Lovely meal at the Bistro, GM. Great burgers, delicious deconstructed carrot cake, which was beautifully presented. Chicken supreme was nothing to rave about. Lovely staff from the security at the entrance to the restaurant staff. Cozy wood fires, beautiful decor creates a warm ambience.

We enjoyed a lovely coffee break at the Bistro, the dessert was good and the service was great!

So quaint and beautiful. Loved the warm accommodation and hospitality. We didnt have time for the spa but will definitely return for the full granny mouse experience. Their restaurant serves phenomenal food and they are very child friendly and accomodating.

The accommodation in Deluxe Rooms was excellent. However, we had the worst dining experience ever. We ordered a starter to share at 5.05pm. It finally arrived at 6.15pm. When I approached the Manager I was told that they were dealing with the wedding party. Mains were really awful. The worst plate of Lamb Chops I have ever been served - on a plate with cold mash potatoes and potatoes chips. Nothing else. The chops were inedible. The lamb curry wasnt any better. The meal cost us R540.00. I have subsequently heard of many similar disappointments. Simply not enough care taken and an insult to guests who are spending an expensive weekend at Granny Mouse. I sincerely hope that something is done about the kitchen ASAP. Small things like this spoil an entire weekend holiday experience.

Friendly staff, excellent food, peace and quiet. Sharp room service and access to the grounds during covid. Fury friends in abundance. The Spa was a blissful experience and wine paring was out of this world. Best price for a holiday. Cant wait to go back.

A mid week break with my husband.It was cold upon arrival and we were greeted with a smile and warm fire place.Our chalet we stayed in had a fire place yet they supplied us with wet wood, no charcoal or fire lighters. How does one make a fire? The heater that was in the room, or should I say air con needs a super service as no warm air was blown at all.That wasnt even the worst of it. We booked in the restaurant for dinner. Upon arrival we waited 20 minutes for drinks. We ordered our food as soon as the drinks arrived and then sat ans waited 35 minutes for starters.When starters arrived my meatballs were raw and my husbands fishcakes were as dry as sand. We called the waitress over where we told her the issue she removed the meatballs and then I waited 10 minutes before any food came back to the table.My steak then arrivved for mains which was cooked 80% to the way I asked. Unfortunately the mashed potato that came with it was gluey and dry. Unfortunately our meal was less than satisfactory, over 2.5 hour wait, poor service and a hungry tummy.Breakfast was delicious the following morning however that did not make up for the fact I was cold the whole night, and dinner was less than appetising.Will I be back. Unfortunately not.

I visited the restaurant. The service is on top of the roof. The church is so beautiful. I almost wanted to spend a night. The bar area and pool side caught my sight.

If you are looking for time away from the city, a 1 stop place, Granny Mouse is perfect for that. My stay was so amazing, the staff was just so eager to help and very friendly too. Food! I have to emphasize the great quality of the food I had here... They also have wine tasting, food pairings and other treats. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back soon.

Service was great, food was tasty and very reasonable. We have discovered a new wine farm, and the 5 barrels Cab Franc is highly recommended! A great spa treatment. The room was well appointed and comfortable.

You must make a reservation upfront to avoid disappointment. The Bistro has a small menu but they serve those meals well. The only unexpected thing was that they dont have any pepper sauce or Tabasco, they did however, offer me some chopped chillies to accompany my meal. Their milkshakes are really good.

Stunningly cozy place,with views to die for, if youre looking to spice up your relationship, or take out your family this place will definitely the spot to go and they have excellent staff.

Freedom day- trip to the Mandela capture site and Granny Mouse bistro for lunch. Reception was cold and rude. Waiters were friendly. Food was awful- overcooked sole, dry vegetables. Under-filled pie, onion rings out of a packet, chips great. Heavy brioche with dry slow roasted chicken. Setting was good. The wait between starters and main 1.5hrs. Will never go back. I do not recommend.

Stunning scenery... beautiful gardens... great food! For an upmarket place like this with visitors from all over.. hotel should provide free wifi as there is no signal at the hotel for visitors. Residents do have access to wifi. Long wait for food (over an hour) but was worth the wait.

