sandys.

Despite the signs saying luxury accommodation, Sandys is what you would expect from your average self catering offer. The accommodation has all you need to be comfortable and boasts a swimming pool too.

Neat, tidy, clean, comfortable, accommodating, value for money self catering units. Bedding, towels, cutlery, crockery, braai, tables, chairs, milk, tea, coffee, fridge, stove, kettle, microwave, fan, mosquito repellent all provided. Dresser and cupboard with mirrors. Pillows and mattress are good. Friendly, good-hearted hosts. Free Wi-Fi, although all small rural towns have slow internet speeds.

Enjoyed a good stay at Sandy’s place. Given the availability, the two of us were given the opportunity to stay in their large apartment which was very clean and had everything you may need.
