The place is not well maintained. I feel it is not very safe to go alone, to go with company is recommended. It a decent place to go for small picnic. There is place to sit and eat and braai stand. There is also a small walk going around the park. The river is dirty and water is smelly

Paths are over run and gardens are not maintained. Didn’t see any birds. Are areas to picnic in but area is very marshy

Excellent birding and a lot of effort is being put in to clean the place up. Paths all mowed and plans to improve facilities.

It was lovely that there wasnt any trash laying around, but all walkways werent accessable due to overgrowth. Lovely place though

Ch

Terribly unmaintained. There was no one to assist or guide us and we had to guess where to go. There wasnt much to see other than younger crowds drinking alcohol, a filthy pond and 3 geese. Restrooms available but gave it a miss. Wall broken down and the sanctuary is now used as a thoroughfare. Mosquito sanctuary is a more appropriate name because of the still water. Its better described as a park as there isnt even one bird feeder to attract any but instead unkept braai facilities.

Sanctuary not maintained well and couldnt see or find many birds. Saw some geese and only 2 selected birds. Standing water and littered with waste and not maintained. No staff available for information or tours. Perimeter wall broken and not repaired. Braai and ablusion services available for picnics but also small and not maintained.

In terrible state. Stagnant water. Over grown lawn. Nobody to great you. A handful of birds. Lots of tadpole and crabs. Very run down. Litter in the streams.

Not much in the way of facilities but this is a fabulous little haven for nature and wildlife watching. The paths may be uneven in places.

Did not see one bird and those erecting the fence around the property have discarding the whatcteat fence panel over the path way which made it dangerous for those walking through the park . All the tea table are broken . The park was a waist of my time. Please do something to correct these problems. I will be back to see if these issues have been resolved . The park could be a very Interesting place to vissit . Thanking you

Was cleaned nicely by municipality. I eas worried about the crime but felt safe. Lovely venue for kids partirs and baby showers. i feel they should charge entry fee and allow only paid clients. Get a coffee shop up and running and possibly get the art association to do their classes there. If theres more security the venue would be a heaven for safe family picnics

Bird Sanctuary is not quite how it should be described. Management is clearly lacking and unfortunately birdlife isnt thriving. The place has great potential but it is slowly declining and if it continues on this path it will soon be a security risk to go there.

A huge park with so much potential, totally derelict and run down. Sewerage in the river...such a pity that the municipality isnt keeping it up.

Ra

It appears that in its day the sanctuary would have been very nice. However, it has been allowed to go downhill considerably. Paths are not well maintained; litter is everywhere; and, frankly, we saw very few birds! Quite a disappointment but I guess you get what you pay for ... Entrance is free.

Got there on a pretty quite day so there were 4 or 5 tipes of birds around but i think a monkey sanctuary would be a more appropriate name for this place. The local goverment have also realy let this place down becouse maintanance is clearly not a priority

Ed
Review №48

The birds is the main attraction. But the facility is controlled and upkeep by the local government, and that is a disaster. This factor undermines the potential of this place. This is a Gem, which is neglected by the maintenance of the place. The birds is worth the visit !!!

fr

The staff is friendly, and regarding the rest of the place, well , I suggest that during a walk on tbe dilapidated trails and overgrowth , mosquito,s and a fubar perimeter fence , wich allows uncontrollable access to thieves, muggers and all other dangerous elements, be armed or in groups of 5 or more. Photography equipment is expensive and easy to set off, so avoid the place totally when alone. My aged mother who use to practical ly live tbere during tbe day taking photographs , was attacked and bloodgeoned to inches of her life.. worst of all is when the incident was reported to amanzimtoti Saps, , tbere was an eyewitnesses in the holding cells that ACTUALLY took the SAP right to attacker s home , and identified hin to the SAP. FIve months later and Station Commander Refuses to Arrest And outright Ignores Pleas from a 70yeR old VICTIMS CRY FOR JUSTICE.
