As hospitals are since the start of the covid pandemic, it is not.pleasant to visit, but a good hospital with generally competent staff. The fact that there is very limited to no visitation of family in hospital in my opinion is inhumane and does not contribute to a positive patient experience. I truly believe the will be more positive patient outcomes more ways were explored to encourage patient-family interaction.

Great doctors but there was an obese Indian nurse in the ICU who yelled at me to stop crying so the pain will go away after I specifically requested for stronger painkillers. She was cold and heartless and I do not feel that she cares about her patients. This hospital should fire her. Most of the nursing staff dont care about their patients and are very rude. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. IF YOU FIND YOURSELF THERE PLEASE TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR AND GET TRANSFERRED TO LIFE GROUP HOSPITAL INSTEAD

I didnt like how close patients are lying next to each other in the rooms especially now in a pandemic with only a single layer cotton curtain between them. The staff were good as always. I am utterly DISGUSTED by the treatment from the staff in the casualty ward. The emergency department reception was literally non existent, I had to go back to the main desk to get help. I was crying in pain while the staff dragged their feet, nobody was communicating with me.I was given paracetamol and told I would not receive stronger pain medication until I produced a urine sample. I was promised water to drink since I didnt need to go and no matter how many times I asked for my water, it was NEVER brought to me. When I eventually was able to produce a urine sample, I did not receive stronger pain medication I was promised even though I was still in pain.I was sent to the bathroom to get my urine sample without a drip stand or any help. I had to hold an empty drip bag while I did this, the blood in my arm was moving backwards into the tube at this stage. The nurse kept dropping things on the floor, left an open and seemingly used needle on the tiles near my bed.Out of everything, it has been two weeks since my visit and my arm is STILL sore after my blood draw. I have bruising over my wrist where the nurse failed to find a vein and sharp pulling pains all the way through my wrist to my shoulder because of the needle in my elbow. I fully understand that I have difficult veins but I have never experienced an injury like this before.I went to the Union as opposed to Mulbarton because their reputation had always been great. I have never ever in my life been treated so terribly before. I am not unreasonable, I understand that with COVID it makes things difficult but it seems it has just become an excuse. The doctor who treated me was perfectly professional and thorough but the nursing staff were a nightmare. While I sent in a review of my experience to Netcare last week, I have not had a follow up yet and I do not feel there is anything they can do to rectify this situation as I wont ever set foot near this hospital again.

My father in law had a terrible fall today. He went to causality at Germiston Medicross and was seen to and stitched ans bandaged and sent fir XRAys at the Clinton, the Clinton could not so it because of a power failure. We went to the Union. The Union could not do it because in the panic we did not get the referral letter. We ask if they would not just call the doctor they wouldnt and all the other patients waiting were shocked that they would not see to him. We went bank to the Germiston Medicross to get the letter. The doctor told us to Sunward . We went to Sunward and they took the ex rays immediately when they saw how bad he looked. They also admitted him for observation. This is the 3rd time the Union has disappointed, why wouldnt the Union call the doctor, when Sunward said that They would have? They say once bitten, twice shy, but we really thought that the first 2 times may have just been a bad day. But it seems like it is the normal of this hospital.

This private hospital doesnt deserve any stars whatsoever. My father is currently in the ICU and has been there for 3 days now. Yesterday his drips were removed by the nurses and when my fathers doctor asked why his drips had been removed and why my father had not yet been given the medication prescribed, the nurses advised the doctor that, they thought my father was going home. This is shocking seeing that my father is suffering from severe heart failure. Surely the nurses who have been monitoring him should know that a severely ill man cannot be sent home.Unfortunately due to my fathers condition, he cannot move around as a result of the wires of the machines restricting him from doing so. I have just spoken to my father and he has told me that he is not being given any assistance by the nurses at all and the nurses treat him very bad.We all spend a small fortune on medical aid on a monthly basis to receive proper medical treatment at private facilities but, this does not seem to be the case at the Netcare Union Hospital and more specifically the ICU .I honestly feel like reporting this hospital to the relevant authorities and i pray with all my might that my father will be ok.Should anything happen to my father as a result of the treatment he is receiving, i will most definatly be taking matters much further.

