As a tour leader I have been there often with my guests from Denmark. This time one of my guests accidentally knocked over one of the many, many figures in a very jammed shop! The owner went ballistic, not only demanded the guest pay, but was also very rude, and even called the police! The police were very nice and diplomatic, but my guest, a nice elderly gentleman, chose to pay half the price, out of embarrasment!Even if I come here 3 times a year with a full bus, I will never again let any of my guests into this shop! Watch out!!!

Best African souvenir shop in SA, well worth the visit to Barrydale. Hardy is passionate and knowledgeable about African art, and his shop is filled with unique museum pieces from all over Africa. A must stop for anyone with an interest in African traditional art. You can even buy the artworks, and at astonishingly low prices!

Beautiful and very detailed wood carved statues, much different than youll see in other places along the road and many other arts and craftwork. They provide shipping services for larger pieces as well. Very friendly owner takes time to show and explain everything about these beautiful creations. Definitly would recommend to have a look here

Situated on the busy Panorama Route R62 in Barrydale, this is more then your average souvenir shop. It stocks the whole spectrum of African crafts, from trinkets for a few rands to exquisite, high-quality African art pieces that will appeal to the bespoke collector and most discerning buyer. Make sure you get hold of Hardy himself. He will let you into his inner sanctum where you gaze upon a selection of African thrones that will make any museum envious. If you twist his arm, he will part with the high ticket items. Even if you buy nothing, Hardy is an authority when it comes to African arts and crafts. Some of his items are not cheap, but you wont find a better price anywhere else.

We visited Hardys shop in Barrydale on February 18th and were impressed by the many exceptional souvenirs. You could spend hours in this shop to admire the great arts and crafts and everything else. A year later, we contacted Mail again via e-mail and sent us a memo in advance and air freight. Everything worked out great and Hardy was always available for questions. Thanks a lot for this.
