Their staff are wonderful and they even allow you order in advance and collect the order. We recently order burger buns for a family outing and they were the cream of the crop. I would highly recommend this place for all your bakery needs. They products are made with love and care.

The goods inside are tasty and isnt expensive. They didnt have a wide ringe of baked goods when I was there but there is space for a larger display. The sanitary conditions arent that great due to exposed and uncovered food. They offer more than baked goods at the counter that offers more variable purchases. Not a bad place but not the best out of the options available in the area. On a good note, if you are looking for cheaper prices on baked goods, this place offers great prices.

Very old bakery and we came all the way from East London in the eastern cape to get my wife some petty 4s. Sorry dont know how to spell it. The guy was rude and told us we would only be able to get the next day because he did not bake any that day. My wife loved them and grew up with this shops goods and she was hurt by the way it all went down. Her grand father took her there every week as a child and she said it was not the same.

This family run bakery, is absolutely amazing. From beautiful steak-pies to rolls softer than clouds. My family loves proto and we will support George and his team everyday if we could.

Staff were friendly. Biscuits are very good and not over priced. Needs a bit of TLC.

Quaint old fashioned Bakery which I have been going to for about 50 years now. We dont live near it anymore, but make a point of stopping here whenever we are passing Alberton. The koeksisters and steak pies still taste exactly the same as when I was a child.

I bought 12 cocktail sausage rolls yesterday and I found a cooked cockroach in my pie. I am utterly disgusted and will never return to this dirty and disgusting shop ever again. I wish I knew when was the last time the health inspector paid your shop a visit and when last was your ovens properly cleaned. I have nothing else to say.

I have known Proto Bakery and the owners there since I was a little girl of about 5. This is an old world bakery with cream cakes and chocolate Bunnies in the window over Easter. Love their pies. I had an ant that drove all the way from Vereeniging on Sundays to come and buy cream cake from Proto. Try the pies and baked bread on a Sunday morning. Fresh from the oven. Nothing better.