My wife and I spent a wonderful anniversary at their really smart and fancy casual restaurant. The food was excellent and good value. They spoilt us with desert on the house and a beautifully written message on the plate.

Its like the weather changes just to suit this place. A very quaint country lodge that packs plenty of luxury and has a wonderful cozy sit-by-the-fireplace vibe. Fantastic staff that are friendly but on point about their work. The prefect place for a business overnight or even a few days of R&R. Make sure to book for their spa or cheese/wine tastings well in advance as these are popular and quickly booked out.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff, rooms are a little dated and small, there was no place to sit and eat our room service, we had to sit on the bed. Extra tables in the room would be great, even if the table was on the balcony as there were 2 chairs outside . The views are amazing and the food is top notch, the chef is brilliant, from breakfast to dinner the food really is good.

Granny Mouse was a major disappointment. We arrived with no reservation for lunch...direct from Durban.We were met with an obnoxious snuff by the front lady...who proceeded to lecture me, a 50 year old man, in undertones about making a booking the next time. We were taken to the bistro which was certainly not buzzing. After a few moments jangling around we were seated in a lovely scenic outdoor table. The starters were ok...run of the mill...despite promising menu descriptions. The mains were overpriced and totally umimpressive. I had a duck and mushroom pie. Pastry was crisp and tasty but it was sparsely filled with dried duck and mushroom. My onion rings were clearly the frozen I&J variety..terrible. Chips were very crisp and enjoyable...honestly a shop bought pie for R25 would have been better. My son couldnt eat the brioche with slow cooked chicken. The brioche was stale and heavy and the chicken was absolutely dry and unseasoned. Again a fancifully described, named and prices dish...but an absolute fail. My wifes sole was overcooked and dry. How do you overcook a sole? The roasted veggies... though tasty, was dry and obviously kept for too long. Oh and please no half respecting bistro would use goldcrest cheap black olives in their restaurant...after all you are in Midlands...local olives abound with full flavour. On top of it all we were made to wait 1 and half hours for our main meal and our drinks were never serviced after the 1st round...even though we were made to wait for so long. I have always wanted to go to Granny Mouse...and i have heard good things before. Sadly this is not the Granny Mouse I had fantasized.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place to go to. The food is absolutely lovely. We ordered the half price burgers and boy was it a meal never to be forgotten. The burgers were the best we have ever eaten and so was the seafood pasta. This is sure to be our favourite place, to escape the city life.

The best midafternoon tea in the midlands! Beautiful scenery, nature and spectacular views. An English scone, fresh cream and jam with tea was our perfect stop! We missed the clotted cream. (Pushing it for RSA) service is brilliant! Full COVID-19 procedures was followed!

My husband and I had our honeymoon at this gorgeous place.We were greeted by Pearl who is absolutely fabulous.What an accommodating and friendly woman who is absolutely on the ball.We cannot fault this place on anything.The lady in housekeeping was out on the first night at 9pm to assist us.We opted for in room service due to covid though all their protocols were perfectly in place.The rooms where clean and well kept.Friendly staff all over.We had a spa treatment which was part of our package and Rita and her team were phenomenal.What an amazing team.They were so accomodating and truly a pleasure to chat with.Granny Mouse is definitely going to see us again😊

Loved the food. I was so impressed with the measures taken to prevent Covid spreading i felt safe. We were sanitized and screened at the gate as well at the reception area. And when seated they came to sanitize our tables and placemats. I wasnt impressed with service we received, we waited for someone to come attend to us while they were busy attending to people who came before us.

Disappointing burger which was too well done an she bun was stale but the salmon pie was delicious.

Lovely setting with a nice river bank walk. Rooms are large with a comfortable bed, private balcony and gorgeous bathroom. The Staff are attentive,helpful and full of joy. The food is the best we have tasted in South Africa . The place feels very secure.Watch out for the thieving Monkeys. A real Gem, will come back.

The hotel does not deserve its reputation, certainly not on its current form. The rooms are clearly not check for service ability of the amenities. The fine dining experience was anything but, despite the fact that we were the only table (4pax) on the day! Breakfast the next morning was a bit better though nothing to crow about.
