The place has alot of insects. Myb it was due to the heat on the 25th of Sept 2021.The views are amazing. I could not get enough. If you go for the day only, please go early to avoid the heat. The mask helped for the miggies not to go into my nose.

One of my favorite childhood destinations. Please note! There will be muggies! Make peace with it beforehand, so you can enjoy the majestic waterfall roaring with immense power and so much beauty.Day trips are available, but if you want to witness the personality of the waterfall during different times of the day.. Early morning VS sunset, I do recommend staying in one of the lovely chalets. Road trips through the national park is also available. There is also a quaint visitors shop, stocking everything from clothing to food and liquor options. The restaurant caters for more meaty meals and not very vegetarian friendly. All n all an amazing destination that connects you to mother earth, like only Augrabies can. Fall in love again.. Visit these roaring waters.

The park is neat and well attended to. There are plenty of trees at the campsite and the Waterfall lookout decks are +-300m away from camp. They have a pool, self game drives, shop, and beautiful scenery. Apart from the great noise which is quite pleasant, its peaceful and serene

Spectacular natural attraction - a real jewel in the desert. I highly recommend both the falls on the river as well as the nature reserve! Great place, warm & friendly staff and well maintained facilities - kudos to SanParks in this corner of the country. Go to Echo Corner, enjoy breathtaking and unexpected views along the river, and ask for the honeymoon suite to spend the night in the park (no need to be honeymooning).

My visit (February 2021) was inspired by the Augrabies falls being in flood. Driving there – it is situated 120 west of Upington, I was very impressed with the quality of the roads in the Northern Cape.Seeing the falls in flood is spectacular, but it was also an amazing experience to drive through the rest of the park that covers 820 km². The park stretches along the Orange River and the surrounding areas is very arid. The landscape is almost surrealistic. We stayed in the park and the accommodation was clean and functional – no luxuries. The staff at reception was very friendly, helpful and efficient. My only complaint was that the fridge was switched off at the wall – behind the fridge and it took us a while to figure that out.I was quite impressed with the quality of the infrastructure around the waterfall to make viewpoints and accessible walkways.

This national park is a long way from anywhere but it is stunning. The waterfall is huge (even in the dry winter months) and it is well maintained. I didnt see a scrap of litter anywhere. The early morning/late evening views are stunning and the winter night sky is awesome.Do get a chalet with a view (its an option on booking) if you can.The Falls are lit up for a couple of hours at night, but take a torch to get there. SANP staff are generally helpful, but those at Augrabies are really great - from reception to groundskeepers, nothing is too much trouble.

The Augrabies is just something else and we were privileged tonsee it while still flowing stronger than usual due to floods. But the Augrabies isnt just abou the falls - it is truly a semi-deser and the fauna and flora deserve their fair share of attention. I would recommend a vehicle with some ground clearance when exploring the park. The rock formations and soil colours are amazing. Take some time to go to the various lookout points along the canyon.

Augrabies Falls National Park is maintained by San Parks and is kept really clean and well maintained. There are some places which you can roam in self-driven mode but the speed limit is 40 kmph inside the park. It will take whole day to cover the 91kilometer long circle around the park. I could only drive till the point 16 as I entered the park around afternoon and only started to go on trail around 2pm. There are a lot of water potholes where SUV is okay to go and even Sedan can go but as no information is written many people turn their cars over. You should carry on as there are 3 of them which really breaks the spirits of sedan owners but your car will be able to pass. The augrabies falls are right behind the reception area and facilities are kept really clean. The thunder of waterfalls can be heard from a distance. There are a lot of mosquitoes for which you need to buy a hat covering your face worth R66 from the store. Augrabies region has those mosquitoes biting you hard so if you plan to wear bermudas etc better wear fully covered clothes like jeans and shirt else they bite you really hard. I totally loved the region despite my whole leg covered in bites by these mosquitoes. Thanks

Augrabies Falls National Park was a lovely stay. These arid parks are for those who can really appreciate the landscape, ever-changing, with the majestic falls as a highlight. Although we could not reach the office via phone, as we were running late and thought the gates would be closed. They were so kind to carry over our reservation payment for the following day. Excellent and friendly service!! We learned, if arriving late for gate hours, which is not ideal or good park etiquette, arrangements can be made to leave keys at the gate.

What an epic experience to see Augrabies in flood. The breathtaking vastness and thundering sound of the falls is indescribable. We stayed in chalet 9 which had a lovely tree shade on the stoep and views of the Orange River as it falls into Augrabies. The walkways are well laid out and very safe to walk on your own including at night when the floodlights are switched on. The chalet is dated but clean and a much needed working aircon. Very thankful for a lovely swimming pool who cool off in the 38 degrees summer heat. I would recommend you take extra dish towels, cleaning sponge, shampoo, swimming towels. The braai stands are cleaned everyday. There isnt an oven and cooking utensils are limited. So best to braai. There is a shop on site with daily basics. Sadly The Quiver Tree restaurant was closed when we were there. Because of the flooding, the hiking trails were closed but we experienced an unforgettable sight of the falls in flood.