They treat people who are the same race as them far better. My father is in so much pain and completely dependent on them for help and they do nothing at all. The cleaning is bad as well. There were some other persons clothes in the cupcoard which they refused to remove. No one can say when my dad will be operated on. When raising concerns with them about his swollen foot (he has blood pressure and clotting issues so swelling is a red flag) all they did was say he should have told the doctor and then did nothing further. I am honestly highly dissapointed and I am considering in taking further legal actions for NEGLIGENCE!!My father was admitted on the 1st of J with the symptoms of short breathe, pain to the leg and chest, sugar levels high at 13-15.Tests were done in the ER and which led to his admission which concluded that he had blood clots in his lungs and leg. The ER doctor appointed Dr. Botha as his physician. He is been there for the 3rd day now and only when my mother complained to the doctor (who actually turned his back on him as his patient while he was doing his rounds) he then only attended to his health and only at that moment prescribed him medication. Two questions:1. What is the procedure of a doctor checking their patient? Does the nurse on duty assist the doctor?2. What is the procedure of the DR. giving information to close family members? Should the family follow up to the doctor or should the doctor make a follow up to the patients family?I am utterly disgusted by this kind of treatment. As a paying patient WE SHOULD NOT BE TREATED IN THIS MANNER. Also we shouldnt be the ones waiting for feedback from the doctor for more than 24hours. Its UNACCEPTABLE!!!!I will be lodging a complaint to the Dept of Health and taking further legal actions, because my conclusion is that this is not something new and who elses health are you putting in danger??!!Regards.

Terrible, Terrible this is really a dreadful hospital. My Grandmother was admitted there for 2 weeks, and she had the worst care from incompetent nursing staff. They never fed herher or gave her anything to drink, they just left her there to lie and get weaker for it is to much work to help her walk. One weekend no could wake her up she was to fast asleep, basically in a coma, and the staff only lied and said that she was awake a little earlier, but asking the other patients she never woke. Nothing about her meds that they gave her was written down in her chart, and the useless staff only lied say that she drank that much and she ate , when we know she didnt she was always so hungry and thirsty during visiting hours. If they dont wanna care for there patients they should be so strict on visiting hours. And best of all when she was discharged, no one called to come and get her, we only got attitude the next day for not taking her, when we had no idea. We just received the most horrible service from this hospital. I escorted my husband Mr L Mothibe to the casualty dept on the evening of 05/01/2019. The lady at the casualty reception not welcoming. Male nurse Monde in triage room no distinguishing devices on duty, enrolled nurse in the same triage room no name badge. She finally told me her name is Jabu Biyela after i demanded to know who was providing care to my sick husband. Some vital signs not actually done but was charted on the patients file, some not done at all because it was not necessary according to the nursing staff but it is vital sign. Patient was seen by Dr Zoghby and sent home, no measure taken to manage his pain and high grade fever whilst in their care. We drove back to the hospital before we could reach home as we felt my husband was rendered substandard service to. The Dr who initially saw him handled the concerns to our satisfaction. Some nursing staff attending to my husband the second time around got irritable when i asked them their names as they did not have name badges on, she finally told me her name is Maria Nkosi and walked away. We wanted to make things right but the sister in charge Fikile Nhlapo was not willing to redress the situation and also walked away on me and the patient. The night supervisor registered nurse Chris Pienaar took our statements but told us Fikile is not willing to come talk to us anymore and she is not answerable to us. The Netcare policy is right there at the reception wall Caring the Netcare way i had time to go through it and none of the standards were met at this particular institution. To the nursing staff at Netcare Union hospital you have forgotten the nursing ethics, your regulations and your acts and ommisions acts. It pains my family to know that we will be paying for such substandard service and the injustice. How many have you provided such a bad service to and walked away without saying anything.

We waited a hour and a half and nobody even reffered us yet to the xray room. One docter on duty. No nurses in sight. Going for two hours now, and docter still not here. Further feedback, after doctor arrived he told us there is nothing wrong with my sons arm and sent us back home without copies of xrays or pain medication. Through the night my son got a high fever and was crying nonstop. The next morning I took him to his pediatrician Dr. Blignaut, she got the copies of the xray and report, and showed us on the same Xray that was done by the Union doctor on Duty the previous night, that my sons collarbone is in fact broken. We had to make an appointment with an orthopedic. It took 6 weeks for recovery.
