We have just spent 10days at Karoo Secret guest house. The purpose of our stay was birding on the farm and surrounds. We found Slaters larks and Pink bill larks in large numbers.The hosts Chris and Margot Hayward are wonderful people and where most helpful if we needed anything. The area is in desparate need of rain.We will definitely go back there again.

Karoo Secret is a place that grows on you, as you discover the arid Karoo, the wide open spaces and the stillness of a never-ending starry sky. There are lots of walks and cycle tracks that are very well sign-posted and the surrounding area is a landscape photographers dream. The accommodation is beautifully put together with lots of attention to detail and everything you could think of is available. Chris and Margot are super hosts, and their enthusiasm for the Karoo life is contagious. Well worth a visit!!

What a wonderful, authentic, unpretentious Karoo Farm Stay experience! We really made a connection here. Your Farm house stoep has majestic views on a working merino sheep and Bonsmara cattle farm, and Chris and Margot Hayward’s passion about the Farm is abundant. We were lucky enough to see the dedicated Gypsy at work with her herd. (Bless!) The whole family welcomed us and made us feel at home. Animals in abundance, scenery that goes on forever & sunsets like no other. You’ll feel like you’re stuck in a time warp somewhat. In a good way. We’ll be back for lambing season. What a treat!

What a lovely Karoo experience! The old farm house has been beautifully transformed into a comfortable, relaxing space with a fantastic stoep for coffee in the mornings and a lovely living area perfect for board games and family time. The walking trails through the veld are enjoyable for all ages, see if you can spot some Monkeys, Kudus and if youre lucky, an Aardvark!Karoo secret is an absolute gem, Thank you.

A wonderful gem in the heart of the Karoo! The hospitality is so personal with Margot and Chris’ warmth welcoming you onto their farm. Beautiful walks and cycle routes which are all very well sign posted are a wonderful way to spend your time. A braai on the stoep, stargazing and fresh Karoo air resets the soul! Most definitely recommend 2+ nights.

Perfect place to escape to busy life in the town/city. Fill the lungs with the fresh Karoo air and a great place to experience the daily operation of a working Karoo farm. No better place to have a braai on the stoep while enjoying the sunset and even better to observe the bright stars of the Milky way. Would want to wake up there everyday.
