An absolutely exceptional location. Camping facilities good, with electricity, but keen to come back for their Eco Lodge overlooking the whole river Canyon. Mindblowingly beautiful, honestly.

Excellent, authentic and a view. Really enjoyed this experience. Friendly people. Camping site looks nice as well, but we stayed in the cottage. Highly recommended and I can see why.

Ive been here for the second time and it was absolutely lovely.The place is amazing, the rooms are clean and tidy and the family is very kind and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place. And make sure you book a dinner with the family. Their food is amazing. Very African with a lot of options and flavours. Definitely a place to come back to the next time I am in South Africa!

Interesting place off the beaten track. Very friendly hosts with a wealth of interesting stories to share. Visited during a time of severe drought and it is assumed that this was the cause for the muddy smell of the water (note that the water is not potable). Camping experience was generally very pleasant and quiet

Wow!!! Such a nice place. Amazing view from the glamping. I woke up every morning with freshly made breakfast, a lovely view, lovely sounds and amazing people. Really would recommend this place to everyone.

We decided to choose this location to be at the South African Nature and we got 100% of it.The owners were really nice and friendly and it hurt a bit that we not spend time with them to drink a nice glass wine with them. We slept at the Glamping area and it was a great experience.If I would sleep at this area again, I definitely sleep there again.

Camping right the Gourits River with wonderful views. Despite being completely booked out, our hosts went out of their way to accommodate us & make us feel welcome.Campsite is clean, tidy, and does not have excessive amounts of people. Allowing for a proper peaceful nature experience.River is fantastic to fish & swim in.Surrounding game farms are fun activities (we had a wonderful siting of lions directly on the neighbouring fence).Recommended.

Spent a fantastic night camping on a recent bike trip. Beautifully laid out camping area with level sites. Hosts Koos and Ryna were wonderful. Rates were very reasonable and they kindly provided a delicious supper at a very reasonable price. Highly, highly recommended!

Very nice and beautiful. The silence and clear skies at night made it absolutely amazing.Long walks next to the river are great and very interesting places to see.The ablution facilities are great and make you feel like you are one with nature.Wood and ice can be bought on the farm and it is great value for money.I will visit again when I have a different vehicle than an Audi A4 because of the road. It was able to handle the road but it is not made for it.

Very nice place campsite, clean, green grass, shade and river to swim in.The most amazing part of staying there was that at night there are very few lights on (only when someone goes to shower/toilet and from other campsites), but after a while there were no lights on at all, which means that watching the stars is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! Its not often you find yourself in an area with no light and a sky so amazing!Head torches were fine in the evening, not need for big gas lamps etc. Rather enjoy light from the fire and the quiet, calm evenings.Hosts were excellent. Got ice from them which helped keep meat cold.

We received excellent service. Camping grounds were in immaculate condition. They made us feel like family. Enjoyed the stay very much. Did not want to leave. Would recommend them to everybody.

If you want to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time on a working eco farm, this is the place. At night you can hear the owls and other nightlife with an awesome star studded sky. Cannot wait for my next visit.

I loved our stay, the hosts were really friendly and very kind. The location was beautiful and the food was amazing!This secret escape is hidden by mountains but still has a lot to offer in the nearby area. This place was really cosy and felt really personal. The hosts cared about the farm and their animals and loved their land. Was really sad to hear about the draught and see the aftermath of it, but none the less the place was beautiful and the hosts were still positive with a great sense of humour.It was peaceful and had a really nice positive vibe. Honestly would stay here again. 10/10

What a pleasant surprise! Very different to what we expected from looking on the website - very rustic and raw. However we toured around south Africa for 3 months and camping at Gouritz River Lodge was one of my absolute favourite!! Ablutions are clean, sites are neat and the hosts are fantastic! Unfortunately with the drought the river is dry otherwise we wouldve stayed longer. But we will definitely be back! Nicci

We had such a great stay. Especially the hosts were remarkable. They welcomed us warmly and taking the best care of us!!

What a great time we had at Gourits Eco Camping. Camping site is well set out and clean, amenities are also well set out and clean. Camp site is not overcrowded at all, so a welcome break from civilisation. Amazing view of the mountain with great bird watching opportunities. Being a dog friendly establishment is an absolute bonus for us as we always take our dogs on holiday with us. Koosie is a great host who is friendly and takes time to come around for a chat and share a drink. We will definitely go back and visit again.

Remote away from hustle and bustle, very reasonably priced, great facilities, beautiful views, exceptional hospitality

We camped one night, enjoyed it so much, so we when back for another, two days, bird lovers paradise. Host is great people.

An excellent place for peace and quiet.The property is an operating aloe farm, but includes sheep, goats and cattle that freely roam around during the day.The guest house has the perfect balance between nature and technology with well furnished rooms and WiFi. It also is a splash pool next to a thatched wooden deck that extends from the guest house veranda. The deck overlooks the Gourits River and a considerable sized island opposite. The Northern view provides the sights and sounds of the Booted Eagle that live and hunt Dassies in the sandrock cliffs above the Vals River where it integrates into the Gourits River.For those who wish to camp in a pleasant surround of nature, a number of well positioned flat grassed areas have been built that look onto the cliffs and over the Vals River. A perfect spot for fishing and swimming.The hosts, Koosie and Ryna are excellent in making one feel at home away from home. Everything is possible with them and they focus on the guests wants and wishes.All of these wonderful experiences in a place of pure peace and quiet.Thank you!

Very nice stay with Ryna and Cosie on their farm. We really enjoyed the days. The dinner was phenomenally good, the breakfast okay, you can certainly improve something here. The animals on the farm are great, especially for children. The 13 puppies were especially great. The location is great for people who want peace and quiet, you are in nowhere. The possibilities for excursions are, however, very limited in the immediate vicinity.Thank you, wed love to come back.

Super friendly hosts, great grilled steaks from our own cattle to 3 course dinner, own honey and home baked bread for breakfast. Very lonely and remote farm. If you think that nothing is coming, after another 3 km dirt road comes the Gourits Guest Farm 😀. NO TV - you just talk to each other. Idyllic and romantic. Glamping is adventurous with an outdoor bathroom. Showers overlooking the mountains and the river included. Alternatively, you can also choose a normal nice room.Here you can really relax. It is also funny when the goats climb the mountain in the morning and come down with the goat-guard in the evening
